It was overpriced at $500, but $600? Wow.

The thing cannot even properly view half of the internet (Read: flash) yet costs more than most laptops.

Save the money and buy yourself a real tablet.

Sorry but Gingerbread is going to annihilate the iPad when it comes out.

ur handle needs to be changed-iPad is the most satisfying 'puter experience I've ever had. I save $150 month by using an iPad instead of all things required to take credit cards in my small biz-and that is just an added bonus. Leapfrog the iPad will over all comers-the creative genius is in Cupertino and will be for many years to come.

Probably a Best Buy error, and won't see the iPad 2 anytime soon.

Highly doubtful it is an error. It is being anticipated, and Best Buy would be one of the first outlets to be made aware of such an arrival. While they have had sku's in the past show up very early in their system, I would feel quite confident they know when it is coming and are preparing.

this past week we've learned:

—iOS 4.3 shows us gestures, and three ipad 2 versions in the coding, also, iphone 5 versions coming in summer
—no home button rumors?
—evidence of an ipad 2 camera(s)
—ipad 2 launch in april? or wait...is it february? who knows!
—apple store-only availability come april?
—the ipad's 'The Daily' is delayed again
—probably the most definitive evidence yet of ipad 2's improved screen resolution, quadrupeling the first gen's, making it a somewhat-retina display
—a new processor, the A5
—ipad 2 getting an SD card slot?
—qualcommm as the new chip-maker
—Best buy lists 3 models on its website right now
—CDMA/GSM/Wifi versions, which i think we've all known for at least a week-ish

it's been a pretty interesting week in ipad 2 rumors, i'd say.

Is Macrumor getting kinda slow it took nearly an hour or more before this rumor was posted here:confused: Maybe it's just me:(

I just wish it would get here, so all this speculation could be put to rest with facts...

i agree. i've just been following "ipad 2" on google news, which brings up the latest articles on the device, and they always have things before Mac Rumors. but i guess macrumors is pretty reliable, they won't just post every little thing that comes the internet's way like some websites, seems like they try to post some thing with a little more legitimacy, i think anyway. plus seems like they've been working a bit more today, normally they don't post on saturdays or sundays unless it's something pretty huge. at least that i've noticed.

i get the macrumors' twitter feed sent to my phone, so at work when i can't be checking the internet all day it's nice to get the updates quick on my phone. so if something big/important to me comes to the phone i can just take a minute to read more about it on the site.

$599 is what i expect the new entry model for iPad 2 to be. If they double screen res, they will need to sell it for $599 at least.

Cool, but I really hope there will be an entry level model below $599!

Apple would be stupid to raise the price $100!!! I would not be happy! :( This better not be accurate!

Sorry but Gingerbread is going to annihilate the iPad when it comes out.

I believe you mean "Honeycomb"! And no, it won't! ;)

iPad Classic not coming to BB I predict.

Forth most hated company in America (according to W.S. year-end survey) may not get iPad classic. Too much for these guys to keep track of is not a good thing.

Looks like I can finally use my Accidental Damage Protection plan by accidentally leaving it on the roof of my car and opting to use the money towards this beauty. Yay for insurance fraud!

No, boo for insurance fraud.

Because of people pulling stunts like that, my insurance company no longer will insure the iphone because it just got too expensive cause of people with that attitude.

I'm guessing the new models will be

32gig AT&T 3G

32gig Verizon 3G

64gig ???

Maybe drop the old model to $400 or below.

Even with an increased resolution (not retina display), no way does Apple increase the iPad's price (at least not on the lowest spec'd ones). With several new tablets coming out (I'm not saying that they are better), they need to be aggressive with their pricing so that current customers upgrade and new customers choose the ipad 2.

There has always been insurance fraud. The real reason the insurance company no longer will insure the iPhone is all the lub-schmucks who dropped their iPhones and broke them because of general recklessness combined with a lack of dexterity. Oh, and because it's a glass phone.

I'm familiar with the problem, though. My former insurance company raised the premium for iPhone so high that only suckers and scammers will sign up for it.

I think the prices are there just so something is filled in. Plus, 2 $599 ones and 1 $699 one? should be 1 $599 (wifi) and 2 $699 (for ATT and Verizon versions). And I expect the base price to be lower than the current iPad. As with every other 2nd gen and so on device, it's always cheaper than the first gen.

i think if the best buy sku is real, the prices are placeholders for now. if they are all truly wifi, then they should all be priced differently.

an AT&T/Verizon wifi version won't exist in ipad 2. it'll be a wifi version with three memory capacities, an AT&T (GSM) version with three memories and a Verizon (CDMA) version with three memories.

the ones on Best buy wouldnt be the AT&T or Verizon versions. they are just different wifi versions. think about it.

that is, again, if they are real.

If Apple add hi res display, sd card reader and cameras there is no way it's going to stay at the same price, I bet you will see the current one staying as the lowest model with v2 being higher priced more equipt model, all that extras will cost money and apple won't give them away.

To me it really doesn't make sense that BestBuy would actually know something about iPad 2. At most I reckon they could have been told by apple that "we have a new iPad, we want you to sell it". But price etc etc? No way.

2x $599

Just a placeholder, or perhaps: different colours? I'd have thought GSM and CDMA would be combined in the same unit.

Ps. An acronym like SKU should have its full title for the first use, I reckon.
