I look forward to a reworked (improved Stage Manager) that supports older iPads. I still wish it even work on 64GB models in a limited fashion. The most recent beta of iPadOS 16.1 expands the controversial Stage Manager feature to older iPads, allowing it to work with iPad Pro models that have an A12X or A12Z chip, according to information Apple provided to Engadget.
Agreed. They would have continued the charade if it weren’t for all the backlash. Nonsense fabricated to sell more M1s.It's because of users HARD doubting Apple's original implementation and BS explanation that this has happened. And Apple still hasn't gone far enough with this.
Stay hungry. Stay smart. Doubt Apple.
Man idc for stage manager but I wish I could have external display support on the 2020 iPad pro
Read what they actually are saying before complaining: stage manager is now limited to 4 apps (instead of 8) with no external screen support. This show there is indeed a technical reason to limit stage manager to M1 iPads. They did not want to release this limited stage manager. So, this actually validates what Apple has been saying. So the whole “older iPad Pros can’t handle stage manager” was just BS from apple?
By the sounds of it, its temporary.External or 2nd display being dropped is kinda the killer feature of stage manager. That being pulled really degrades the value for me, but curious to give it a try without on my non M1 11" Pro.
That’s what they saidIf you complain enough, Apple will eventually listen!
So why did Apple say it was only for m1 they must have lied when they said they couldn’t bring it to older ipads
It is but I want the oppositeIsn’t Sidecar compatible with that iPad?
Use an iPad as a second display for a Mac - Apple Support (CA)
With Sidecar, you can use your iPad as a second display for your Mac.support.apple.com
Man ,so trueNow all the whiners with older iPads can use Stage Manager once and then never use it again. 😅
Yeah sadly looks like so ,wished they gave us external monitor instead of stage managerSo my old iPad Pro gets stage manager but can’t use an external monitor? Is it either or?
I’m still not convinced. There are some other iPads that might be able to run it, and we’ll never know if even this bottleneck is artificially imposed by Apple. Like I said, what about the Air 4, the first and second-generation iPad Pros, etc.I like how everyone is praising Apple, should have been like this from the beginning.
At least this probably means big changes for Stage Manager. It’s useable, but been pretty much a mess. Very confusing to use. Bummed out that they’re temporarily removing external display support as I actually have been using that often. But, probably for the best if they’re fixing things.
What? How do you expect that to happen? Now expand dynamic island to iPhone 13.
Without stage manager external display support is useless.Yeah sadly looks like so ,wished they gave us external monitor instead of stage manager
It's been going on for quite some time. Almost every thread now has a majority of posts indicating hate/disdain for Apple. Even if it's something good from Apple, the inventive participants will find a way to express hate and extreme negativism. The chance of finding useful information and intelligent conversation is diminishing daily. What I don't understand is given the vast amount of hate, why are these people buying Apple products? When did this place become the Apple haters forum?
Working well for me on my A12X iPad Pro 12.9they didnt said that...they said the user experience will not be great
Now, people with old ipads...will complain how hard and laggy this feature is since is an RAM eating feature...so good luck with those 4gb ipads
Those tabs will refresh every-time, the UI will be probably 60hz or even under depending how many task you have and so on
Forget about 120fps UI on those A12z ipads pro
