My 2018 iPado 12.9” is still doing fine.

What feature would entice me to upgrade?

A centered camera? Please.

Micro leds? As if I could give AF

Running macOS? Yes!! Sign me up!!!
So, would you like a Mac with a touchscreen just as much? In other words, do you want to use iPadOS at all? Are dreaming of some dual-boot device?

iPad Pros already cost more than Macs.
I can get the new M3 MBA 13in for £1,020. The current M2 12.9in iPad Pro is £1,250, and will no doubt rocket up another £100+ with the OLED model. It does make me think....

I still wonder if there will be new magic keyboard for the ipad air… they keep saying for the Pro… with no mention for the Air.
I can’t imagine that there won’t be something new for the 12.9-inch Air. Unless they plan to use the outgoing keyboard for the big Pro on the Air. But that doesn’t sound like Apple, does it?

Tbf, there is the M2 11-inch iPad Pro which cost less than the M3 MBA 13-inch…

The lack of a touch screen is the only thing preventing me from opting for a MB Air instead of a larger iPad Air or Pro. I had a 14-inch MB Pro with the M1 Pro chip. It did a fine job but, without the touch screen, I found myself going back to either my Mac desktop for heavy lifting and my iPads for everything else. I’m speaking only for myself but laptops feel awkward to me. I really prefer a touch screen to a track pad and clicker.

Most people would be willing to pay more for a device that would be measurably more capable.
I don’t think this will ever come from Apple. There really is no possibility let’s just be honest. Not sure why people keep asking to have macOS on an iPad.

Also using an iPad with a capable trackpad and keyboard as a daily driver can show you that it will eventually become it’s own very powerful OS in the future.

With Extended display support, Stage Manager, some apps that I (personally) use regularly like Davinci Resolve, Logic Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, GSuite. iPadOS has a great future ahead of it. And don’t forget all other apps that already exist like banking apps or other iPad apps in general that work better opposed to a web browser because a desktop app was never created. For example: Gmail for iPad…

It’s definitely not a Mac and obviously more can be done on a Mac but it’s very capable on its own. Hopefully they release the better magic keyboard with a bigger trackpad.

Yes, I don’t trust the algorithm that Apple uses. I have several older iPads that have bad battery life compared to when they’re new and coconutbattery says their battery life is in the 70% which is due for a replacement. Apples diagnostics software always says they’re good. 😡
No joke, I had an ipad pro that was at 88 percent battery capacity. Took it back a year later and it was 90 percent...

This is madness to not allow the owner to pay to replace a battery!

We don't want your stinkin' $100...when we can extract 10x more.

That’s because Apple doesn’t replace your battery. They replace the entire device altogether. That’s why the price of a battery replacement is akin to buying a new device if it’s not covered by AppleCare.

You are better off approaching a third party repair shop to replace the iPad battery. Which is what I did, though they didn’t go a perfect job (you can see bits of dried glue at the sides where they took the screen apart). But I am still happy with the end result (my battery had bloated and was pushing the screen apart).

Their website states the price and nothing about Apple Care requirement. They are very willing to replace iPhone batteries that are >90% still. Are they much easier to replace? Either way, their service/support website is incredibly misleading. I will just make do for now.

I don’t get the point of wanting macOS on the iPad format. Are you guys just looking for a cheaper option?

Do you also not get the point of macOS allowing you the option to run iPadOS apps ? What's the logic of allowing you to go one way and not the other when the hardware is almost identical ? For me it's handy to be able to run apps on my MacBook that are not available for macOS. I have 20 Wyze cameras, with iPhone and iPadOS support only, around my house and being able to see the cameras and notifications when I'm working my MacBook is very convenient. Allowing users the choice to run more apps on an iPad doesn't hurt you if you don't care to do so. Also, iPad Pro plus Magic Keyboard is in no way the cheaper option considering you can pick up a new M1 MacBook Air for $700. iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard is at MacBook Pro prices.

Yeah, it doesnt… but this is the current situation

Function key row on base ipad keyboard

No function key row on air and pro magic keyboard for ipad

🥴

Does any one want any new physical feature for the ipad? this product is mature I just do not see anything more than the usual spec bump.

If you want to do advancement, it should be on the software side of things. I also go lost between all the different namings and versions of the ipad. What is it now? Air 3, ipad 2024, max? who knows

Not sure why people keep asking to have macOS on an iPad.

Because we want it. That's all the justification needed. The last time I posted this someone replied with a screed about how it'll never fit into Apple's product roadmap and it would cannibalize other products' sales (both true; I'm not arguing the points) but I don't flippin' care. I want a touchscreen MacOS tablet but I can't have it because reasons.

We keep saying it because we keep wanting it. Eventually maybe we'll get our way but not by being quiet.

New iPads Likely to Begin Shipping in April...in the States...

The Aipad air m3 still not available here...

My guess is June for the ipad.
