Hey, mind looking into that crystal ball and telling me who will win the World Series this year?

The Dallas Cowboys:D

BTW: If they are testing the "iPhone PRO" so close to WWDC why would the test it with the iPhone 3g? If the new iPhone is around the corner id expect them to be testing the new one for any type of flaws in hardware, software, and any type of construction flaws.

Makes sense that they would be testing with the current case. My best friend works for RIM and said they usuay test the internals in the old casing so nobody knows.

For all your retards who are bitching about the battery percentage thing

When you jailbreak your iphone you are able to get battery percentage. But it takes the place of the actual battery image and also does not show a percentage sign. In the 3.0 betas there is also a battery percentage sign but it does not take place of the battery image and also has a percentage sign. Ok get it?

3.0 on the left
jailbroken 2.2.1 on the right

No need for this. The know it alls are simply trying to save face.

It's not in the betas NOW, but I'm sure neither are some things that will be in the final 3.0 build.

Let them wallow in their stubbornness.

Seriously. These other people are making themselves look like Idiots (tallest skil, general, etc.)

Not all of the features that will be in 3.0 are active in the BETA! You have to jailbreak to activate the feature NOW, because it's not the final software yet. There's plenty of other features in the software that needed a little hacking to activate that were announced would be in 3.0 if I remember correctly.

Also, the battery precentage is nothing like the jailbroken battery percentage, as seen in those pics that were posted.

And just because bossprefs enables battery percentage does not make it ''a hidden part of the software since 1.0" it was just a hack that showed the battery percentage, that doesn't mean that it was an apple-created feature that has been hidden. This battery percentage seen in 3.0 is an apple created feature that has been hidden in the BETA of the software. Just wait until the final version when all of the options (mms, tethering, battery %, video recording, bluetooth transfer, etc.) will be available.

Oh, and since everyone's arguing about this like little bitches, I guess I'll join in too. Tallest Skil and The General are acting like ****ing babies about this. Grow the **** up, open up your mind and quit being so defensive. If your original comments weren't so full of douchebaggery then you wouldn't have to backtrack and cover your asses so much.

So the general.. do you feel stupid .. and willl you admit that this IS a feature in 3.0 .. thanks to someone else noticing the % symbol... i was right you were WRONG ...

IN YOUR FACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thank goodness you posted this. if it wasn't you then it would be me. this bickering and pride on these forums is incredible and shameful to be honest. some people here have to realize that they don't know everything (and that arguing on the internet is pretty much useless).

The fact that so many people have claimed certain features will not be in 3.0 based on what's in the beta is amazing to me.

Look how many features weren't announced during the March 2008 2.0 roadmap or present in the 2.0 beta, yet they were announced at 2008 WWDC.

Do you really think Apple's going to take the introduction of the 3rd iPhone and simply say "Here's the new hardware, we've already showed you all the software." Nope.

Battery percentage has been activate-able via hax since 1.0.0. What makes you think it will be a real option in 3.0?

And just because bossprefs enables battery percentage does not make it ''a hidden part of the software since 1.0" it was just a hack that showed the battery percentage, that doesn't mean that it was an apple-created feature that has been hidden.

It IS an Apple-created "feature" ... it is just disabled by default. All BossPrefs (etc...) does is modify a plist settings file and enable the option. It's not some special program. As noted in one of the above posts, it looks different in 3.0 versus 2.2.1 and below. That doesn't mean it's going to be an official option, available to all without hax.

This battery percentage seen in 3.0 is an apple created feature that has been hidden in the BETA of the software. Just wait until the final version when all of the options (mms, tethering, battery %, video recording, bluetooth transfer, etc.) will be available.

Again, it's been "hidden" since 1.0.0. I really want to know what makes you think it will be a real option in 3.0 final. I really need to know this. Was in something Scott Forstall or Phil Schiller said? If so, then by all means - you are all right and I am wrong.

Too bad they said nothing of the sort.

All I said was that it was a complete fabrication that this battery percentage thing is going to be an official feature in 3.0 final. Now, unless you people can find me a video or an Apple press release saying that "yes, 3.0 will have an option to turn on battery percentage" then I maintain my stance on this issue.

So the general.. do you feel stupid .. and willl you admit that this IS a feature in 3.0 .. thanks to someone else noticing the % symbol... i was right you were WRONG ...

I can't see any reason as of yet to feel stupid. You have failed to prove me wrong thus far. The only things we know for sure are:

1.0.0 has a disabled option for battery percentage.*
1.0.1 has a disabled option for battery percentage.*
1.0.2 has a disabled option for battery percentage.*
1.1.1 has a disabled option for battery percentage.*
1.1.2 has a disabled option for battery percentage.*
1.1.3 has a disabled option for battery percentage.*
1.1.4 has a disabled option for battery percentage.*
1.1.5 has a disabled option for battery percentage.*
2.0 betas have a disabled option for battery percentage.*
2.0 final has a disabled option for battery percentage.*
2.0.1 has a disabled option for battery percentage.*
2.0.2 has a disabled option for battery percentage.*
2.1 has a disabled option for battery percentage.*
2.2 has a disabled option for battery percentage.*
2.2.1 has a disabled option for battery percentage.*
3.0 betas have a disabled option for battery percentage.* **

*Which can be activated via jailbreak.
**Looks slightly different.

So, based on what we know, there's no reason to believe that 3.0 is going to officially have this feature. Over 20 releases of different firmware versions, all of which included a disabled option to turn on battery percentage, and not a single time did they make it an official feature.

did you see the pic that you can enable the battery percentage NOT through jailbreak

Umm, so if this percentage has been there since 1.0.0, then does anyone have a 2.2.1 and is willing to modify their plist to see if this percentage was there?

oh yeah general i dare you to show me ONE photo of a jailbroken iphone with a% sign and battery... please please show me.. you cant cause you cant get it through jailbreak.... YOUR WRONG

They changed the way 3.0 displays the percentage when you change the plist. In previous firmwares, you can only get a number, but in 3.0, you can have the percentage and the battery icon at the same time. You don't have to jailbreak 3.0 to achieve this either. You jailbreak 2.2.1, then upgrade to 3.0 and restore your settings. Trust me.

As stated before, I have 3.0 beta 5 on my iPhone 3G. There is no option. Attached are screenshots of what my Usage menu looks like.

There is no option to turn on battery percentage.

It doesn't have the percent sign. That is new in the 3.0 beta. The option is still hidden by default. You have to jailbreak to unhide it.

There is a screenshot of exactly what you ask in the quote just below this. Don't mistake it for a non-jailbroken phone. The screenshot directly below is from a jailbroken phone.

I don't think he did, lol.

That screenshot is from a jailbroken iPhone running 3.0 beta.

These screenshots are from my non-jailbroken 3.0 beta 5 iPhone:

Wow.

I have the same beta 5 release. And guess what, I don't have MMS, tethering or battery percentage options. But they've all been there in the past - they've been removed from the current beta. Just because you have a beta, doesn't mean you have 3.0. I'm guessing you don't have the rumored video recording feature either - that doesn't mean the 3.0 software doesn't have it.

None of these features may return, or all of them may return; but 3.0 has without a doubt had the ability to enable battery indications natively.

I'm not saying 3.0 isn't going to have video recording, MMS or tethering. I'm saying it's not going to have the battery percentage indicator. None of the betas have had the feature (without hax) and Apple never said it was going to be in 3.0. There is no reason to believe that it will be an actual feature in 3.0. That's all I'm saying.

MMS and tethering have been there in the past, but video recording and battery percentage indicator have never been there.

It's not a feature. It never has been a feature. It is not going to be a feature.

MMS and tethering were likely removed due to pressure from AT&T.

The battery percentage indicator, much like the Logging and Diagnostic tools, are for internal use only - much like the debugging menu in Safari or the minimize-in-place functionality of the dock.

It's possible Apple may open up the battery % for everyone, but I wouldn't count on it.

MMS and tethering have been there in the past, but video recording and battery percentage indicator have never been there.

So because video recording/percentage indicator haven't been enabled in the current betas, that means they aren't there?

If you hack the 3.0 betas for FILE ACCESS, you will see that video recording/percentage indicator are there, but they're disabled because they're not meant to be seen. But that does not mean they aren't present.

The only problem I see with this logic is that you agree that there hasn't been a battery percentage meter without a hack or in any other firmwares, but what has me a little confused in your reasoning is that you state that the 3.0 may have video recording. As far as I know the 3.0 betas don't have any video recording capabilities now, but it seems like a sure bet it will be in there. My point is can't you use that same logic for the battery percentage meter?

3.0b5 has video recording capability, but the video-ready Camera.app and Photos/Movies applications (along with the Compass app) either aren't installed or are otherwise made nonfunctional.

The 2.0 betas probably did similar things with GPS/App Store functionality.

That's a pretty bold statement.

Take a look at this Front Page story on Macrumors: iPhone 3.0 Beta Galleries Illustrate New Features

The screenshot images are from BoyGeniusReport.com: Exclusive Apple iPhone 3.0 screenshots leak out

And some UI resource photos from AppleInsider: New discoveries turn up in betas of Apple's iPhone 3.0 software

Video recording is mentioned in the 3.0 firmware. It hasn't been in any other firmware. It's new and we are expecting new hardware.

Battery percentage has been in the firmware since 1.0 and has never been official. All they've done is change the look slightly.

That's what makes video recording more likely to be in the final firmware release than battery percentage.
