I just don't wanna end up either not being able to get a new iPhone or having to settle for one that's been all changed around because of this lawsuit.

Even if Google were successful (it won't be), Apple isn't going to let their biggest revenue source be banned for very long.

Even if it isn't banned for long id hate to have to get one that is all changed around because of the patents lawsuit. Like no Siri or a worse version

But how could they ever win? I'm sure the development of LTE was a huge undertaking, a massive joint venture by many firms. It was an evolution of the industry, something Samsung cannot possibly claim exclusive rights over.

We don't know what the patents are. It isn't necessarily something to do with the LTE chip but could be how it's implemented in specific ways. It could be complete and utter BS. We won't know until we get to trial in a year or so.

Well we might as well say bye to Apple. Google is pretty much GOD at this point. For all we know Google probably runs the CIA, the FBI, Disney World and Satan HAHA

It took them a year to come up with whats coming out. If it has to be changed.....who knows when it will be out. However, its three weeks away. Just get the new one when it first comes out. It may not have LTE anyways so it wont matter.

Of the 7 patents Motorola/google put in the lawsuit 6 of them are things I wouldn't wanna lose which is why I'm wondering if I shouldn't just use my upgrade and get a 4s so I can have those things.

Just get the next iPhone when it comes out, jeez. Like others have said, just relax man.

If I knew for sure no doubts at all that the new 5 wouldn't be effected at all by the lawsuit for at least a couple of months I would but idk the 4s is looking better and better

Motorola/Google are in talks with Apple to settle their patent disputes and even if Samsung sues Apple's next iPhone because it's LTE compatible, they won't win it. LTE is a FRAND standard essentials patent, so if anything, Samsung will be forced to license it to Apple.

You've got nothing to worry about. Just get the iPhone 5 and be done with it. ;)

And even if the new iphone can match the DL speed AND they don't cripple the wifi hotspot capability like they have in the past, you'd STILL be almost 4 months behind what us "cheap plastic" owners have been enjoying.

Guess it sucks to be so concerned with materials that you ignore the benefits of faster download capabilities. Hmmm, faster downloads and ability to power multiple devices data hungry needs or materials.....tough choice.

Damn....4 months. My life has been wasted. I should just kill myself now.

Do you really think having a feature 4 months before everyone else is truly that important? And the downloading you describe, most people wouldn't be able to do anyway due to carrier data limits. Pointless. I'm not saying I won't enjoy and don't want LTE, I'm very much looking forward to it. However, your example is on the extreme side and your reply a bit over the top. Of course, perhaps you're just upset at someone stating your phone was made of "cheap plastic"......

What would they ban, even no iPhone 5 real product yet.

They are wanting to put a ban on previous products as well like the iPhone 4 and 4s and a few of the iPods and the "new" iPad.

LOL Now Apple is going after the Galaxy 3! I do find it odd that the Galaxy Nexus is being left out of all this.

I wonder if these "talks" are about the older 3G lawsuit or the newer 7 patent lawsuit?? I wonder how the talks are going?? Here's a link:

Hey guys... don't worry about the new iphone or iphone 5..

Just get a Galaxy S3 and you'll forget everything about the iPhone.

:D

I had one and took it back after 30 days and got a 4s for now. The s3 is the best android device I have used but it still had its bugs and poor signal in buildings vs my iPhone that actually works in the same buildings.

This blog may help..

This is the best blog I found that deal with all the patent lawsuits related to Apple... Looks like 2014 is the earliest date for any resolution and it does not look particularly strong.... I disagree that the patent lawsuit is not important. Just think about a place like China where there is no law to protect any intellectual property, there is no incentive to invent anything. They basically copy everything from everywhere and call it their own. Copying is easy, Samsung get their phone out in 3 months while Apple took about 5 years (check out the argument in Apple vs Samsung case). If there is no protection on the invention, there will be none and we will all be poorer because of the lack of invention. Is it fair? is it good for the society as a whole?

All seven patents-in-suit are homegrown Motorola patents. That is relevant in two ways. On the one hand, it makes sense given that the ITC threw out five patents Google gave to HTC for the purpose of asserting them against Apple. On the other hand, it is a safe assumption that Motorola picked its strongest patents before, and is now suing over patents that it previously considered less strong than others. Prior to this ITC complaint, Motorola had already asserted more than two dozen different patents against Apple, which it preferred over its other patents, including the seven it pulled out now.

The '370 patent is the only one of the seven patents to have been asserted in prior litigation at all. It is at issue between Motorola and Microsoft in the Western District of Washington, where the parties' infringement claims are currently stayed. Motorola claims in its ITC complaint that Apple must be aware of the '370 patent "at least through its monitoring of" the related Motorola v. Microsoft case.

The ITC will undoubtedly open an investigation of this complaint within about a month. The target date for the investigation will likely be somewhere in the first half of 2014.

So does that mean that this won't effect the iPhone 5 at all then?
