after the rulings today in which apple won over 1 billion dollars, itll be interesting to see what happens with this case...because the patents Motorola holds and accuses of apple infringing are, are one the same level as those apple accused samsung of infringing on...and those patents are quite old too, way before the iphone came out...and there is NO way Motorola's patents could be considered FRAND ones...so i really wanna see how this case goes!

None of the patents Motorola is accusing apple of are standards essential, so they won’t have to be licensed to Apple under restrictive FRAND terms. And the whole batch, taken together, looks pretty impressive. Motorola also filed a parallel suit with the same patents in District Court of Delaware. What does that mean exacltly?? Is this good for apple or bad?

Wow, all of this patent infringement is crazy.

Now that Apple has won over Samsung, it looks like Google/Moto are taking on Apple.

This might be a historic event if all these tech giants start suing each other at such a level (banning products).

Could someone please explain to me what this means exactly???? I don't understand this FRAND stuff or what it means for apple and this lawsuit.

Hahahahahhahaha! Like this will stop apple. They have how much money just lying around? The can easily make this go away, if they need to.

The world is not that corrupt yet. I hope you realize google can easily pick apart apple with all their holdings.

In other news, God sues Apple, Samsung, and Motorola for patent infringements based on his sight, sound, and touch technologies. All phones banned worldwide, except for the Middle East, where Allah is the patent holder.

Additionally, supreme being merger rumors continue to escalate, as mysterious filings with the SEC describe a new global tech venture called "Gollah LLC", an "all knowing vertically funded concern", with assets listed as "EVERYTHING"..

Google doesn't want Apple to stop - it wants Apple to hand over tons of money. I love companies such as Google that really doesn't produce anything vs. companies like Apple that actually have products that they produce and sell.

The only people who benefit at all are lawyers - a group that should be regulated out of existance.

Your kidding me right? Google doesn't produce anything? Have you visited their website? Google produces some of the web's top services, some that have revolutionized the internet that you know. Also Google doesn't give two hoots about the money, they are chasing after Apple more as a retaliation to protect the companies that use their OS. Protecting it's brothers if you will.

it means round 2 of Apple's thermonuclear war with Google/Motorola striking back.

Since I live in Canada, this would not affect me... As this would be a US ban only. So I'll make sure to share a bunch of my new iPhone pictures with you guys. ;)

screw that just purchase an extra one to sell via ebay; everyone else most likely will do it. I won't but it'll happen.

I just wish for Patent disputes that there is ONE major court for all nations and with representatives and jurers selected from all involved nations; no more excuses by Android fans of "us court, us company, us jurers, us outcome" bul like what I'm seeing everything about the recent win by Apple.

With the rate of patent wars springing around between these companies, I won't be surprised if the next iPhone is shaped like leaf

I think (feel free to correct me people cause i'm likely wrong) that it means the patents that they are accuising apple of are somewhat a necessity in technology and cannot be patented or some crap like that.

As if pinch to zoom isn't a necessity in touch screens but hey apple has its patent and it isn't frand!

There is clearly no justice in the states.

the opposite. Motorola's patents are not standards essential meaning they are not essential for building a phone and therefore Motorola doesn't need to license it to other companies. Basically it's Apple vs. Samsung round 2 with Motorola assuming the role of Apple and Apple assuming the role of Samsung.

So this is really really bad for apple then?

Apple's thermonuclear patent war is now their only chance of survival given how stagnated the iOS platform is. As a result of this, Google suffers, Apple suffers, the legal system suffers, and most importantly, we the consumer suffer. Enough already Apple! Settle these frivolous disputes, and get back to doing what you do best.

Really? How are we "suffering"? Strange, I don't feel like I'm suffering. Maybe we need to redefine suffering on a geek forum.

And you wont be today. But what goes around comes around and we the consumers will pay in the long run. It will affect us all. Apple won't win when Google sues them for the notification patent.

Anyone, so is this really really bad for apple then???
