Im with You on the ASmallAP front but what about the top and bottom bazels? Those fugly things needs to go!
I don't give a flying ******* about the fingerprint scanner in the home button to be honest. If the hb is here to stay (for years to come) i will seriously think, that the fp scanner was one of the dumbest Apple ideas :(

Sure, Apple's implementation of a fingerprint scanner which up to now has been shown to be the perfect implementation is one of their dumbest ideas.

The feature that every other phone maker is now scrambling to copy and slap on their devices, but even then falling short of Apple's implementation.

The feature that highlighted a problem that people didn't even know they had - the 'hassle' of typing in a passcode. No one thought that was much of a hassle until they used the 5S for a week.

That's too much curve. If you were to replace the chamfer with a curve to take the sharp edges away, you would want it no larger than the chamfer and possibly smaller. Re render and try that.

Whilst the renderings aren't great, it at least points out that a curved glass front doesn't have to mean what the rest of the industry's offerings have to offer, like LG's banana-phone and Samsung's whatever-that-is.

Is it just me, or are these renderings getting progressively worse?

On quick glance, it looks to me like an iPhone crossed mildly with an HTC One M8.

Not saying that is a good or bad thing, but if it was to be that thin then I cannot help but feel that "back pocket bending" has got to be an issue?

You make it sound like the fp scanner is the best thing since sliced bread. I couldn't care less about gimmicks like that, i want the bazels gone.

The screen graphics are wrapped around the edges ? I bet it's not going to be like that... That's a silly rendering.

This feature is not even close to a gimmick. For instance, I get my work emails from my iPhone, which results on passcode enforcement (the same stands with android phones that connect to the microsoft exchange server). You should see their faces every time they need to unlock it to check for their mails... The lack of this feature can become really annoying.

Getting better - at least this looks less like the 3GS than those other renders - and it won't put holes in my trouser pockets (like the 5 does!)

Yeah concave made no sense, other than curving around your body in a pocket. I could imagine it getting squashed between two flat surfaces (like in an overstuffed laptop case) and snapping in two.

Oh yeah, B&O actually made a "banana phone". Here's a nice ripe bunch:

Apple negotiating $100 price increase with carriers!?!?! If this is somehow reflected towards the consumer prices of unlocked iPhones then they have gone insane in Cupertino. Currently iPhone 5S 64GB without contract is 899€ In Europe meaning around $1245. If they plan to increase the price then have failed to see why more and more Androids are being sold.

Curving the actual display display area would be the most wasteful idiotic and backwards thing they could possibly do.

No the most wasteful, idiotic and backwards thing to do would be to consider your comments of any authority on the matter.

Having the glass on the side could easily supplement space that would otherwise not be used (i.e.: to close to the edge for human fingers to comfortably operate). One edge could represent power level, the other volume level just to name a few uses of the side curve. It would most certainly be more comfortable to hold as well opposed to sharp edges.

I don't really like the curved edges, I much better the straighter edges on current devices.

I have a hard time believing that apple would completely eliminate the side bezels. In real life use it seems impractical. IMHO

The shrinking of the side bezels is not the problem. I had a LG G2 for a week and the smaller side bezels did not offend me. It's the curve that's leading off the sides.

1. Does not look right.
2. Cases are going to have a hard time fitting.
3. I love glass screen protectors.

Wow, that is terrible. Literally there is no point to this curve - all you are doing is losing around 10 pixels of content on each edge.

The Touch ID scanner could be integrated into the screen, so the home button may disappear, either with the iPhone 6 of a future version.

I see that working more with Android onscreen buttons that can appear, disappear and change shape to accommodate an invisible screen sensor. The chances of the physical home button disappearing from Apple devices is slim to none. I expect Samsung/Android to do that first.

Round is sexy.

I like +1. I miss the feel of iPhone 3.

And this might give an impression of what Jony planned for the iWatch. Rounded edges make a lot sense for a watch and Ive always created design aspects to match with the whole family of products.

I get the impression Nay-sayers tend to feel a bit conservative.

I dont understand the rounded corners - the squarer edges of the current iPhone make it more grippable. Round edges make it slipperier.

How would bumpers and cases work? Even a bumper on an iPhone 5 makes certain gestures difficult.

"The phone that needs no case" ...?

With the greatest of respect, are you high?

Apple spend approximately three quarters of a trillion dollars tooling up for each iPhone, and you think the cost of changing a cutter in a CNC machine would be cost prohibitive?

Lol.

Three quarters of a trillion? $750 BILLION?

I'd like to see a source on that statement.

I don't think it costs 750 billion dollars for retooling for a smartphone.

It looks okay to me. I don't care for the shade of gold he used and I think he over-exposed the lighting on the render making it too white-washed. but otherwise, it looks neat.

While I'm impressed these guys are cranking out renders this quickly, I can't say I believe they are heading in the right direction. My gut tells me that the renders that utilize the same backing as the iPad Mini and iPad Air are closer to what we will see. Even if my personal preference is for the iPhone to stand alone from the iPad line. I don't want them all looking similar.

If they ever do use curved glass, I hope it is some super structure that is incredibly durable and wraps the entirety of the device. Or not. I'm not Jony Ive. :apple:
