Not gonna happen. Look at the 9.7" iPad Pro, already a superior device than its same-gen brother.
Eh, the 12.9 inch has double the RAM. 9.7 inch just has true tone. I'd probably pick the 12.9 inch if I bought right now (But I'm waiting for the second gen).

That said, it's looking more and more that the 5.5 inch phone is going to be significantly better than the 4.7 inch phone. Disappointing for sure.

It's probably just the proximity sensor, which is hard to see IRL but has been on every iPhone so far.
I could have sworn the ambient light sensor and proximity sensor had been combined for at least the last two iPhone generations.

That's a trademark feature of the iPhone, which encompasses huge intangible capital. It will be unwise to remove it.
.

I understand my bias here as I am firmly on Team Reduce-The-Damn-Size-Already, but if Apple were to release an iPhone with an unobtrusive, software home button with integrated TouchID sensor in the screen, there wouldn't be a concern in the world about the intangible capital of the physical home button. I can see the presentation bragging about how revolutionary it is, how Apple has reduced the overall phone size by 30%! (I made that number up, don't freak out on me) to make the iPhone more usable and how the integrated TouchID somehow makes us all safer because it does.

This is just pipeline garbage. Designed two years ago.

Best case scenario where Apple wakes (the F) up and starts thinking about realy good and groundbreaking products right now. Bad news is that we have to wait another two years before it comes out the pipeline.

I've always felt the 6 series looked dated on day one. Looks like it was designed in 1979.

I'm barely impressed enough to disparage it. But I suppose if it comes in colors to match your watch band that is something.

i hope customers will raise their voice with a closed wallet tbh. Apple is like on another Level thinking they can get away with anything and I hope it bites them in the ass at some point soon.

I love my Apple products but their behavior from a customer point of view is getting insane.

Keeping my iPhone 6 for a little while longer it seems.

The iPhone looks so dated yes even my iPhone 6. that freaking bezel makes it look like the tube tv of Smartphones while everyone else is already selling slim 4K UHDTVs (if u get my analogy)

4K Video, better photo cameras, better display technology, outlined antennas on the LTE model (looks better), True Tone flash.

If dual-lens camera only comes to 5.5 then I'll skip buying the iPhone this time. I don't understand why not put dual lens camera on 4.7, it would certainly drive the sell up for iPhone.

I'll venture a guess that the metal ring isn't there because they'll mold the back plate to include the back bump. Then you just add the lens into that. Makes no difference to me, unless my work is paying for another upgrade this year I'll stick with my current 6s+ until the new screens come out next year. New cameras are always nice and are always my biggest reason for purchasing a new device but with the obvious new screen change coming, there's zero reason for me to get 7 plus.. or 7 pro.. or iphone pro or whatever they'll call it. :p

Ah yeah forgot about the better camera tech, good point.

I'm kinda thinking that it would probably be best if this minor update is scrapped and Apple just took longer to release the fully redesigned iPhone 7.
Maybe just add incentives starting in September with larger storage and discounts.
A meh one-off made up of minor updates to an ugly design and badly thought out iPhone 6 that is not selling well, is starting to look like a really bad idea.
Just scrap it.

Stuck on a half working NExus 6 awaiting to see if I should just grab a 6s+ or wait for 7. I think I'll grab the 6S+ at the end of this month. From the looks of it the 7 will be a tough sale, but keep in mind - us posting on these forums are a small percent of the purchasing population. This phone will sell, it'll sell great and apple will make dough. I'll hang out for the 2017 model - just makes more sense at this point. The 6S series seems solid all around.

On another note, the smart connector will be awesome if it supports things like a flash attachment - camera button add on and - etc.

The home button isn't going anywhere either. It's their trademark, it may get smaller , lower or less noticeable but it's not going to get removed.

why is everyone so obsessed with the looks?

The speed difference of the Processor and Touch ID ALONE were enough for me to upgrade from the 6 to the 6s.

Not sure it's been mentioned before, but my guess as to why Apple hasn't adjusted the design on the iPhone 7 is that 2017 marks the 10 year anniversary of the iPhone.

They're most likely holding off for something grand.

I'm set to upgrade this fall, but I'm thinking of holding off.

Except the 6s is not selling well, and pushing more of the same doesn't sound like a winning strategy.
Consumers are not stupid. They expect an Apple product to be the best, not almost as good as last years Samsung, except with huge honking bezels all around making humongously ridicoulous for a flagship.

I'm going to laugh so hard when the new iPhone comes out and it doesn't look anything like all these "leaks".

Why do you people think anyone really knows what Apple is going to release? We haven't seen any solid proof yet.

I would love it if next year's device was the same vanilla color of the original mac. Put the old logo on the back too! Won't happen, but it would be pretty amazing if they spiced things up a little bit, going nostalgic.

I really want to as well. I've been wanting 2 gb of ram and support for the 700mhz LTE band for so long but kept telling myself to wait for the 7. If these rumors are true ill be so bummed I didn't buy the 6S last year.

But they do have me in a good spot for them as I will probably buy the iPhone 7 and then upgrade again after one year when they finally get a new form factor.

If I never switched to TMobile I would probably put up with the 1GB of ram for another year, but without band 12, TMobile is useless.
I see. I'm on verizon and, quite honestly, I'm typically running on local Wifi anyways. The camera would probably be the biggest thing I'd be interested in (although 3D touch is sick it's not really all that useful yet). I too await the new form factor. I was so ready to do Apple's annual upgrade plan too.

Beautifully designed products had always been an Apple hallmark. People have come to expect that.
It's the same with all great products.
True, we should all just settle with badly designed products or ugly cars and ugly mates because it's what's inside that matters. But that strategy didn't work out for Android or Windows laptops or most anything else.
People still love supermodels and sexy cars and laptops and phones.
