This has to be the least interesting iPhone release for me, ever. Three years with the same model.

Next year's iPhone better be something completely different.

what devices have a smart connector? devices with a "pro" tag. why is this not yet a confirmed rumor. iphone pro, the only 5.5" iphone 7 device.

What's next, the 7 still having 16GB standard but 32GB for the 7 Plus?
If they call it the iPhone Pro, then yes. And the 32gb Pro will be the same price as the current 64gb Plus regardless of having half the storage.

I cannot at all understand anyone defending the Pro name changes, specifically for the iPad Pro 9.7"! The Air 3 would have got those exact same features had they not slapped the Pro moniker on it solely to increase the price of the iPad. And they're gonna do it again to the iPhone; retcon the name Plus to Pro, raise the price another $100.

Getting the Plus anyway, so happy for the improvements. Sucks for being that don't want a huge phone, either way its getting hard to get excited for this year iPhone, next years looks like the one that should be this year.

ah the haters have arrived, living up to the MR brand...

if you're "done with Apple" because the phone doesn't look new enough, or because the bigger plus can handle bigger components, then you were never in to begin with.

you'll get no better love with Samsung.

I think a lot will depend on the OS. Its not only apple, but a number of mobile phone manufacturers are running out of ideas of how their mobile phone looks like.

That's going to be annoying because I would love the newer dual lens camera but I can't stand the size of the plus model phones.

But the RAM, the RAM, how does it not bother you?

Probably a similar reason as to why it doesn't bother me. I'd love more RAM but I'm not shelling out on so/so upgrades just to get more RAM.

I'm sticking with my 6+ if the 7 turns out to be as rumours predict. If next years model doesn't start bringing some of the old Apple magic. I may have to, God forbid I never want it to happen, look elsewhere for the excitement the iPhone is lacking in these days.

Don't think I've ever wanted a rumour to be more wrong. If all the rumours about the 7 are true I'll be disappointed. And I can't believe I'm saying this (I'm Apple mad) but if it is just a relatively minor refresh that'll be the first time I've ever not bought 2 iPhones at release. I skipped the 6s, first time I've not upgrade because, well, it just did nothing for me.

If the 7 is basically a 6sS, then Apple really is getting stale. I know there's a limit to what can be done with current tech but Christ this is Apple, do something to wow me. Y'know like you used to.

Absolutely right. And especially so given the recent highly-praised phones released by Samsung and HTC.

I'm starting to feel constrained by the ecosystem because I have HomeKit doorlocks and I'm used to the convenience of using Siri to unlock my doors. I guess that's what Apple wanted. But it might not be enough to keep me from jumping ship if the grass really is greener on the other side of the walled garden....

Here's the thing, though: Many of us don't care about being "in." We didn't purchase Apple products to join some club. I have been using Apple products in one form or another almost continuously since I bought my first Mac in 1986, but that was because I liked the products and agreed with the underlying philosophy. To the extent those things change or become better-championed by another company, then it makes perfect sense to criticize the change and to jump ship.

It would be funny as all hell that these are controlled leaks with "nothing of interest, move along" and -- WHAM! -- something totally innovative and different is the real iPhone 7. Then the nay sayers need to pick their jaws off the floor.

So far the only things we've heard about the 7 (not the plus) is that it will have a slightly better camera, and the assumed slightly better processor.

If these rumors are true and the 7 is as disappointing as they claim, I'll just pick up a 6S Plus.

I'm really hoping for this. That would be phenomenal! Instead of us hoping for more and being disappointed, we would be expecting less and be blown away. They've been fighting this image of a lack of innovation for years. That would dry up that image super fast. Brilliant marketing and all of us would be ecstatic! Here's hoping!

Less than four months before Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which may have a "Pro" moniker instead, purported new blueprints of the smartphones have been shared by uSwitch on behalf of noted leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, who runs the Twitter account OnLeaks.

The drawings, purportedly sourced directly from Taiwan-based Apple casing subcontractor Catcher Technology, seemingly confirm that Apple plans to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack on both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Both smartphones will also retain protruding cameras, but without the metal ring around the lenses.

Meanwhile, the drawings show that Apple plans to add a dual-lens camera system and Smart Connector exclusively to the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus, much to the chagrin of some customers that are hopeful Apple will not differentiate features beyond screen size. The 4.7-inch iPhone 7 will supposedly retain a single-lens camera.

The report also corroborates rumors claiming Apple will reposition the rear antenna bands along the top and bottom of its next iPhones, but the drawings also stifle stereo speaker rumors with only a single speaker grille shown on both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Each smartphone retains a Lightning port and bottom microphone.

Both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus look similar to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s series, suggesting that Apple will retain the same overall smartphone design beyond minor tweaks for three consecutive years. The report confirms the new iPhones will have identical dimensions as the current 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models.

Recent rumors have been conflicting about which features Apple will reserve for the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, or OLED-based iPhone expected in 2017, but these drawings are mostly in line with expectations. The images were reportedly taken from Apple's January testing stage, however, so changes could arise.

Why not 3 lenses. Why not 50 lenses with lenses switching out to decrease angle of view like a zoom lens. God, I'm brilliant.

While your comment is mirth, look up "bug eye camera" and have at it. The concept of a camera based on hundreds of small pin-drop sized lenses has been around for decades. It is really getting some traction with optical MEMS technologies. IMO, it would make a great case accessory.

looks like note 6 is likely my next phone then...will keep going with my 6s plus. Or I might just roll with the s7 edge until next year.
