I completely agree! Something about that screen looks...unreal!
Somehow I'm getting the feeling that these Chinese videos are published so more sales are directed towards the android phones.

Also any iPhone 7 variants produced right now won't be running any iOS software. They'd be running the test OS first like in the videos of last year's 6s prototypes.

I think what's worse is people endlessly forgiving poor design because of reputation and past glory. "Applogists". This design is poor and lacking any true effort whatever you think.

The solution for you and all the others is simple: don't buy the next iPhone.

But in order to really make an impact, make sure to tell EVERYONE you didn't buy an iPhone. And make sure to have your excuses lined up when Apple sells a gazillion of them and reviewers give it the highest rating for any smartphone. You'll have to find a reason to explain why they sold so well despite your proclamations it's a horrible design.

I see you already like the term "apologists". You're on the right track. You need to add "fanboy" or "Apple faithful" to your repertoire to really make it count.

It's because of the new design language of the backside. They wanted the metal to be as clean as possible. Funny how people don't understand such things. Probably not many people can thing in a clear way.

Yeah, most people can't 'thing' in a clear way. Apparently, most people who like to criticize others don't know how to speel, either.

Am I the only one who actually really likes the iPhone 6/6S design? It looks much more luxurious than the previous iPhones. I do agree, though, that removing the headphone jack is not a good idea.

Don't think a flush fitting stainless steel ring around the camera module would have been too much to ask for. Anything to minimize that bump. Apple penny pinching to maintain profit margins like you read about.

How can this possibly be from the same company that made the beautiful iPhone 4? When the 4 came out, SJ compared it to a Leika camera, what are they going to compare this to?
A 1972 Ford Pinto...

No, you're not the only one. Hundreds of millions of people agree with you. But a few "experts" here on MR seem to think they speak for the entire planet with their opinions.

Nope, it's just that most people will use a case so it doesn't matter how the phone looks. What matters is iOS and hardware components. That's just me though.

I don't really mind a couple of years of S type updates. S versions are usually the better ones to buy. It's on Apple to learn how to sell them better. The iphone 6 plus, for example, went from a laggy piece of bendable crap to usable with the S version.
You're wrong. You still need to sell the phone before a case gets slapped on. Don't kid yourself, design very much matters. This according to Steve Jobs AND Jony Ive. It's form and function--a hallmark of Apple design dating back to the company's beginning.

I think IMO the issue is that most consumers have come to expect a new design every two years, not every three... The iPhone 6/S/? is aesthetically stale.

Still an ugly generic looking design. The antenna lines are like c-section lines. You can move them lower but they're still there. Apple can clearly afford better designers. While they're at it center the camera.
A generically centered camera like everyone else?

Why do so many people care what a phone looks like vs. what it does. How shallow can you be - so if it did everything you ever wanted but wasn't beautiful because the camera sticks out you would think it was bad. What a shame. Do you folks wear it around your neck so people can see how pretty it is or other than using it sits in a case in a pocket or purse, etc.
Does it do what you want it to do. How about looking pretty but not functioning - I think you folks would prefer that.

Design is very important to many people. Why can't we want both? Improved externals and internals. The iPhone 3, 4 and even 5 were design classics. 6 is terrible especially with those ugly antenna bands and now we are getting antenna bands again which look somehow even worse! And this camera.... it is difficult to imagine that any designer would create these bands. Just blend the colour to match the metal! This is a phone which will not be on display at the Design Museums as an example of excellence in design. What a disappointmental!

I bet you are telling everyone you are going to buy the iPhone 7 right now and that it will be awesome, without knowing what it will look like it it's features .... ;) kettle meet pot.

To add .... I think it is becoming clear that Ives lacks the sense of knowing what is and what isn't good design. Appears that Steve Jobs must have been the one to control the design and ensure it was esthetically pleasing. Ives should get his friend Marc Newson to help him. Now there is a man who understands design!

Sticking with a refined iphone 6 design isn't exactly risking bad design. This design has worked well for Apple the last two years (maybe not so much for the 6S but part of that is bad marketing too and trying to use lame 3d touch as the main new feature).

What's important to me is internals, screen, and any new features specific to the new phone with iOS 10.

Ironically, it's the small change in design (that people are crying for) that would make me hesitate such as eliminating the headphone jack. Be careful what you wish for.. Along that line, I can't say I'm liking the lock screen at all with iOS 10. Afterall, Apple has said they design the hardware around its software. This new phone has ios 10 in mind which has both good and bad in it..imo.

We thank you for your infinite patience in dealing with our shortcomings and inadequacies. I hope, to one day thing in a clear way just like you.

Let me get this straight:

You fabricate something (that I'm telling people I'm getting the next iPhone), and then use your fabrication to claim I'm the kettle meeting the pot?

Are you not able to discuss things people ACTUALLY said, or do you need to make up something you THINK they said in order to try and make a point?

I think it's ok to accept that you will buy the next iPhone even if it is ugly for you.

We love the philosophy behind it, we love the experience it brings, we love how it makes us feel.

I absolutely hate the current design. Yet, I bought it.

One of the many things Steve Jobs said that I love is " Some mistakes will be made along the way, that's good, because at least some decisions are being made ..."

He was talking about the cohesive vision at Apple. And also the great amount of work that is put into it.

Minute 50:23

Compared to what others offer, the phone that I bought is the one that I prefer. (Even if it's fugly)

Do you think before you post? For starters, Newson has high praise for Ive and his work. If you claim Newson knows how to design, then how do you reconcile that with his praise for Ive?

News flash, Marc Newson started working for Apple back in 2014.

No he won't. And wireless is a killer feature? Sure it is, when you have to shell out for several expensive (compared to a cable) wireless pads to place everywhere you want to lay down your device to charge.

I'd need 2 for home (office/den and bedroom), one for work and one for my car. And if I need to pick up my charging phone to answer a call or check an email, it stops charging. Wireless charging is highly overrated. It's only very very slightly more convenient (and a fraction quicker) then simply setting my iPhone down on a dock or plugging it in. It's not revolutionary or mind blowing and it doesn't have any meaningful impact on my daily usage.

I'm not spending money on something that offers me so very little in return.
Wireless charging?!?! You mean like the Palm Pre? Thats old news. It wasnt a killer feature then, and it sure isn't now.

And another fan boy emerges....which iPhone did Newson design? He might respect Ives but he is helluva better designer.

You want to know the true definition of arrogance? When some random poster online thinks they know better than someone like Ive, who is not only highly regarded by fellow designers, but has literally seen hundreds of billions of dollars of products sold around the world that he was responsible for.

Let me know when you reach that level, and maybe your opinion will count.

So you are saying that Jony Ive designed iphone 5c cases, magic mouse 2, bumpy ipad pro smart case with keyboard, bumpy iphone battery case, macbook with one port, yuck colors iphone cases are best, highly regarded and sold in millions? Either you are new in Apple world(who doesn't know the design standard of real 'Apple' in Steve era) or it shows your taste level who is appreciating all these product nowadays! Of course I don't know more than them, they are genius in their work, but only if there was a man who knew how to use their skills. A men who knew what would look good or not. I have rights to comment on their design as a consumer because I was the one who felt for their nicely crafted designed products which I used to use for last 8 years as well as upgrading them every year. And now I am the same person who is seeing same products with bumpy ugly shapes and ugly yuck looking colors and ugly lines on them. On top them colorless software UI. And irony is, this guy is progressing every year in making ugly designs and nobody in the company to disapprove his designs. I wish Tim would have said once seeing iphone 6 design "Jonny, This s**ks"
