It's very simple for me: No flush camera - no deal.
To the top-post: iPhone 4 with iOS6. Beautiful Design. Both, hardware and software.

Let's face the facts: Apple needs an all new design(er) for their phones and get their priorities straight. No one needs slimmer devices. It's complete BS. Literally everyone agrees except Apple. The idea of killing I/O will cost them a lot of customers if they go ahead with it. Just look at the "MacBook". Seen lot of people "like" the device (inlcuding myself), but without a native USB-Port it's next to useless for business and crippled for private use. Adapters are not a solution to that. Same is going to happen on the iPhone if they go Lightning-only. Just connecting the phone to a generic sound-system using 3,5mm: no longer possible. It's gonna be like: "There's an adapter for that, and no, I don't have it with me :-/ "

i understand some chinese and the guy in the video is saying: “ steve jobs never would have approved this, steve jobs never would have approved this, steve jobs never would have approved this, steve jobs never would have approved this, steve jobs never would have approved this, steve jobs never would have approved this, steve jobs never would have approved this, steve jobs never would have approved this, steve jobs never would have approved this..."

Things change. Having come from a Windows Mobile phone, I was extremely frustrated with my iPhone 4 when I first got it since I couldn't save files on my phone. We still don't have access to the file system on the iPhone and we've all managed to work around that. Things are transitioning to Bluetooth for audio. Sure it'll cause some inconvenience in the interim, but eventually we'll all get used to it.

I will stick to my 2 year old iphone 6 and go another year. I dont see the point in upgrading. I'm still on ios8 anyway.

The new iphone in the fall is gonna have what? Better camera? Faster processor? Better battery? Big freakin deal. thats not worth paying $600 for, no thanks.

Secondly i never understood the fascination with having a case for your phone. Its not a damn ferrari its a freakin phone for cripe sakes. The cases make it more bulgy in your pocket and half em dont even protect it. To protect you gotta have and otter box which is even worse.

It's pretty simple really. Added durability and resale value.

And there's no difference between a phone and Ferrari. Both are material objects that serve a function at the end of the day.

If the phone gets better optics I'm fine with protruding camera. But why don't they align the antenna bands differently / they could have put it along the outline of the whole camera...now it just looks odd. A bit less odd than 6 & 6S. But still odd.

Wow, they left the ginormous 2012 bezels on there. I'm not surprised, but it is depressing to see it confirmed. I never thought I'd say this, but man what an ugly phone. I feel bad for the consumers spending 1k on what's really 6ss not 7.

Awful. Honestly by far the worst looking iPhone ever offered. By far. Will not purchase.

Would maybe cause a new antenna gate situation...

It really is. Material wise, it is already similar to holding a bar of soap. Now all these awful looking changes? It's SO bad. Like straight up awful. They weren't even trying this cycle.

I don't understand, I really don't! They've swapped a hard edge for a soft edge like on the rest of the device in an attempt to make it look more uniform, I understand that, what I don't understand is how they've managed to make it stick out like a sore thumb, I really hope this isn't the final model.

I suppose it doesn't matter much, unless I break my 6S I'm going to try and keep hold of it until 2017.

I see MR is still the place for haters... Apple is all about iterative improvement. the iPhone is maturing and we don't need a brand new case design just to show off to people..it's a tool, like any other. every year my TV set, DVD player, receiver, even car doesn't get big changes and look about the same. but their features get better, just like this will.

grow up and stop being superficial children. wah wah...

They better have the most beautiful object ever created lined up for next year as this thing is truly ugly. Steve Jobs would have thrown it into his fish tank and told Jony Ive to get a pair of glasses.

Oh please. Steve Jobs approved shiny rounded aluminum backs that scratched if you breathed on them. Steve Jobs made his comeback on the ghastly transluscent iMacs. Stop invoking his name every time Apple does something you don't like.

it looks worse because nobody at apple says "NO!" anymore to **** like that. but they're "collaborating", now...

Careful. You are liable to get hate mail from TC sycophants who will insidiously tell you "Steve Jobs is dead." Of course that is true, but also the spirit that gave us the Apple comprised of the "crazy ones" that thought "different" to give us the amazing products other companies scurried to copy. Truly, I don't see how any rabid fanboy can say that phone with that bump looks chicer than a Galaxy S7.

Truth is this "preview" of the iPhone 7 looks worse because that bump is hideous. If its "real" then I really don't see how any rational person can't bow their head and play Taps for Apple design. Clearly, as you say, they aren't even trying to go the extra mile anymore the way Jobs would have pushed like an S.O.B. drill sergeant.

I kinda like it.. the antenna lines look better and the camera is finally aligned properly with the corner.

Also.. I don't get the complaints about the protruding camera, people want Apple to stay competitive with others, but you just can't get the same results with much smaller and thinner camera.

Most people's initial reactions to change is negative because people are naturally change-averse.

All you have to do is go back and read MR comments about every design Apple ever released to see that.

If the camera bump design were reversed, these same people would complain about why it's using a separate piece of metal around the lens instead of smoothly integrating it into the frame of the body.

It's not only the bump, it's just the completely uninspired design. The antenna lines aren't really an improvement, all they really needed to do was color match them with the body, they still need to color match them with the body. But the main thing for me is the screen to phone ratio, I just cannot believe that a company like Apple would release something with a screen to phone ratio that bad. Functionally it could be so much better if the bezels were made to be smaller, that's what I love about my Note 5.

This is just my personal opinion. Honestly I can't stand the morons who label others "haters" when they are simply stating their opinions. Some may love the new iPhone, and I have no doubt it will sell like hotcakes. But that consumer stranglehold is loosening quite rapidly and uninspired design isn't helping.
