Having portable internet and Safari's touch functions is what makes me most excited about the iPhone.:D

Whether or not that excites me really depends on if it has Flash.

Flash on iPhone would be awesome. Access to flash sites, flash videos, and flash GAMES (picture gaming on multitouch)...

wait, im confused, so are we thinking that the iPhone will have video playback or it wont?

Yes, it can play back videos synced from iTunes just fine.

The 'argument' is over wether or not it will have Flash, and so, be able to play Flash-based videos embedded in web pages.

You probably already knew this but Apple has posted the new ad now at the iPhone Ads page.
It's now on Apple.com named "Watered Down"

Wow! Four posts in a row! Do you think this ad is on Apple's website yet? :D

But meanwhile....

the ads are really nice.
Old school Apple....much nicer than the admittedly cute but still rather insulting I'm a Mac ads.

Oh.....and I do want a phone :) :) :)

I agree......then maybe we can get back to some computer related stuff.
What with the underwhelming MBP upgrade, the delay in Leopard, no new iMac and the possible death of the Mini...oh and no new displays or '07 Apple software.... I am becoming increasingly irritated by all this phone stuff.
And before I get nailed too much, I am an Apple shareholder and as such pleased about the added revenue the phone will bring.
I'm just alarmed about the shift in resources that has occured due to the phone with the possible damage to Apple's core business. That's if you believe that Apple is still a computer company:rolleyes:
Flame on!!!!!

You're serious? Underwhelming? A modern Geforce 8-series card, Santa Rosa, LED-backlighting which no other laptops have, 2 GB of RAM stock, faster processors, same price? Are you insane?

Are they changing something? I remember specifically that it said "requires 2 year service agreement" but when I look at them again, that doesn't show up.

Um sorry, but you're ridiculous

Underwhelming???? Man, what do you want?
The Leopard delay isn't that bad, it is only 4 months. The displays as they are are perfect, let me now if you see something better.

And Apple isn't forgetting about the Mac .Just one year and a half ago Apple made the transition to Intel and put into market the MB, one of the best consumer portables out there.
It is just that Apple is not ONLY a computer company, it has the iPod, which is the reason the Mac has have better sells. The iPhone is a good move from Apple to increase their market share and make the Mac even more popular.

You aren't forced to buy iLife 07. Now with a bigger Mac community you can start expecting longer time between updates, which is totally understandable.

What are you asking for? I don't understand, do you want Apple to send an e-mail saying: "Please don't buy in the next few weeks, because in the next
month we are going to update the PowerBook, so please, don't buy right now". Apple is a business that is seeking to gain money, and they are good at it.

Again, don't you think the new MBP is enough? The MB was also updated recently. Don't expect that Apple is going to release updates every two months, they need time.
Steve made a demo of the iPhone to create marketing and interest in it. All the people talked for a few weeks about the iPhone saying how great it is. It has already gained the place of "awesome phone" in the minds of all the people.

And the iPhone is just a best business move than Leopard. Apple is trying to make money, not to make the "few-MacRumor's-never-satisfied-society" happy. Most of the Mac owners couldn't care less about Leopard being delayed 4 months.

Let's hope.:)

Um....I like Apple, but they haven't risen the bar to what I would like. The iPhone yes, it is all the way up there, it is amazing, I understand the 6 month delay because of FCC approval so don't come down on me for that.

But macs and software...
The Macs this year: an updated macbook pro, an updated macbook, and an updated mac pro. The macbooks are the least of my worries b/c their form factor was just renewed last year, but if the last 30 years were just the beginning and 2007 is the start of this whole new apple world, then why are they continuing to update products that havent really in their entirety physically changed for the last 4 years!?! The all titanium macbook pro hasnt hasnt been changed for the last 3.5 years and the same time for the all alumnium mac pro.

time for apple to update. they really need to introduce a whole new imac or any mac at WWDC.

time for the mac and their software to enter 2007 finally

The closer we get to the iPhone's release, the more I fear that it's going to bomb because it won't live up to the expectations.

We'll see.

Actually I have talked to a Apple Rep who said, the moment you play with one you will want one. Seeing it in commercials does not do it justice.

This thing will be so hot, people will want it from now until Christmas.

In Other News

Looks like this could be a possible new look for a drop down list in Safari

I'm kind of scared to go to the Apple store and play with one. I don't think I have enough self-control to stop myself from buying it...

I agree oldwatery, I really like how the iPhone commercials draw on the style of previous Apple commercials. :)

They acutally do have the new ad focusing on Safari on their website. I soooo want one of those phones, but my contract w/ Verizon isnt up till next year this time, and, I'd have to swhich to At&T which has nooo service here in the boondocks where I live.

So the thing is....
These are really good ads....the best in years....and the pre hype has been, shall we say, unprecedented.

Are Apple gonna be able to make enough ?

Are they changing something? I remember specifically that it said "requires 2 year service agreement" but when I look at them again, that doesn't show up.

They've updated the "Never Been an iPod" and "Calamari" ads on the Apple website, and they've removed that text from the ads. For some reason they've left the text in the "How To" ad. I'm sure they'll remove it soon.

I wonder why they've decided to remove it. Maybe Apple is still negotiating with AT&T about it...

Believe me, I completely understand what you mean. What I say is that Apple is a company that wants to increase their income, and the iPhone seems to be the best move at the moment. Most people love the MBP design, most people love Tiger and don't care to wait 4 months for Leopard to be released, and they also love the Mac Pro and iMac design.

So if the vast majority of Mac owners is satisfied with the current products, and you have one new product coming that can make you win millions, why rush the redesign of an already top-selling product?

I like the ads, and I can understand that the NYT makes a good visual example, but couldn't they have found a day with happy news to keep showing over and over again? They paper they're showing is from last October, surely there's been a good day since then...

Please don't reply to this. I don't want to know that there hasn't been...
