Was good to hear I wasn't the only one experiencing this INFURIATING problem. I tried the steps suggested, but ultimately found a different solution to the issue.

After much experimenting and trying a vast range of things I found THE PROBLEM WAS ASSOCIATED WITH SELECTED IMAGES IN MY PHOTOS ICLOUD LIBRARY.

I had been sent a few photos in a text from a friend and for some reason it connected to his apple id. Another friend put a cool pic on Facebook and I saved it into my icloud, and again, it was somehow connected to the apple id of the woman who took the photo and sent it to him to post. I also copied some photos off another persons phone, and for some reason it was linked to the apple ID of the person who had sent her the image originally. I had to go through my photos and weed out all of the possible problem pics. I am glad to say the problem has now stopped. So if none of the suggested solutions in the article work, try going through your photos to weed out possibly infected ones. Those most likely are photos shared with you from someone else, or photos copied off the internet/social media.

I bought it from an online phone shop. However, the phone was in a sealed package and looks and feels authentic, brand new, with all plastic wrappers in place and no signs of any kind of opening/usage. It seems very legit to me.

Well, if your iPhone thinks it is connected to in iCloud account that isn't yours, then no matter how authentic, brand new, with all plastic wrappers in place the packaging looks, the phone wasn't brand new.

I had a similar issue, and the "genius" at the nearest Apple Store fixed it.

No, that's not necessarily the case. People reading this might start to think that their phones are counterfeit or not brand new when that's absolutely not the case. The issue was solved above many posts ago. The cause was a pirated MP3 that I had in my library. The original MP3 must have been purchased from an iTunes account and carried the sign in credentials of whoever bought it. It has nothing to do with the phone itself.

Stop the restoring process. Basically, your phone is still trying to restore all the data from your old phone. It needs the email password to finish it. If you cancel it, it will stop asking for the email password

Settings-> backup-> stop restoring
The problem can be image files in your icloud photo library that have been sent to you by others (friends), or copied off some facebook/other web sources.

I solved the problem identifying pictures in my iphoto icloud library that were sent by the friends whose apple ids were always being asked for. The other apple id names I did not know, were from pictures I had saved from the internet. Once I got rid of those photos from the icloud library, the messages stopped. FIXED!

Generally it's something like an app or some media that is associated with a different Apple ID.
Yes, correct. The problem can be image files in your icloud photo library that have been sent to you by others (friends), or copied off some facebook/other web sources. For some reason the apple id 'sticks' to the image.

over the years while reformatting all 20,000 songs in my iTunes library, I've been able to figure out which songs were encoded with the originating Apple ID belonging to someone else (I torrented alot). I either found a way to wipe that encoded info off the music or re-downloaded fresh versions without it. since then, ive never had the issue either.

Hi folks - I purchased an iPhone 12 Pro and have the same issue when trying to restore my last backup.

The message I get is 'This iCloud backup includes purchases from the iTunes store that were made with a different Apple ID. Enter the Apple ID password for xxxxxxx to restore these purchases.' From what I've read here, I highly suspect it's due to music acquired through questionable sources.

Unfortunately I traded in my last iPhone, assuming I'd be able to just back up from Cloud. Also it only let me 'skip' 62 random emails before going back to the 'Welcome' screen and forcing me back into the same cycle.

I've been on the phone to various Apple reps for about 4 hours trying all sorts of troubleshooting and it's now been escalated to an engineer and I'll only get an update in 2 days.

Is there anything else I can try to get my back-up working? Thanks so much!

Thank you! Unfortunately Apple’s engineers took 5 days to respond with ‘just keep skipping them’ which is what I told them I did at the start 😡 My case manager is escalating.
Do you have a Mac that you can connect your phone to? If you do, go to Finder and view the music you have on the phone. In the view menu you can add a column that will show you which Apple ID was used to purchase each song...click the top of that column to sort by Apple ids. If that weird email address is in there, it should be sorted at the top or bottom or something

Thank you for the reply! I do have a Mac, though there isn't any music on this iPhone because it's brand new and my previous iPhone's been traded in so I no longer have access to the music library on that phone. Also, there's 62 (probably more) email addresses.

My ex girlfriend’s email popped up during my last phone switch. Which was weird because it never came up before during the last 11 years ha

hey I'm running into the same issue setting up my new iPhone. Any tips on reformatting my music efficiently (any apps or advice is appreciated!!)

I had this happened on an app, but it was my son's ID that downloaded the app. I just deleted the app and redownloaded with my Id.
