One thing I did notice that I found to be an immediate disappointment with the current SE - the screen size is actually smaller than that of my current iPhone 6s. That will have to change before I get this upcoming SE. Hopefully smaller bezels will do the trick.

Nah, their screens are totally identical in size:

Just like Porsche is finally enabling their 718 Cayman GT4 RS to compete head-on with their higher-end 911 offerings, I'd love to see an SE Plus that could compete head-on with Apple's OLED offerings !

And, it "may" be the ONLY way that Apple expands the number of iOS Users !

The 6s & 6s Plus iPhones were the last ones that triggered a surge of new iOS Users !

Those two were Released in 2015 !

The 7+ was Apple's first-ever High-Performance iPhone.

Right now, if you make the memory equal, it is only a $200 more with Mini. Most people who are going for a mid-range phone are more likely going to make monthly payments anyway.
Isn't it $250? $449 vs $699? $250 is almost 56% more, which is huge.

OK, but what about the battery?
The current SE already has the worst battery life in the entire lineup, definitely the worst battery life since at least the X, and given that the whole point of the SE is reusing older parts to make a new phone, I highly doubt they would create an entire new battery for a newer SE.
But, using an iPhone 12 mini right now, I can easily say that 5G absolutely ruins the battery, and would be even worse with an SE.
Personally, I would expect them to eventually, maybe in 2023? Introduced an iPhone SE that just re-uses all of the components from the XR.

Hopefully, the prices of the SE iPhone will drop. It’s still too expensive. Also, get rid of 64GB, please. It should start from 128GB
$399 is about as low as I would expect an iPhone to ever get.
And given that you can get it refurbished for about $100 off, or from a carrier for also about $100-$150 off, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the pricing.
Keep in mind that the majority of people, especially the ones that this phone is targeted towards, never buy phones out right, it’s always on some form of monthly installment plans.
It’s a lot easier to tell someone to pay 10–15 dollars a month for a brand new iPhone SE then it is to tell them to pay $35+ for one of the newer ones.
Also, for the majority of customers, 64 GB is fine, but if they can bump that to 128 GB and keep the same price, I would be all good with that.
But I doubt they will, because it would look a little odd for a $399 iPhone SE to have 128 GB, but the $499 11 and the $599 12 mini to only have 64.

Apple is going to suck as much $$ as they can from unsuspecting consumers using that design for as long as they can. Maybe 2035 it will finally die lol.
Unsuspecting consumers?
In stores, the SE is literally put right next to all of the other iPhones, customers know what they’re getting. Just look at the phones, one has A huge forehead and a huge chin with a big button on it, and the rest of them don’t. It’s also cheaper.
The bigger problem I think is them still selling the almost 10 year old designed, extremely slow and outdated iPod touch.

No chance of a price drop from $399. Doubt there will be a storage increase either. Look at how it would compare to iPhone 12. We will be lucky if it stays $399.

Well gosh darn - I was wrong! I remember putting my iPhone 6s beside the SE in an Apple Store and thinking the display was smaller. Hmm - maybe the body was bigger or there was something else that gave that illusion. Oh I think I remember - I was disappointed that the bezel sizes were still the same vintage after all those years since the iPhone 6s was released. I would have thought a much bigger screen size could be had for the same exterior dimensions.

Why?? Can't Apple just keep the Mini in the upcoming generations and just dumb it down to meet their bottom line? With the Mini, you have a bigger screen, smaller chassis, and lighter weight vs. the 2nd gen. SE.

Right now, if you make the memory equal, it is only a $200 more with Mini. Most people who are going for a mid-range phone are more likely going to make monthly payments anyway.

Tightening the margin to $100 difference = $4.16 more per month, Courage Apple, courage...
The point of the Mini is not to be a budget phone. It's supposed to be a flagship in the smallest form factor possible.

If they decide to make the mini the next SE, there's no way it would cost as little as $400, having all the latest tech.

It's just a bad idea overall.

That was probably the 1st gen SE you compared it to.

Maybe thinking about the mini? The 12 and 13 mini while having a larger overall screen IS narrower than the 6/6s/7/8/2020 SE by a tad.

It is appearing I am not in Apple’s future plans. Ear openings too small for both AP Pro/AP3 and Mini probably getting discontinued.

Why is it a bummer if you aren't buying your kid a new phone for a couple years? See what's available then ?‍♂️
iPhone SE isn't updated every year. 4 years separate the first 2 generations of SEs. The 4th generation SE probably isn't due until the spring of 2024 at the earliest.

This is good news. I went from 12 Pro to SE 2020 and I think it is the perfect iPhone. No notch + simple easy unlocking.
