People will do better waiting on the iPhone 6 in 2014.
Google, Android, Samsung & others reading this are celebrating. Nothing wrong with what's rumored except what's not being talked about.

Why not really make headlines featuring a 3.25" display. Great for longer battery life, less chance of breakage.

Cheaper screen protectors & more compact size for skinny jeans.

Fashionable, fast, light, more profit for Apple. Everyone wins.

Android goes larger while Apple impresses the tight jeans crowd.

Coming in iPhone 8.

4.5" Display coming in iPhone 9.

A bit early, but maybe the customers will be ready by then. :D

And android has been the same for 4 years. What's your point? You want widgets and themes? :/

What's the galaxy going to give you that you don't have now? GarageBand? iTunes U? iPhoto? iMovie? Photostream? Backup and restore? Please I want to know what the galaxy has besides a large screen with neon greens and blue whites, heavy, un-pocketable, plastic phone.

I hope there's a way to get the $350 iPhone without a data plan. That would be a very nice upgrade to my iPod touch/dumbphone combo. Right now I don't think the carriers let you bring an unlocked smartphone onto a voice only plan. Really don't like that restriction.

I don't like the 5's form factor. I have one, but I just use it for testing during app development. My personal phone is still the 4s. There's this thing in design which the ancient Greeks discovered called the Golden Ratio -- a ratio of dimensions which humans naturally find more pleasing. The iPhone 5 is further away from that width/height ratio than the previous iPhones.

If the 5s is the same form factor, I'll buy one for testing purposes, but the 4s will still be my daily phone. I really hope this report is wrong.

If those prices and specs are basically right, the bulk of iPhone purchases will immediately slide down to the $350 model.

I am with you, I have the black 5 and I love how thin and light it is, love the speed and screen. Yet it is not beautiful or magical looking.
When I see the 4s white model It truly is a work of art. I have yet to see a phone that good looking. Thats probably why apple still sells so many 4 and 4s even though it is now outdated technology. I am pretty sure if they updated the 4s with a faster processor and LTE and yet kept the screen and form factor the same they would sell a boatload.

What's the big deal about a phone with a larger display? Is Apple just copying what everyone else is doing going to help the stock?

Something has to. Maybe the answer is an iPhone with a larger display, maybe not. Maybe Apple's explosive phase is now over and just like with the real estate market in some parts of the US (and elsewhere), people will continue to lament over "what once was" for the next few years.

I don't really see the point in comparing something you like (iOS) to stuff that you see as inferior (Android). It's not about Apple "catching up" with their competitors or imitating what they do; it's about Apple delivering the best product at the right time.

What's your point? You want widgets and themes? :/
There's a lot more things that a mobile OS could be doing other than meaningless widgets and themes.
iOS's UI was created 6 years ago for a screen that's 20% the resolution of today's screen and a device that had significantly less processing power (ARM 11@412 MHz, 128MB RAM) than Apple's latest (ARMv7 dual-core CPU@1.3 GHz, triple core GPU, 1GB RAM).
Is it so unreasonable to wish for a better app switcher or a better notification system?

What about a UI that really makes use of the Retina resolution and the graphic power of the latest iPhone? Is there really no better way to turn off Wi-Fi or Bluetooth than to hunt for it in menus? Can't Apple design a real multitasking system that doesn't drain your battery and doesn't fill your RAM?

i don't like these "cheaper iPhone" rumors at all...it's so not Apple and didn't Tim Cook and the Marketing guy such rumors months ago?

releasing a shiny magical iPhone mini is what i expect and hope from Apple not a crappy cheaper plastic iPhone with 6 colors! Apple is not Nokia!

I love my 4S, but I do want to upgrade over the summer. It will probably be a 5S, but I already know that I won't be as enthusiastic about getting it as I was in December 2011 when I purchased my first iPhone, the 4S, which was a significant upgrade from my 3rd gen iPod Touch. Well, at least I can be enthusiastic about getting my first iPad, either a retina iPad mini or an iPad 5.

Fingerprint Sensor

Don't knock it. Realize that with a sensor, you won't have to login to websites anymore as the fingerprint acts as a certificate, so any secured website will accept your fingerprint in lieu of a password. Unlocking your phone (and if you don't lock it you're at risk) is a pain. If putting my thumb on it will unlock it and touching the screen will log me into everything, that would be great.

I use $39 fingerprint sensors on my PC and Mac and haven't entered a password in a long time...

As far as the other stuff, it's not worth an upgrade if you have a 5. iOS 7 will be available for the 5, and hopefully the new VP of Software Development wll realize that we could take better advantage of the screen real estate than we do now with the square icons. I hate to say it but the Windows phone home screen is totally customizable as to the size and shape of its tiles and it delivers weather, movies, time, email, notes and pictures all on the home screen. If "Windows" phones start to look attractive...Houston...But Microsoft got a clue as to the usability of a home screen. A glance at the phone should tell you a lot without the need to dig into apps for that.

They could just change one tiny thing on it and call it the iPhone 5S and people will still be lining up for it and going crazy so why even invest money into making many changes? Whenever you add cost to the product you reduce profit margin so Apple would be smart to limit changes in the name of profitability. It will still sell like hot cakes no matter what they do!

Again people, we are the minority.

Look around at who actually uses an iPhone the most. The people who aren't power or tech users. It just so happens that Apple does have power/tech users. Though Apples main target audience are the people who just want to surf Facebook, play some games, listen to music, and do a little web browsing.

You want Apple to "revolutionize" iOS? Did you know most users don't even know how to bring up the app switcher? Did you know most users don't even know their is a notification center!? I used to work at Verizon. I can't tell you how many times a day people came in needing to know MORE about their phone (be it Android or iPhone). Most users of cell phones DO NOT even use the "important" features of these smart phones!! I had to explain all the time the features it seems are given to us yet most people didn't even know the phone had them!!

Also Apple has NEVER been about having to read an instruction manual to use their devices. They always seem to follow what Steve Jobs noticed about Atari when he worked there

1: Put quarter in
2: Kill stuff

That's just how it is going to be on iOS. Marketed towards the average user, like my grandmother, mom, dad, step-dad, brother, sister, and I can keep going more and more!!!

If you want to call that an upgrade go ahead, I have the 5 and not much different. They need to stop with the S model phones, they are not the only good game in town anymore, time to produce a solid phone every year Apple.

Most folks don't upgrade every year, in fact the majority likely doesn't. So a 'solid phone' every two years is likely going to be the way for awhile

Am I the only one here who thinks a fingerprint sensor is actually an awesome addition to the next iPhone? Seriously, it will make unlocking your secured iPhone much faster and easier.

Don't be so sure that's why they might include it.

They could be using the tech to recognize the position of your fingers on the bezel area to avoid false hits from holding your device, allowing them to reduce the 'black' space.

The same 8MP Camera???? Are you sh*tting me?

The S3 on average already takes better pictures than the 5 and this is their update coming in June/July. You just have to shake your head. :(

So much for the draw of it taking better than average pictures. By June/July let alone Christmas the 5S will be soundly beaten by the competition.

They're just not trying anymore..

Umm... The specs suggest a different 8MP Camera... f2.4 and f2.0 aren't the same.

The Iphone 5S will have a better sensor it looks like, to take better pictures in the dark and reduce motion blur. I'm actually quick excited about the camera in the new 5S. If you know anything about photography, high megapixel does not mean better pictures. It has a lot to due with the lens and sensor. The 5S has a better sensor and better flash, which gives it an advantage over megapixel count. There no point in having more megapixel when everything is grainy or blurry.

If people want a bigger screen, Apple should just take the ipad mini and add phone capability to it. They can have the biggest phone on the market. Yay...

The iPhone 5S sounds like a good buy, if that A7 is a quad core, and they add 2GB of RAM in there. But, let me guess... we'll only get 1 GB of RAM, so the phone can become obsolete faster. The Apple game is so easy to predict these days.

I shouldn't have to. Apple should innovate and allow it natively, then they cn lie their asses off and say it's revolutionary. Duh

The vast majority of buyers are fine with iOS the way it is. That's who Apple is going to focus on. Not the tiny by comparison group that want to tweak things to death

What would really help the stock value is for all these analysts to shut up

Followed by the blogs that post every little rumor as if they are fact, getting folks hopes up over stuff that ends up not happening
