In all seriousness though, I'm sure there will be an iVibrator. Maybe I can make a quick buck that way![]()
I'm unsure if the thing pointed is actually the vibration motor (are they usually directly attached to the circuit board like that? I would think they are mounted to the case somehow).
I'm always amazed at how these things get smaller and thinner yet they contain more and more hardware
Also, a motor of this size is amazing.
I'm glad the iPod Touch is getting a vibrating motor, it is really becoming an iPhone without the phone. And the GPS. But everything else is there.
Way cheaperSo, what are the differences now between an iPhone and an iPod Touch?
what am I missing please?
- No 3G radio;
- Worse camera;
- No GPS;

4. No LED flash
5. No noise-cancelling microphone (at the top)
6. No SIM slot/card
7. No glass back (stainless steel instead)
I'm sure there are few others, but those are the most obvious to me (besides the ones you already mentioned).

Oh my god, slowly but surely the iPod touch is morphing into an iPhone!

Good point, in fact "MacRumors" may have jumped the gun here as, if you read the whole thread (which currently ends here: http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=309080&page=25 ) you will see that despite the quote on Apple's own spec page the inclusion of vibration is far from certain. Many contributors on that forum agree that the object indicated in the picture is unlikely to be a vibration motor because of its appearance and placement and is more likely to be some other, unidentified component. Furthermore, when posters have asked Apple's own "experts" about the issue, they have received a mixed response with some confirming and others emphatically denying that the new iPT4 has vibration at all. The quote on Apple's own spec page has been largely dismissed as a copy/paste error from the corresponding page for the iPhone 4.
This is not to say that there definitely isn't vibration on the new iPod; only that its existence has yet to be confirmed...even by a consensus of Apple employees themselves.
