OK, Australia's store is not up just yet. Or any of the countries mentioned on the home page. Using iTunes 4.6, in Australia you can still browse the store, but not purchase full music yet.

Mkay.. someone put Iceland on that list... I wonder why 🙂

They have like... less than 300,000 inhabitants. Seem a strange route for Apple ( very unusual actually, since Apple havn't bothered all that much about that little island in the north.. )

Yes. Now I can have three accounts. One US, one German and one Icelandic! Thanks Apple, I now you did that just for me! Now I want Amazon and eBay.

And just for the record: With everything being so expensive here, Apple can probably make a lot of money.

Belgian situation

In Belgium, we have the same situation

The Itunes music store is not available in your country yet. You will be able to browse music and listen to previews, but you won't be able to purchase music.

They might just as well have included a 😉 after that 'yet'; by now, at apple they know that the world knows what's coming. It's probably just a tease to keep us waiting.

huh?

I dont really understand whats new here. 😕
I live in the Netherlands and that message that everyone is talking about is not new. Im quite certain of that. Its always been there. And ive always been able to browse the catalog and listen to the previews.

Besides, look at the list of countries that have reported getting the message in question.
Why would Apple invest resources in getting iTMS to a country with as few inhabitants as Iceland.

I know Apple already announces they would expand iTMS in october, but i dont think this is-not-available-in-your-country-yet-message is any indicator of which countries theyre aiming at.

Yeah, 8pm EST and nothing going...

i wonder if apple will do they same deal again with the countdown to 200 mill ? ipods and itunes vouchers , they must only be about 4-5 weeks away from it by now and with all the new iTunes Stores that will be open a prime time to do this.

Maybe they'll group countries together:
itms northern europe (norway/finland/switzerland/sweden/netherlands)
itms germany (germany/add austria&belgium&poland)
itms canada
itms mexico
itms italy
itms spain

my wish: black 60GB U2 iPod

switzerland is in central europe... maybe you'd just want to know.

The U2 iPod event isnt till 1pm L.A. time which is 6am Sydney time (wed), so dont expect anything tonight guys for either the new black iPod or the itms.

By the time we all wake up in Australia it will either be feast or famine, lets hope its feast cause Im getting sick of all this waiting. Its time Apple put Australia on the map. There have been other legal music download sites here for a while now, but I have no doubt once the ITMS comes along, it will just blitz everyone in their tracks and all those loosers with those crappy cheaper (well not really cheap compared to the mini price)MP3 players out there that are WMA format will be kicking themselves 🙂.

Bring on ITMS Australia and let the iPods rule.

Welcome newcomers to the joy of iTMS! Unless you want Metallica or Evanescence, then you're not so joyful. 🙁

You need to create a parallel post, something like this...

Welcome veterans to the joy of P2P! Especially if you want Metallica or Evanescence, then you're gonna be joyful... 😛

Not much decent local Australian content yet - Jet, The Vines etc being manufactured sell outs not counting.

One Powderfinger album, one (not great) Spiderbait album, NO You Am I or Regurgitator.

And no Guy Sebastian or Delta - but that's a good thing. They would sell a few downloads though, which would be good for Apple AU's bottom line.

At least they have a fair few Kylie albums - thanks to iTMS UK 😉

what happend to that beatles deal that was running around a while back was that ever sorted ? never know might be getting a beatles iPod as well lol

U R Right...

Exactly...

We have always had this message in NZ
Nothing new here....
Sorry to spoil your picnics everyone 😡

All,

The BBC website has an article about the iTunes rumors.

But what interested me most was this quote in the article:

"I like it because it lets me listen to Evanescence as I write this on the train."

When I remembered this:

It was the first time I have ever heard of Evanescence and now twice in one day. ASP272 are you Bill Thompson, good friends with Bill Thompson, Simon or is this just a wierd coincidence.

It's the fact that the iTMS was unavailable for us last night.... we weren't able to browse the music store, but iTunes was redirected to the flags of the 4 countries which are able.
Now the situation is the same as before....
This is making people wonder if there was something going on yesterday, added the rumor of an "end of October" release of the iTMS for the rest of Europe.

Aww man! You've never heard of them? They play it all of the time here in Norway. I like it because it's a kind of "hard music" that my wife can actually listen to. One of the many metal-bands with female vocalists that have come during the last years.

Not to be pessimistic about this...

But I really do suspect that it was some sort of glitch or error or even possibly an update to the server. Granted, if it was an update, then it would be possible that more countries are going to be added, but who knows?

Did anyone who already had access to the ITMS check their connection? I assume it was working while everyone was trying to see if their country was going to be added to the list...

Blame it on our wonderful world-class education system. Hell, most of our high school students could not even point out on a map where the United States was in a recent test.

Although it is not exactly the same, most Europeans would have trouble naming more than maybe a dozen U.S. states.

There is nothing wrong with ignorance, as long as you aware of it.
But Europeans would be able to point out the United States on a map, and would be less ignorant just by doing that, it seems 😕 😱

And if we were to start learning U.S. states we should at least start learning the Russian, Chinese and Indian regions, too. I don't think that would be the best use of educational resources.

The Isle of Man is west / north west of Scotland?? With some people speaking Gaelic?? Edit: I've now cheated and found out that it's an Island between, Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. It also has a government system established by the Vikings and it is the longest continous running parliament in the world. That's cool 😀

A couple of sites here in Sweden (that's northern europe 😉 have been selling music at SEK 15:00 (that's about USD 2:00) per song.
Yesterday both cdon.se and aftonbladet.se set their price to SEK 9.90 (a bit more than USD 1:00).
Coincidence?

Hah.. as will most americans 😛

Hmm... in the last election in the US Bush won even tho he lost. That means a ( admittedly very large ) ignorant minor part of the US population is a larger driving force than the larger part. Hmm... my head hurts 😱

I'd like to know that too!

I really hope it will come today!

I think the event starts 6pm CET, guess I'll be stuck in front of my computer. Will there be some kind of Stream at Apples pages?

So that makes it 12 PM here in the midwest...

Damn, i'll be off of lunch.
And I have to wait all the way 'til 6pm!! 😉 😀 😀

Seriously though I hope this is true. I've enjoyed iTMS since June and I hope it's going to be available for more people. I think we could see the stores open some time in the next couple of hours and then Steve Jobbs will go on about it at the music event. It'll be interesting to see what iPod rumours are true too..
