I like using Touch ID on my Mac. It's really fast!Touch ID is a miserable experience on the MacBook anyway, I wouldn't be in any hurry to add it to the desktop.

So what happens when you try to AutoFill something in Safari?I like using Touch ID on my Mac. It's really fast!
Personally, I don’t prefer the number pad, as it makes the keyboard way too long and cumbersome, and also make the placement of a wireless trackpad or mouse much further out to the side, making frequent switching between keyboard and mouse/trackpad awkward.I've wanted this for years. Love logging into sites with Touch ID. Where's my numpad though 🤣
There is a numpad version with Touch ID.Really? I'm a sucker for numpads too and kept my eyes out for a numpad version, but didn't see it.
I have no idea why they still don’t have Face ID for Macs. It’s insane that they don’t. Makes the user experience across devices much less smooth.I'm a bit behind in the announcements, so maybe they both have these features, but I'd have thought the iMac would have been perfect for FaceID. What I want is TouchID on the new iPad-- seems I'm the only one who uses it to take notes on my desk, and having to hover my face over it every time I want to unlock in the middle of a meeting is a bit distracting.
Is everything trending toward more radiused corners?
Why can’t the intel mini do Touch ID?Hopefully this brings Touch ID to the M1 Mini also;
I'd love to think it would bring it to my old intel machine but doubt it does as no secure enclave there.
Why? Works fine IMOMM2, worst mouse ever in my household.
To be fair, keyboards and mice have always been Apple's achilles heel.Worst decision Ive seen. Why Apple? Why can't you stick with something people like and are used to?
This would be a dumb decision since most people cover their cameras some/most of the time these dayshonestly was hoping to get Face ID on the iMac because that would have been perfect. maybe they're saving it for the higher end iMac?
hopefully these keyboards work with any Mac with secure enclave built-in.
Because most people don’t want cameras on and running 24/7 these days without being covered. That’s whyI have no idea why they still don’t have Face ID for Macs. It’s insane that they don’t. Makes the user experience across devices much less smooth.
It's consistent enough. I can log in using it every time except immediately after startup, and that alone is a big saving of time and effort. Same with my not having to unlock 1Password manually all the time. But it's not consistent. No ryme or reason why sometimes you can use touch ID and sometimes you have to type in password. Actually slows you down because of different pop ups asking for different input.
And if it's really that secure and reliable, then why can't touch ID be used after reboot or shutdown?
I’d hope it would bring it to an intel Mac with Secure Enclave. I meant my ones which are older than that (2012 and 2015). Would be amazing if it gave the 2015 a Secure Enclave but seriously doubt apple would do this. Why can’t the intel mini do Touch ID?
Logitech MX mouse is so much better.
ugh, no extended keyboard format!! and Touch ID?!?! why not add that as standard to Magic Trackpad. Come on !!
I haven't had any problems with Touch ID on my M1. What has been bad for you?Touch ID is a miserable experience on the MacBook anyway, I wouldn't be in any hurry to add it to the desktop.
Taking your hands off the keyboard to deliberately rest a finger on the Touch ID button is a terrible user experience. Why the hell would I do that when I can just keep them where they are and type in the password I'm asked for? I'm using a physical keyboard after all, it's much fast to just not move and type it in. This isn't an iOS device where Touch ID is a natural improvement to the workflow.I haven't had any problems with Touch ID on my M1. What has been bad for you?
Where do you order? This is great. I’ll be ordering one immediately.
Auto-Fill is an area that needs some work. I agree with you on that aspect.Taking your hands off the keyboard to deliberately rest a finger on the Touch ID button is a terrible user experience. But honestly it is Autofill that puts me over the edge. The way they have completely bungled that experience with Touch ID is what prompted me to disable it for good.
No number pad, no care.
Really? I'm a sucker for numpads too and kept my eyes out for a numpad version, but didn't see it.
Agreed. That model without the num pad squishes the keys closer together and I cannot type for #%#) on it.
