You know what really is a good news? There is no Touch Bar which means that new MacBooks would indeed most probably not have as well. Otherwise they wouldn't miss the chance to unify the experience.

So questions....

Do you think the Touch ID on the keyboard will only work with the mac or could it potentially work with the iPad?

Also is the trackpad the exact same trackpad 2 just in new colours, she said something about a new shape but it looks the same to me?

I'm sure these new iMacs are excellent machines and the screen is probably awesome....but:

- Not a fan of the design on the front side. The white bezel doesn't blend in well.
- Weird color options - not sure a lot of people would buy an orange iMac. Not 90ies cool IMO.
- Lacking a simple color option with space grey or silver without the white bezel.
- No Swivel or height adjustment of the monitor
- Too much chin - Would have preferred to increase the thickness and have no chin
- Where's the 27+ inch? - I'm sure it will come at some point. 30-32 inches would be perfect.

- I like the solution with ethernet built in to the power supply brick.
- Perfect with a power connector that snaps on with a magnet (bring back some of the old unique apple feats)
- Back side looks sleek and elegant. (...but then you turn it around)

the white bezel is very ok if you face a wall (i mean if there is a white wall behind your imac) otherwise, yes it will be "in your face"
the colours are clearly for schools, in house imac, so its the entry level, for teenagers also
the chin is a must and best decision they ever made...they learn a lot from the intel imacs and from the trashcan mac pro

What is wrong with a front charge port? The Logitech MX has one that allows you to keep using the mouse while charging.
It isn't needed.

Just need a warning to charge it when you are at 20% or so.

Ideally your iPhone should check it every night before you go to bed and if it's low, you get a notification. Then you'll never run out of charge during the day.

Of course you can just set a reminder on your phone to go off every x number of days reminding you to charge your mouse. Problem solved. Actually I am going to take my own advice. Wait I sold my Mini a few months ago and haven't got a new Mac yet. ...

And then as someone said, if they are going to do anything to the mouse charging hardware itself, it would be wirelessly charging.

Touch iD is a nice addition but nothing can beat the Logitech MX mouse and keyboard.
I have the MX keyboard but love the new addition TouchID in Apple Keyboards. I have my MBP on a stand above my computer. Very annoying to have to reach up and use TouchID. I can use the MBP in clamshell mode with Touch ID.

Also waiting to see if this Keyboard will work with Intel Macs.

Taking your hands off the keyboard to deliberately rest a finger on the Touch ID button is a terrible user experience. Why the hell would I do that when I can just keep them where they are and type in the password I'm asked for? I'm using a physical keyboard after all, it's much fast to just not move and type it in. This isn't an iOS device where Touch ID is a natural improvement to the workflow.

But honestly it is Autofill that puts me over the edge. The way they have completely bungled that experience with Touch ID is what prompted me to disable it for good.
I use a password manager. I don't have the slightest idea os to what any of my passwords are. They are auto populated. Touch ID makes this a lot easier.

Because most people don’t want cameras on and running 24/7 these days without being covered. That’s why
Really? It’s already on their iPhones and iPads. I suppose the use case is different because there’s no gyroscope in a Mac, but there could easily be a motion or proximity detector so the camera doesn’t activate until a key is pressed or a face comes within range.

Seems like Apple should be able to figure out an unobstrusive way to bring FaceID to Macs.

I don't think so at all. It was easier to just click the confirm icon than to move my finger from the home keys or mouse to touchid and back.

It was way more worthless on the Mac than I would have guessed ahead of time. And this from someone who was looking forward to finally having it on their new M1 MBA.

ONly to be bitterly disappointed. lol.

Do we know if the magic mouse has gotten the U-bluetooth chip or is it still using Bluetooth 3.0 from like 15 years ago. I love the magic mouse for the side and vertical scrolling but it cuts out multiple times a day which is very annoying. Hoping that the more recent bluetooth connection will improve this. (I've had problems on multiple magic mice across several computers and its always a problem)

I’ve had a couple Magic Mouse and haven’t had any issues...not sure if you just got unlucky

Anyone knows if this will be using the same "New" Scissors Keys on the MacBook? Or are they keeping the good old keys?

I'm annoyed with the lack of backlighting controls on my M1 Air every single day...

Having to go to the control center to switch it on/off is a horrible experience.

It's by far my biggest gripe with that computer.

Looks like gonna be the same story here
You can drag it to your menu bar you know?

Colour matched keyboard and mouse - excellent. Touch ID on keyboard is most welcome.

Exactly, and people LOVE it.
Says who? You?

I am user interface and user experience developer. I know for a fact that it is a terrible user experience. People do not love it. They use it because they spent money on it. Except those who just turn it off and use Apple Watch for authentication instead. If the Apple Watch option didn't exist, people would be clamoring for improvements.
