I just watched them, they're FUNNY!!! PC users just don't get it, because (like their commercial says) they are PCs!

What a sad life to lead... :D

The thing is, they don't. Their life isn't just about their computer. It worries me a bit how much emotional investment people have in companies like apple and nintendo.

They really need to make one of these Mac PC commercials situated in a shoe store, with a character "loosening-up" the shoe (bending it back and forth).

It now seems that every single thread will be hijacked by the whiners lamenting the lack of Firewire in the new Macbook.

Give it a break whiners - go buy a PC if you feel that strongly but I suspect most of you are just jumping on the bash Apple bandwagon because it makes you feel 'cool'

You are oblivious to the facts that most CONSUMER devices available today are USB2.0 compatible with no FireWire connectivity - you might not like it but you have to face reality.

Jeez.

Seems like Apple's fighting back against Microsoft's new Windows campaign. Two new ads calling out MS on trying to hype the Windows brand name. They're ok, seems sort of petty to rebut a rebuttal ad.

http://www.apple.com/getamac/ads/

Lame rebuttals by Apple. Despite being a Mac user, I do think the Microsoft ads were done well and are effective at conveying the message that PC users (who care's what specific Windows OS) are used by a broad range of persons for a wide variety of applications.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

Very nice ads. I like the Bean Counter the best.

Very clever ads and a very clever response to Redmond's recent campaign. Once the "I'm a PC and I have been stereotyped" ads began, there was a belief that they had one upped Apple's ad campaign in the sense that they had diffused the humor in the PC character, hence, Apple would have to abandon that campaign. At least it would have made it seem petty. But I have to handle it to Apple's ad agency, this was a very clever response and it has a lot of truth in it. Microsoft's campaign has had NOTHING to do with Vista, how "innovative" it is or how "well" it "works". Calling out big brother for spending a whole lot of money to made a bad product sound better was a good angle to take and these ads pull it off very well in my opinion.

Bingo. Further, Apple has not only neutered the msft ads, but has hijacked them as well. With Apple's new ads, whenever a viewer sees the msft ads, they'll think about the Apple ads, and think about how msft is trying to employ misdirection. Big, big bang for the buck [which probably explains why so many msft trolls/shills are crawling out of the woodwork knocking these ads. When you see those posts, just remember who is paying those guys to post that stuff].

The 'Bean Counter' one is MINT!

I saw both commercials on Sunday, and the Bean Counter one was magnificent! It was pure gold. In a way, the commercials by Microsoft and Apple mirror the two technologies. One is long, cumbersome, and confusing; the other is short, sweet, and very effective.

Wow, I think a lot of posts on here, in particular the very first page, are the reason why many people think OSX users and Apple Fanbois = arrogant and condescending. That said, these new commericials were amusing. Leave it to Apple to think up whitty and creative ads.

I suppose MS could reply with an ad showing that Vista doesn't need fixed, hence there's no need to put huge amounts of cash into it...

Do you have any IDEA how many Apple people and how many MORE PC people would laugh themselves silly over something like that? Suggesting that Vista doesn't need to be fixed to a universe that instinctively knows that it does?

These ads, although amusing just make apple suck more...

It's like Burger King having ads ragging on Mcdonalds because their burgers have more beef. It may well be true but the more you say it the less cool you become.

Microsoft is a victim of their own success. XP is so stable that few see a reason to change, especially to something that requires more resources.

As for the ads, they simply confuse people who aren't aware of the feuding. They're inside jokes.

Jeez.

And if someone has invested some £10 000 in gear and Apple software that is over a year old and dependent on Firewire, what are they suppose to do now???? How about you actually read what the complaints are about instead of whinning about seeing threads about it, they do have a legitimate reason for being angry. Apple fans are very loyal and stunts like this is a real slap in the face.

...I like to see adds about the firewire port on the macbook.
Perhaps that's what those ads with Gates and Seinfeld were all about. Getting rid of firewire means freeing up all that time you used to spend importing video clips from your CONSUMER (capitals courtesy of markm49uk) miniDV camcorder.

Now you can spend that time scoffing churros and buying fugly shoes.

Turd polishing...

It's got to be hard to have spent so much time and money in Vista and having it turn out to be such a piece of crap.

It's like Lehman Brothers or AIG: Too large to fail.

To spend millions of man-hours writing that, turd, and furiously trying to polish it... It's pathetic.

But look at Apple and Me.com and their earlier faltered steps with Leopard. Apple has by and large fixed most of the issues, and ticked off a large number of people in the process but they did win people back, or not lose them in the first place.

Microsoft will continue. Well, until the hidden backdoor in Vista is found.

The same as last month: Buy the white MacBook or the MacBook Pro...
Yes, the future of FW looks very bad, but the present hasn't really changed much.

I sympathize (as I mourn the matte display myself), but at least you're not out of options.
