Core 2 Duo + GeForce 320M = win.

A MUCH better combination than Core i3 and Intel graphics. Seriously.

Finally, HDMI. Hook up a blu-ray drive and I can be happy.

Just as I was about to take my iPhone 3G S back and get the iPhone 4 too. This is a hell of a lot more appealing.

looks really nice, but if I were to ramp up the specs to match my current mac mini it would cost $250 more (in australia at least)! The only difference would be the graphics card and 1 usb less as well. and i'm using mini displayport converted to HDMI so there's really no difference... but looks good that they've allowed access to the ram sticks...

but one improvement which i think is the best is the absence of the power supply brick! good to see that they're using a standard IEC C7/8 connector too.

From £649! 😱

That's bloody expensive.

I thought that considering I paid about £450 for my core 2 duo model, If it was £100 less Id probably buy it as I love the new look. Either needs 4GB RAM and 500GB standard or a price drop to make it worth it for me.

Great! Hopefully it is fanless or at least very quiet. Even better if it had two Firewire ports and Blu-ray drive.

Just imagine the marvel Apple could make building a headless Mac mini TOWER (fanless or at least very quiet). With 22-inch matte (not glossy!) Apple LED Cinema Display to match.

Looks nice, but £650!

I rather think Apple have forgotten what the Mac Mini was all about - a cheap Mac to hook new owners. My Parents in Law bought one a few weeks ago. £500 was pushing it, but £650 and they would have got another PC instead.

I can see the AppleTV/Mac Mini merge idea, but Apple really now need a new £400 Mac Micro.

I definitely agree. I was looking to buy a Mac Mini to act as HTPC (I just can't do without Plex), but 800€ in Europe ... that's just plain ridiculous.

That's too bad, but I'm going to get a 300€ Aspire Revo or something like that, and run a Linux-based XBMC instead 🙁

Don't care. Ordered. 😀 Will figure out the switching of the HD later. I'm sure we'll be able to get to it with a screwdriver.

Yea I'm very tempted in picking one up tomorrow at the local apple store. It looks too sleek and hdmi looks looks perfect for the hdtv.

Choose i3/i5 or NVIDIA GeForce 320M. You get one or the other just now.

yea but the 320m's not that great either. I guess mac's are never going to be the choice for gaming. I've tried on my new MBP 15 but I can spend the same sort of money and get a very high end gaming pc. Guess im stuck with a pc for gaming after all.

Nobody beats Apple in design. Johny Ive is a LEGEND!

Hope their hardware department could just wake up.

Built in PSU

Is anyone else actually concerned about the built in PSU? Wouldn't this open up the potential for Time Capsule related breakages?

I realise it has the aluminium unibody case, and the HDD(s) will be laptop sized, but it's still going to generate heat.

It seems they are moving slightly towards the industry norms, the HDMI is also a welcome move.

From £649! 😱

That's bloody expensive.

Same here in Germany. They raised ALL prices and new MacMini is 809 Euro!!! WTF. Not a option any more... For that money you get an much better spec'd Notebook...

To make it clear:
700 USD = 570 Euro

809 Euro = 990 USD

Looks great and I am glad thay finally put the HDMI on the mini.

However the UK price is absolutely ridiculous.

699USD in US (about 480GBP) and they are putting a price tag of 650GBP in UK 😱?! Who ever works out this UK price tag must be a total genius.....

The thing is, this may be expensive, but where are you going to get something of the same build quality that runs Mac OS?
You could get a crappy compact that runs Windows for maybe ~450/500 pounds.
But it won't look as good and it won't run OS X

Very beautiful, I'd buy one if I didn't already have a Mac mini that works wonderfully. Just thinking, getting inside this new Mac mini looks like it will be more of a pain than the old one.

And it'll have Blu-Ray support. 🙂
