Things run a lot smoother vs my MBP I had previously. I have the 2GB 128SSD version versus my MBP 13" 4GB 320HDD. SSD really makes all the difference for my needs.

Anyone also notice that the speaker are amazing? It is much louder than my MBP.

I ordered mine the second the announcement ended. Shipping from China (hopefully not on a slow boat) to Calgary.

Can't waiting it looks like next Friday the 29th. Going to kind of interfere with my Haloween fun....

:D

Really? Is it single channel speaker? my 2nd MBA 128SSD's speaker is crap....

Yes Steve said made a big point about the direction they are headed with SSDs.

It has been a very slow progression, but I think we are (or have) turned a corner.

So, DVD and HD go the way of the Dodo. :D

I picked up the macbook air 13" 1.86GHz 2GB ram from the Apple store at lakeside yesterday.

I need it as my second/backup laptop with my early 2008 MB Pro 17 2.6ghz being my primary machine.

I was a bit worried that it wouldn't be able to handle what I needed it to do, which is run a windows 7 ultimate parallels vm alongside a browser, coda and skype.

Long story short it handles it with ease, with no lag at all. Infact it runs it a lot better than my mb pro 17.

So first impression is I am loving the MB Air.

interesting that you got the 2GB version despite the fact that the lack of more RAM was, as far as I know, the biggest "issue" with the MBA for most people out there

niceguyeddie ,whats about battery duration?

I'd like to know too. Also heat.
Mine is coming in 3-4 days. Too bad all the reviews are for 11" only. Obviously more are buying 11s. I go for 13" because of bigger screen and longer battery life.

No worries. Weird how people don't want to believe you. 2 or 4 or whatever? Nicely played to withhold from them.
My origin scan was Nashville, then onto Chatanooga. I too called directly into the Apple but I waited a day or so to mull over the decision.

If you would have ordered quick, you would have got it on Friday , so far 4 people have gotten the 4g from Tenn. Not sure the extra makes a big difference or not have to play with a stock one to find out.

The guy is a troll,he is on my ignore list.

Unfortunately you cannot get the 4gb version from the store and I don't have time to wait for delivery from apple.com/uk

Luckily though, 2GB appears to be plenty for what I need.

I know if I was in AppleGoddess' shoes, I'd love to do nothing more than prove me wrong.

Oh well, hard to take a pic of something you don't have.

+1

I can't wrap my mind around the fact that someone would lie about having 4 Gb of RAM in their new computer on the internet just for attention. If she can take photos of her new computer, how hard would it be to simply click on "About this mac" and take another photo? Or she also could've taken a screen shot, something that wouldn't even require her to move.

But please, prove me wrong. :D :apple:

I'm still considering purchasing a Macbook Air, this refresh really impressed me this time around. If you asked me a few months ago about purchasing a computer that has an 11.6" screen, I would have laughed at you. But that 11 inch model is really appealing.;)

It not hard at all, but to ask 10 times when I told him I would be adding item that night would get anyone annoyed. If he would have waited they would have Been there he is rude and now a troll let him believe what he wants funny others have gotten 4 g from Tenn too.

I am not going to please him and post anything for him.
And who would lie about ram...really

I am experiencing nearly ZERO heat. I mean, even with the palm of the hand there is negligible heat to notice. Running handbrake AND a youtube video at 720p

I'm siding with the other guys. You're the only person with a 4GB MBA, you should be happy to prove everyone else wrong/show off that you're one of the first to get a 4GB MBA.

Ok I've been reading this thread for a while, and really....AppleGoddess you don't have 4GB of RAM. As you said it doesn't mean anything but please, I feel you're insulting our intelligence here!

I'm in the UK and ordered an Air CTO (not BTO as some have stated) 11.6 4GB 128 (1.6GHz) the evening it was announced, my est delivery date is 28th-29th October. I literally cannot wait for this thing to be delivered! I even sold my 15" MacBook pro as I have so much confidence in this product.

Wow! That's good news! Was it 13" or 11"? I just double check :D

I picked up an 11" MBA today. I got the cheapo $999 version. I'm loving the thing so far. I really wanted to get a MBA since the first one was announced. The price was just too crazy for me. So, I've been using 13" MBs for a number of years now.

I just do basic stuff with my MB. Web browsing from the couch, light video viewing and not much else. This MBA is perfect for my needs. It is so cool to see how fast the thing boots up after years of hard drive computers. It is also ridiculously silent.

Read the thread...others have it too not the only one, I will not respond to anymore ram questions at all, think what you like.

So what does this prove? :p

Ok ok.

But on the topic of RAM, in the Apple store (11" stock) I loaded several fairly graphic intensive tabs in safari, pages, numbers, keynote, quicktime player, mail...basically every app and a video in iTunes and the air still had a small amount of RAM to spare. The only way I could consistently reduce free ram was through iPhoto and numerous photo browsing.

Really quite impressive, and leaves me wondering over the significance of the solid state memories role in this regard and whether it really is necessary to wait and order the 4GB spec. Fantastic machine.
