Have gone for the Waterfield Outback Sleeve to sit inside my Rough Rider messenger bag - also from SFBags.com.

Perfect fit and very sturdy with good impact protection.. Beautifully handmade - should last a long time..

Very nice pics! I'm using the Zip Brief and the Bolt. I really like their distinctive line of products. My co-workers immediately gave me a "thumbs up" when they saw these two bags.

Personally not a fan of any of the SFBags stuff. Something old, rustic and unappealing to me.

I grabbed an incase neoprene vertical sleeve and am happy with the fit. Adds just enough protection from bouncing around in my backpacks laptop slot. No pouches, but I'm good with that. Really any 11" mba sleeve that's vertical will be very close fitting.

I think they look nice but I wouldn't want to put something so sexy in a big bag.

I mean would you rather see scarlett johanson in a thick cloak or a bikini?

... Ok bad example ScarJo looks great in anything. :)

I just got off of the phone with the owner of Byrd & Belle and she is going to make a custom sleeve for me that adds a few pockets for carrying the USB adapter and other things like a small notebook.
She mentioned that she will probably roll this out as an actual product for the 12" MacBook so I wanted to get some ideas from the community.
Any recommendations for pocket size and functionality you guys would like to see?
Here is their iPad carryall which I might steal a few designs from.

Hi Ryan

Liking the look of this. Did you order one in the end from Byrd and Belle? I see they have added a few designs to the site. but not in this style which is a shame.

I just ordered this in Black ballistic + Chocolate leather from SFBags. Not too heavy, it's 2" thick, but their stuff compresses nicely. The ballistic lines are a bit lighter than the waxed canvas.

I just ordered this in black on black - I'm a big fan of the briefcase form factor. Comparing the dimensions to the Incase 11" MBA Sling case I have now it is actually narrower and only minimally taller, slightly thicker. Couldn't find a weight spec on the Incase bag.

Planning on doing a short write-up here when I get all my kit! MB and adapters estimated on the 20th, bag should be here on Monday - pretty cool stuff!

Looks Nice. $65+ seems like a lot. The InCase Sling Sleeve 11" is 1/2 the price:

Loved this case for my 11" MBA, it was almost too efficient though. I usually put my iPad in with the MBA in the main pocket and it makes the outside pockets inaccessible if there is anything in them because the bag is so tight, so on the go those pockets are really usable. Once you take the MBA out, though, then you can get to your charger, wallet, keys, adapters, etc. so on the daily commute it was ok as long as you got to your desk without needing to go into the pockets :)

Any more photos of this beautiful case? How are you getting on with it?

I ordered the all black version of this but am still waiting for shipping. He said this week sometime. Would love to see some pictures from someone who has it already.

When did you order? I'm actually in the U.K. and I'm just wondering if I will have to wait forever for it to get here. I'm only just recovering from the weeks of waiting I had to endure for the MacBook itself. :D

Please post some photos and your impressions when it arrives.

I ordered it on April 21st with a ship date of April 29th. But its been delayed with a new ship date of May 13th. If he delays it again I'll cancel the order.

I ordered this case from Etsy over the weekend and it just shipped from Germany today. I wanted something a little different that would snugly fit my MacBook (due Friday, fingers crossed), could be tossed into my briefcase and various travel bags without adding too much heft or bulk and most importantly allow me to plug it in to charge at night without having to take it out.

I'll report back again when everything arrives but it looks solid!

Yes, delays are very frustrating.

So you've had a two week postponement. He must be a little overwhelmed with orders. I'd be grateful if you could post when he dispatches as I'd like to know if there are to be further delays.

I'm surprised that there aren't similar offerings on the market.

After reading that thread about the FM whose MB slipped out of his case I'm rethinking my choice now. Wonder if I should just get something that zips up. *sigh*

The trouble with zips is that they are metal and could cause scratches.

I got this today and it does the job pretty well. It's a good fit too.

^^^Thanks, I hadn't even considered that

Cute case, and it's a lot cheaper than the one I bought! Although I was thinking of returning it anyway as I fear it will be too big.

This is my new 30$ rMB case. It's snugged fit but not too tight. Slip protector inside for covering the zip side of your rMB.
To protect unintentional sliding off when you unzip.

Too bad it's ugly as Satan's Hell itself.

No offense. Not personal. Just in my humble opinion. To each his own. Enjoy!

I went with a Byrd&Belle dark-grey wool&leather slipcase. Came yesterday, and I'm loving it.

I made the mistake of ordering this from Amazon:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00UUPXLF6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00

it was awful and clearly not really designed for the new Macbook as there was a good one inch gap on side - poorly finished and smelt very badly so I returned it after about 10 minutes.

I then purchased a felt case from a guy on eBay which turned up from Poland and although a good fit on the sides was very thick and bulky and was about an inch too loose at the top but I cannot return - thankfully did not pay too much.

Still searching for a good case.

Of course these things are a matter of personal taste and, as you say, each to his own. My primary aim was to buy a form-fitting protective case for transportation within a larger bag. Aesthetically, in my opinion, it is plain, discreet and inoffensive, and it was reasonable value for money.

The case that I really like is the Picasso Lab leather sleeve. It featured earlier in this thread. The problem is that there seems to be a backlog (they're hand-made) and the import duty and customs charges for the UK make it rather expensive.

To me the Byrd & Belle looks overpriced for a felt case and is hardly the "belle of the the ball". Excuse the pun. :D:p;)

I bought this one. It's cheap and ugly but it will serve well to add a an extra layer of protection while being in my backpack. I had a fall on my bicycle at one time where I smashed into the pavement that made a ding in the corner of the laptop I had at that time. I bought it in the 13" size so the macbook would easily slide in and out of the case while the case would never leave the laptop pocket of the backpack. Another positive thing is that it has an extra pocket where you could fit an ipad.

On a side note. The incase sleeve looks really nice, hopefully they will release a version for the macbook in time.
