New Macbook Case Thread

For the past little while, I've been using this Roots bag for my iPad+Keyboard. It's preposterously well designed, and I totally love it for toting smaller loads. It's couched as a ladies' bag, but it works terrific, and I'd say once I removed the silly hanging leather bit, it's manly enough.

I was concerned it wouldn't fit the new MacBook, so the last time I was in the Apple Store, I asked the staff if I could try to get one in to see. They let me, and it fits *perfectly* which thrills me no end. The one concern is that it has an inner zipper and magnetic closure which would scratch the MacBook. I intend to simply get my wife to sew me a basic, form-fitting, thin felt sleeve for the MacBook and it should be all I ever wanted in a minimal laptop bag.

This Moshi sleeve looks solid. I have one of their origami-styled iPad covers and find it to be great, so hopefully this one continues the trend. No price/availability info yet though.

In stock now. Note that all of the other sizes are $10 cheaper. Moshi decided to charge $10 more for the smallest size Muse case. Kinda sucky.

Also look at the many videos of this case in the other sizes. You will see it is a scratch protection only case providing not drop protection at all. Thin.

Everyone keep posting pictures of these big thick padded cases for their MacBooks. I just want a neoprene sleeve but without the overly long length of the 11" Crumpler Fug.

I kind of like the Moshi sleeve too, though I'm not a huge fan of the contrasting flap. I have Moshi cases on both my iPhone and iPad -- they have nice designs, but the prices are a bit high.

That's a good question. It's an attractive case but if that zip is going to be rubbing directly against the MacBook...

Booq Sleeve

Each side of the case is lined with a soft fabric piping, which goes between the inside of the zipper and the MacBook. As the zipper brings the two sides together this fabric piping acts as a bumper to protect the MacBook from both the zipper as well as side shocks & bumps.

The Incase sleeve looks great but definitely appears to be an excess of room in it for the 11". A shame - would have grabbed it.

I actually tried on the Incase ICON sleeve (for the 11" MBA) in store a couple of weeks ago and it was a decent fit but a tad overpriced for a neoprene sleeve: https://www.goincase.com/shop/macbo...e-with-tensaerlite-for-mb-air-11/black-slate/

So, having just slogged through the last 16 pages of this post, I think I have made my decision.

I think I'm sold on the sleeve I want. I'll be going for a Joli Originals.

But I'm going to enquire about getting the grey outer with an orange inner. That's basically the dream combo for me.

I think I'll then be slipping that bad boy in a Moshi Venturo for out and about.

I've got to say I have also just trawled through all 16 pages and agreed with your choice on the Joli from everything posted. Grey and orange would be a great combo.

I love the purple / orange textured combo they offer for the 15" - that would totally rock a gold rMB!! If not maybe the textured black with red lining......

However am not sure I want to spend quite that much........so will keep looking!

I know ...... I have expensive taste sadly. Just trawled through etsy and only one I liked was a gold leather case at similar price from China and am not sure if quality would be as good.

Have you seen the Picasso Lab sleeve? Looks very similar, is handmade and is much more reasonably priced. I'd order one myself if I was in the USA and didn't have the shipping and customs cost, not to mention the delay.

EDIT: Just spotted that you're in the UK too so I take it back. With all the added cost of importing it would probably be as much or more.

Regarding Picaso Labs:

I too ordered a case back in April. When it did not come I contacted the owner and received a reply stating my case would ship around May 11th instead. Well that time came and went and I once again contacted him and he said that his supplier was still running late filling his leather supply. He then proceeded to send me a temporary case, one made for the 11" macbook, to have while I waited for the one I ordered.

Ordered a few minutes ago the 11+ iPad or MacBook Air Felt Case for my new MacBook. Hopefully I'll get it soon!

I asked 11+ if it's possible of the new MacBook fits in that case and this is what they said, luckily:

Yes I would be interested to see some photos. Am coming to the conclusion that am going to end up spending £50+ to get something nice I really like and a Joli one is on my shortlist.

I ordered a smooth grey one with red lining in the beginning of April. Last weekend I ordered a smooth dark brown with orange for my wife and asked them when they expect to ship it, they said it would most likely be here in the end of next week.

And sure! I'll make some pictures in the end of the afternoon.
