New Macbook Case Thread

I ordered a smooth grey one with red lining in the beginning of April. Last weekend I ordered a smooth dark brown with orange for my wife and asked them when they expect to ship it, they said it would most likely be here in the end of next week.

And sure! I'll make some pictures in the end of the afternoon.

I really look forward to checking out the pictures. I've considered ordering one but due to shipping delays they expected I've held off for now. I also was a bit sad I just couldn't pick one up in Amsterdam in person.

I now ordered something from Etsy that I 'designed' together in collaboration with the great owner of the store (Vera from Bholsa). I expect to see an update on it today and will share images when I get them. It'll be a felt sleeve that should also offer space for the dongles and cables I regularly need.

I finally got around to contacting Joli Originals about the possibility of a smooth grey/orange sleeve. I got a reply from a nice guy called Harold who explained that as there is only two of them running the show, they don't have time to create any 'custom' sleeves. Turns out that this was for the best as I had missed the Limited Collection which comes as a blue/red combo. I ended up ordering one for my rMB and one for my iPhone 6 Plus. It's safe to say that if my wife finds out, she'll have my nuts in a vice pronto!

Also, Harold then mentioned after I ordered (he wasn't trying to push a sale) that he uses the blue/red Limited for his Space Grey rMB and it looks great which is nice as I plumped for the Space Grey too.

I love the purple / orange textured combo they offer for the 15" - that would totally rock a gold rMB!! If not maybe the textured black with red lining......

However am not sure I want to spend quite that much........so will keep looking!

That's a shame however I wonder if they are following this thread as I see they have added the purple/yellow combo to the 12" choice I mentioned (I meant yellow not Orange). I think I am going to order that as probably the one I am most excited about.

I did tell them that a couple of people on this forum had expressed the same desire but it obviously made no difference. The purple/yellow is nice but just a bit too LA Lakers for me, ha ha!
 
Postman was a bit late, but I have it!

This thing fits perfectly, tot that I would expect less, my wife is going to be jealous :) I'll do the pictures when I get home.
 
And here are the pictures, the card is in Dutch and they remembered that it's not my first sleeve.

I doubted very long between the limited (blue) and the grey/red but in the end decided that the grey would look very nice with the Space Gray MacBook

I ordered the Joli in grey/black last night for my space gray. I debated between mint and hard graft. I feel like I need a nice case for this computer.
 
For those who are curious, I asked Joli Originals about the weight of their leather/felt sleeves. Here's the response from Harold:

"Because the sleeves are made from 100% natural materials the weight can slightly differ for each sleeve. The smooth sleeves are around 150 grams, the textured ones are around 180 grams."

That's about 5.3 ounces for the smooth sleeves and 6.4 ounces for the textured.

I think your post is probably going to make them quite a bit of money!

How is the bond between the felt and the leather on that top edge without the stitching?

Ha ha that doesn't really mean much to me in the UK. I know it's basketball but that's it!!!

Purple yellow is more a striped school tie combo for us.

Anyway have decided on a Joli case but maybe not that colour ;)

The Joli case looks beautiful but it also seems very thin, is it? Does it offer sufficient protection?

I agree with another poster, a gorgeous laptop such as this deserves a beautiful case, well my one does!

I think it will be ample for my needs which are essentially scratch prevention.......of course I'll prob start stressing about the case instead/as well. I got biro on an iPad cover in my handbag recently. :-(. But at least it was a che apish cover and besides am unlikely to be taking this away from home very often.

A great shop on Easy that was very willing to work with me to come up with a nice felt sleeve that also has a nifty flap where I can store a few accessories when needed. Extra snaps for the rare cases where I'm filling it with many bulky things. Of course in the orange/grey combo. Very affordable and great, really great, communications.

Can very much recommend Bholsa on Etsy

That looks awesome! The orange/grey colour combo looks great and should look outstanding with your Space Grey MacBook
 
Looking through this thread I find most of these designs either too simple or overdone. I am looking for a shoulder bag. I always have used incase before. But they don't make anything for the new 12" MacBook it seems. They make really nice products with reasonable prices and the design is very simple yet very modern. Does anyone know of any shoulder bag that looks close to what incase offers? Not looking for a ton of pockets or anything outrageous. But a bag where I can take my RMB with me and my mouse, powercord, and maybe store a few things in there such as my phone or wallet. I hate anything with straps, it takes away from the clean and simplistic look of the bag.

Not sure if this is the sort of thing you mean but might be worth checking out Tucano. I got smaller version of this for my 13" aluminium MacBook a few years ago.

I never used much because I never took the MacBook out of the house a lot.......but it should be fine for the new 12" so I might start using again since the 12" will be a lot lighter to carry! It's quite a flat style and I found it a bit tight with the power supply in the side pocket but I believe the new power supply is a lot neater/smaller.

I just received my WaterField rMB 12" SleeveCase today and am loving it! It's a perfectly snug fit.

Before this, I already owned the SleeveCase for my 11" MBA and really enjoyed it as well.

As you can see from the picture, the 12" sleeve is not as wide as the 11".
