Exactly right! The WWDC stands for Worldwide "DEVELOPERS" Conference. Aka, software, just saying to the guy thats disappointed about a lack of "hardware enhancements" being announced ;) Thats rich :)

Software and Hardware go hand in hand in case you haven't noticed. For developers certain hardware upgrades and changes will impact the software they produce and require them to either change them or optimize them to utilize any new hardware.

My thoughts exactly.

If these leaks coming out in the past few weeks are any indication of a post Steve Jobs Apple, the company is in deep trouble.

What's the matter, has life downgraded everyone's dream into a reality? Not to take this photo as such, but this is what happens when people take mere rumors at face value, thus setting unrealistically high expectations and then expect Apple to deliver. Now it's time to make claims that "Apple is in deep trouble." iPhone 4s, anyone?
A good attitude to take towards any tech rumor, or rumors, is "I'll believe it when I see it." It is a sure way to keep trivial disappointments out of your life.

The barcode seems out of place...

'This is a Code 39 Barcode. It is typical used for vehicle identification numbers' It reads 1P826-9882

I think this:

1- It can be fake, it's quite simple to make a stick like this and shot it with a phone camera. Reasons for make this are many... for example lowering expectations before WWDC, do you remember Tim saying: "double down on secrecy"?

2- It can be a new entry-legacy product, a rebrand of the actual 13" MBP. They drop the white MB, so there is no longer a 999$ mac, and with pro losing their superdrive, they've to offer a legacy model with a superdrive for students.

The geekbench score with a 9,1 (generation 9, size 1) can even be done with a 13", cause losing superdrive can give them more internal space and more battery on 13" to allow a 45W cpu (without a discrete gpu), so it can be quad-core. And price point with a 128GB SSD (and a normal hdd) and retina display and a quad-core cpu is going up, so they can't offer a so featured 13" pro at the old price of 1199 (i think 1299$ to 1399$ is the minimum price), so this can explain the need of a 999$ entry level notebook.

Just my 2cent.

As pointed out by The Verge, if it's faked, the person who did it took the time to fake the barcode too. Scanning it brings up the number printed above it. That would be one elaborate fake.

And? That the barcode and the number agree means nothing if that number isn't in any of Apple's databases to actually represent something.

Hell a lot of folks think they should dump the 13 inch pro completely, up the storage, processors etc in the Air and just have that 13 inch as THE choice. If you want to go 'Pro' with the superdrive etc you go for the 15 inch. And if the pricing was right that might not be a bad plan.
Sure, give me 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage in an Air and I take it (even if I have to workaround the lack of FW). I have had 8 GB of RAM for the last three years and I want my next computer to have more.

FAKE! Here's why:

Apple's allowed to change what they put on their packaging. so that they didn't put the 'full' specs is neither here nor there.

----------

I agree, but also a complete redesign is standard every 3-4 years. It is fair to assume that the macbook pro lineup will get a redesign soon...

Yeah and it was 'standard' for the iPhone to be released in June, July at the latest but what did they do last year and could do again this year.

Apple creates those standards and Apple changes them. If they think they think have the winning design in terms of shape and materials they could stick with it for the rest of their existence if they wish. After all there is no law mandating they redesign their stuff ever much less on any particular time table.

Well, mr cook did say that even if apple pisses people off they will continue buying. Maybe this is what he meant. No real upgrades, people complaining, but they will still continue buying

Good point it could be a fake. I think a lot of the rumors are fake also. Have to wait and see.

I'm in no rush to buy a new laptop as I have a 3 year old HP. I am looking forward to purchasing my first mac however.

This is a great point. Apple was dropping Mac from Mac OS X. I think this is an overlook by the faker.

I believe it is fake.

Could be Apple dicking with us. So many rumors close to the mark means lots of boring announcements. Why not disprove them with a fake leak and then it'll be a good announcement on the night. For some anyway.

We are in the exact same boat my friend, I have a 3 year old 16" HP and cannot stand it anymore.

I don't get it why everyone thinks the update is worthless. It now has an up-to-date processor, the HD4000 isn't that bad (yeah yeah integrated isn't everything, dedicated graphics would be nice) and USB 3.0 is a nice addition.
The main problem is the aging 1280x800 resolution.

Still it would be a nice computer for most 'normal' users that sometimes need the optical drive and ethernet. The 'pro-moniker' was thrown away years ago compared to the 15" MPB.

I think this:
1- It can be fake,
2- It can be a new entry-legacy product,

3 - It could be true, because its actually a lot more plausible than the rumours about radical changes like dropping optical drives or ethernet ports (although one or both of those might happen in the longer term). With a speed bump and USB 3, that's still a solid system with a classic design.

None of Apple's competitors are doing anything particularly exciting in the mainstream laptop market. All the buzz is around Ultrabooks - and if Apple make similar spec bumps to the Air range then they're still ahead of that game.

If you really want to cling on to the rumours about Air-like MacBook Pros, then maybe, just maybe they'll re-design the Airs and the MBP 15", but just speed-bump the 13" and 17" MBP as a prelude to phasing them out.
