Yes, the Intel i7-620M processors are better for the battery because they use the new 32nm transistor, which are more power efficient than the 45nm transistors (found in the i7 QMs).

After thinking about it, using the 620m might actually be better for those who plan on using the MBP mostly on battery. From what I've heard, the QMs have an issue where they stay at their default frequency and run on one core when they are unplugged. The 620m won't be affected by that, because their default is at 2.66hz, much higher than the default frequencies of the 720qm and the 820qm.

Btw, someone should definitely start spreading this leak around other tech sites. The faster it gets leaked, the faster Apple will release the refresh IMO. It's exactly what happened in June 2009. Not that it wasn't going to be released in that month though..

FWIW, our institutional computer store is having a unusual rash of Apple related sales. $50 to $100 off on all current MBP models (Macbook not part of the sale), and an additional 6% off list price on the 16th of this month. (a Tuesday)

The 16th? A tuesday?

Sounds likely.... maybe that's our date!

Sorry about the error, i missed the obvious part (32 nm), i had copied/pasted everything, so did not even check it out myself. You are right!

No problem - sorry for jumping down your throat. I'm just very excited about the possibility of an update soon and even more excited that the performance of the laptop might be pretty darn good. Still, that's no excuse for my bad manners.

Please no need for apologizes. I made the errors when i was literally lusting after the i7 specs. Thank you for letting me know, i appreciate you pointing it out. We are all anxiously waiting for the new MBP, so in that sense you guys are like family to me. :)

Hope this is why when shopping for a 17" MBP this week two local Frys were sold out. I had gotten tired of waiting and decided just to buy the current one, but when I could not find one that I could just pick up I decided to wait.

Oh, and Amazon is sold out of the 17" as well.

I don't think it's a Hackintosh... it says:

Motherboard - Apple Inc. Mac-F22589C8
BIOS - Apple Inc. MBP61.88Z.004C.B00.1001251657

I was configuring my ThinkPad when I found it.

EDIT: zorahk just said that.

unfortunately you can easily fake this information when configuring your hackintosh. Mine appears as a MacPro3,1. Even if i don't know what could happen if you set a model that doesn't yet exists.

However the score satisfies the expectation. The current 17'' MBP has 3989 (according to MacTracker). We can only hope.

cheers!

Makes sense to me, but, agreeing with Steve Mobs here, I could submit the results of my MacBook Air with dual Xeons, too ;)

1) Who would currently have a new MBP? Seems like only someone in Cupertino
2) Why would they do a test on this site where people would find it?

But with Steve Jobs showing the iPad to anyone with a printing press in NYC, who knows...

This is the metaphorical straw that broke the camel's back. I'm impulsively selling my brand new 3.06 MBP. I want one sooooo badly!! Arg!

On another note, I just realized that the MacRumors logo has a question mark on its right side! Look at that!

No one is talking about the most import part of this leak...that actually geekbench numbers for this system.

How do they stack up to geekbench scores of current systems?
