Someone please tell me why Apple going with Skylake is better than jumping directly to Kaby Lake. I assume they will use a more powerful version than what's out for the Kaby Lake CPUs at the moment.

Personally, no Kaby no buyee.

I see an updated iPad Pro being announced briefly here too.

I doubt it, but, I really hope your right.

The only thing that troubles me is the butterfly keyboard. I hope i will get used to it, if not the MBP 15 will have to go back :/

Ahh expensive niche devices that hardly anyone buys anymore.

I'm already forlorn for the days when people besides niche industry needed them.

iMac not ready? What the hell is going on in there?
Come on, they have only had a year to get them ready.......let's face they don't have many resources available, they have been busy designing the new car.....or was it watch straps, ear buds, erm, minor phone update, erm, oh well, yup you are right Apple should be seriously slagged off if they can't release some new imacs next week.

Probably you are right. I'm expecting too much.

Announcing skylake macbooks now is pathetic, what they were waiting for? Apple is done with computers, waiting sooo long for skylake? Wow
blame Intel not Apple. They seem to be having real issues getting product out the door in recent years. They are late again. Kaby Lake is still not generally available except in some very low power and clock rate versions. Can you go out today and buy a KabyLake i7 in Macbook packaging today?
We could be seeing the final straw in thr Apple/Intel CPU relationship. There are probably people in Apple Engineering that must be banging their heads on the walls in frustration with Intel.
This might be the tipping point and in two years time Intel MacBooks will be a thing of the past.
OTOH, the differences esp the performance differences between the two CPU's are fairly minimal.
I'd fully expect that the hardware will be able to take both CPU's with the minimum of engineering or process changes.
Lets hope that the Chipset can take 32Gb of RAM. For me that is the most crucial thing.

years since Thunderbolt display received an update, and it's still not ready. What is happening to this company.
You should realize will not be a 5K Thunderbolt Display ANYTIME SOON, not this Year, not Next Year, the next standalone 5K Display Will Be USB-C <=> DisplayPort 1.3/1.4, read carefuly that Ming-Chi Kuo didn't name it as Thunderbolt Display, and just as 'Cinema Display'.

Ugh. The worst keyboard ever. Just because you can make something thinner doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Agree, hopefully it will have more trave as the one on Magic KBD (the butterfly design it's perfect on the new Magic Keyboard coz has normal 1mm travel), and Macbook Pros use to share switch with Magic KBD.

5 years since Thunderbolt display received an update, and it's still not ready. What is happening to this company.

Hey guys - remember the Mac Pro? The Airport and Airport Express? The Cinema/Thunderbolt Display? The Mac Mini? The iPod Touch?

What's so different about Apple today relative to 5+ years ago?

Tim Cook happened: that's what.

I hate to tell you this but your IMAC is still obsolete. Just because Apple doesn't release a new rig doesn't mean your computer isn't obsolete by PC standards.

Yay! My iMac 5k iMac will not become obsolete anytime soon. :D

But seriously :apple:, stop stalling with that long overdue 5k Thunderbolt display!

At least I won't be going broke anytime soon... :)

But that new redesigned Macbook Pro!!! *sigh*... bye bye funds. :(

Now I am kind of unsecure and confused. I've my late 2015 iMac on ebay right now, because I was thinking it would be sure that there will be at least a small update to the iMacs (New AMD Graphics, TB3, lower price for the SSD and also more speed for the SSD.

On the other side this analyst "Ming-Chi Kuo" seems to have a pretty accurate accuracy assessment - but not at all. He was saying in 2016, there will be no iPhone 6s and new smaller iPhone (the SE) in 2016.

Where the hell is the Mac Pro?

I'm glad they're releasing yet another Macbook/Macbook Pro and another iMac but these have been getting relatively steady updates through the years. I'm genuinely getting concerned that the Mac Pro is a dead product now.

****.

Hopefully something big.

Maybe a little bit of a redesign, chinless edge to edge OLED display, 30" instead of 27" or as an additional option.

Beefier processor, powerful discrete graphics chipset with 2 or 4GB of dedicated memory, faster and higher capacity SSD options, the ability to add more memory than it can currently handle.

Native iPad Pro integration, taking advantage of an new Apple designed interface api, where it can be used as a wireless second screen/full remote access and control of your Mac anywhere on your home (so essentially a Mac tablet) or a graphic tablet with the Apple Pencil. New speakers, custom tuned and with dedicated woofers and a bass enhancing chamber for richer, deeper, louder more enjoyable music.

Integrating Siri capabilities with the Apple Watch so that Apple Music/iTunes (and other functions) can be controlled from anywhere in your home just by talking to your wrist.

Multi-user iCloud account integration for Photos so that a library can be fully accessed by more than one person.

Ok not all iMac specific but, hey, a guy can dream :D
