Why should the UK deserve special treatment just because they left the EU? Welcome to Europe! The UK is not in the EU. It’s nonsense and penny pinching.

It's pretty disgusting considering many will need to buy one , and unlike an iPhone chargers those cost a LOT of money
If you want the charger included in the same box, they make you customize your order and add it as an extra — but they still charge you the same amount. The only way to avoid that is to go to the next page and add the charger separately. They can't. They expect you to upgrade the spec of the configuration to have the privilege of being able to add a charger to the order. 😀
The 2026 regulations actually say that companies must offer a model without a bundled charger, but can also offer a more expensive variant with a bundled charger if they choose to do so.EU regulations say that companies can include a charger. As long as the device has the option of charging via USB-C, then, as far as regulators are concerned, not having a charger isn’t a valid consumer complaint.
And what does “producing less” actually mean? Simple: make products that last as long as possible — not disposable gadgets, but devices that can be updated, not thrown away.
Another idea: why even make “low-level” products? Why not focus on high-end models only, and use refurbished versions of previous generations — cosmetically renewed and with a new battery — to fill the mid and low tiers? That would truly reduce waste.
That’s not the right the law - the law in question is the end run law the EU did by redefining as “radio equipment” anything that might emit RF and then requiring them to be sold without chargers if they are sold with chargers.the law requires chargers to be interoperable, using... ummmmm... USB-C, so it's exactly the charger that Apple decided not to ship. This is not because of EU laws, it's a Apple's Wallet law
if you believe this has to do with the EU you're fooling yourself . This is appleNot too disgusting. In the European Union’s all knowing, never wrong always right knowledge…everyone already has a charger and doesn’t need to add to the electronic waste with this. EU believes everyone already has a charger, or access to one. EU is perfect so we can’t argue that, they know best 👏
Only in the EU since they don’t want all those keycaps to be thrown away, they’d rather have the old laptops throw away instead.MBP's from 2027 onwards won't include keycaps. You'll have to swap them over from your old MBP.
That would be most people with BEVs - they can just plug into a regular outlet instead of having a charger installed. What a **** take. It is a COMPUTER!! Here's your new computer, great and how do I charge it up? Well you can do that sir for an additional cost...
It's like owning an electric car with no home charger..
For the EU it’s all about virtue signaling. For Tim Cook, it's all about money and profit.

We shall meet them atop them mountain at noonHow would that look?
You’ve never heard about trade-in, recycling, selling used, handing down? If you throw away a working laptop or phone that is still supported (and Apple has historically supported longer than anyone for phones) that’s on you, not Apple.Yet if you want an upgrade, you have to throw away a perfectly good display and enclosure just to buy a new one identical to the old one. That’s shameful.

And the speedy change of regulations in the EU is only in the imagination of those who are now reaping what they sowed and complaining about it.Yes. Because higher power USB-C wasn't common when that legislation was drafted.
Well the only uprising consumers can do is a boycott. But that likely won”t happen here, because likely most of the people complaining either were never going to buy it or they were going to buy it and still will because they still want it.I think it's about time we start an uprising about this....
So every one that doesn’t need a charger is paying Apple extra for the coupon they aren’t using and Apple can make more money?Your suggestions are far too sensible.
But unless Apple needs a special SKU for Switzerland already (and the UK), why should Apple spend the money, time and logistics to make one?Final note: the law mentioned in the article does not apply in Switzerland. Because we are not part of the EU, and never have been.
