well no, it's a matter of aesthetics and symmetry. This notch on a premium laptop is just laughable - it already was on the iphone, and apple just wants to force it on us like other silly things like lighting (I own an iphone 12 pro and a macbook air M1)
your are referring to a disturbance in horizontal symmetry, I presume? ?? otherwise some wise man pointed out a long time ago that de gustibus non es disputandum

EDIT: well, look at this example of asymmetrical bad aesthetics… compared to the former beauty of the 16” ????????

Right, the main "progress" in these "new" laptops was to bring back ports that were idiotically removed 5 years ago and to ditch the horrible touch bar for traditional function keys (not to mention the years-long faulty keyboard fiasco). Pretty amazing that Apple can take away useful features and then bring them back years later, spin them as an improvement and sell it for $1999 to start! Let the peasants keep using their dongles for paying any less.
The fact that they contain infinitely better processors is the main reason to buy one. At this point, we can forget that Apple removed our precious legacy I/O for a few years: not only do these laptops crush their Intel-based predecessors, they give plenty of costlier machines a run for their money.

i have to give it to them, they delivered on all points! 120hz was in the dream space for me, super pleantly surprised they included that!
It's about time! I used to tell myself that I would not purchase a new Apple laptop until a screen with a refresh rate of at least 120Hz was offered with it; suffice to say, the wait is over. I am glad they finally took things up a notch. (No pun intended.)
