Normal for a new product. The first orders are not representative of anything... Wait 1 or 2 months THEN watch what happens to Macbook Pro orders...

I am WAITING as are ALL my colleagues for the 32GB variant to appear in less than 6 months when Schiller realizes that they need to act FAST as the HORDE - ARENT buying...

To all of you here... Put your money where your opinion is... DONT buy a product that you DONT like.... !
That WILL eventually bring Apple to give us what we need...

NOTHING you can't do with an late 2015 MacBook Pro that you could do with a 2016 Late MBP. As a matter of fact you can do MORE with the late 2015 as you can connect MORE devices....

But hey, if you need to choose your emotions on the touchbar AND think the late 2015 is TOO thick/fat and need a thinner model, go spend $1000 extra on a device which will end up looking like Frankenstein with all the dongles coming out of it...

And if you do... MAKE SURE NO BODY is around the power cable - if they are, your brand new shiny thin TouchBook Pro WILL bite the dust when it accelerates towards the concrete ground !

How can this be?! Everyone hates the new MacBook Pro. I know this for a fact because I read the internet. Everyone knows this computer is a fail. Dongles! Dongles! Dongles! iSheep! Apple is doomed.

(Did I do that right?)

There isn't enough printed money in the world to pay for these MacBook

I've said it before: I think these are priced too highly and Apple is taking advantage of the pent up demand. They've done it before with the iMac retina. It feels disrespectful. But it seems we're willing to take the abuse. :/

PROfits (assuming not all are the Base model)

What world are you guys living in? These prices are about on par with previous years. If you want a cheaper laptop go to Dell.

I bought my rMBP in 2012 for about $2500. The new ones include a Touch Bar, thunderbolt ports and a MUCH FASTER SSD and still around the same price.

Well here's one film and television editor with 20 years in the industry making my living off the computers I use who CAN use the industry leading 4x TB3 and fastest SSD on the market. Sorry it is not your cup of tea. Curious what you do that it is such failure for you?

Note that I am being polite. Please return the favour.

sorry, i was joking..
the little '/s' tag at the bottom of the post is meant to indicate 'sarcasm font' ;)

macs are an integral part of my productions (design/fabrication) and i think these 2016mbps are sweet.

100% agree. I am amazed at the number of sheep parroting a few highly vocal "tech journalists" putting forth the notion of what is and is not a "pro" laptop. It has to be 10lbs, dual Xeon processors, 30 minute battery life, Centronics parallel ports, 4 USB1, 3 USB 2 and USB-C ports as well as FW 1 and FW2, at least 3 Ethernet adapters, DVD-ROM and at least 64GB of RAM to be considered "Pro".

Hahaha brilliant post.

Isn't this chart a bit misleading. Yes, Apple which offers the only way to purchase OSX sold more MBP than Dell sold ONE model. Apple outsells every company. Thats now how the market works though. You'd have to stack all those boxes up that are non-apple and THEN include every model of laptop that wasn't apple and put that on top of the non-apple stack to get a view of how the product actually sold vs the competing market.

Apple competes with the Entire PC market, not individual companies. This is a lot of spin when displayed in this format.

This record will be followed by it being the most heavily returned laptop of 2016 when people have problems connecting devices to it.

You may have problems connecting devices but there are people that will appreciate the new design.

My Phone syncs over WiFi.
I mirror the Mac to the TV or just stream from a NAS
Any large files are transferred either over AirDrop or to my NAS
Bluetooth speaker for desktop sound
Bluetooth keyboard and mouse

You may need legacy ports but there are people who dont and will purchase this.

Oh, please somebody post that El Risitas Spanish guy laughing video, remixed for the new MBP...

So we can laugh at those who have actually BOUGHT one!!!!

Abuse?? I actually lol'ed when I read that word. It does not belong here in this consumer forum unless you're talking about putting iPhones in blenders. I hope you were being partially facetious.
Not sure how you feel disrespected either. I don't think apple ever promised or even strongly implied a release schedule for the mbp nor that they would keep it at an affordable price for any particular person. Like any company they charge as much as they think enough people will pay, and so far it looks like they guessed right. Good for apple and the ones buying, bad for the rest of us. But there's no foul play here.

I just need to connect to one or two 5K external monitors, can the late 2015 model do it? Even connecting two 4K at 60Hz is impossible before.

Yeah, no, saying it doesn't make it so despite the apparent disconnect in the American psyche these days. The 2016 MBP with the better screen (I work in video production, P3 colour space welcome), faster SSD, and industry crushing 4x TB3 ports means I will be connecting more, and more powerful, devices that you could ever dream of attaching to your 2015 model. Maybe not the day it arrives but within 6 months... I am betting on my future, not the past (being Canadian I am a lot more confident in my future).

That said, if the rest of you wouldn't mind cancelling your orders ASAP so my order can move up the cue I have this RED project coming in I want to finish in 4K Rec2020 in the new FCP X (I desperately need a break from my day-to-day Avid Media Composer work).

It's frustrating. Just goes to show people will lap up anything if you stick an Apple on it!

Now that a big strategy from profit stand point. Release 1 of the most un-updated model, let it sell and after the the sales are settle in after 2-3 months, release the new mac mini, imac and internals for the mac pro, and again sells sells

Remember, early adoption (+ draught) in progress here. Pro holiday shoppers next...

iMac sales idem dito scenario, my guess.

This really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Say what you want in the debate about the 2016 MacBook Pro not being a device for "professionals," but it's got features that people want. Apple's goal is not to cater to a small niche of users who demand 32GB of RAM or legacy ports, but to capture market share in the notebook computer segment. What the average consumer wants today is a lightweight device with efficient processors, and the preorder numbers speak for themselves.

Aha! There lies the catch.. sales REVENUE, not sales NUMBERS.. :)

its a VERY tricky difference that people need to understand. This news is ONLY Revenue. has absolutely nothing to do with actual number of units.

And since the base unit price also went up, and there's pent up demand, higher revenues themselvse should be expected up front. However, Higher revenues doesn't impact the industry in any way. Good revenues are great for Apple but don't generally affect market share or use cases in the industry.

It's like the iPhone. Shrinking Market share, yet the biggest profit maker in the industry. Thats good for Apple. But again, completely irrelevant to the industry itself.
