If the new 16" model can match the performance of the 2019 16" (8-core, 5600m) with double the battery life and no Intel 65 degree idle, id be willing to put up with the workflow downsides and iOS-style limitations of big sur / ARM
I lost you at the last part of the sentence iOS style limitations? You mean better than Intel except for multiple monitors and no-eGPU support? Iis that a hardware thing or are the drivers just not ready yet?

yeah, but isnt there a translation layer that affects performance?
Apple Silicon does emulate Mac Intel apps, but the performance hit is mostly upon initially opening and translating the app. After that, speeds are reasonably fast, albeit never as fast as a native ARM app.

Even if true, could still just mean an M1 update for the 16inch like the 13inch got last year and the true redesign delayed. Wonder if Prosser intentionally left out „redesigned“ just to be safe.

M1 does not have the I/O capability to power a full-power MacBook Pro. Same reason they haven't released the high-end 13".

Mark Gurman also said as early as summer, so Prosser is just regurgitating Gurman’s article. My take on Prosser is that he’s full of it.
Mainly because he had to fill that space with SOMETHING now that his source is unavailable :)
78.1% accurate leaker says new MBPs coming...

..at an event that has often seen no new hardware announced.
Still only slightly better than MacRumors. I should enter the rumors game and just copy from MacRumors. I’d be top tier in a couple months!

Same...especially with regards to the Mini-LED tech...

Apple is barely able to pump those out on the new iPad Pros as it is...
Yes, it is looking like no mini-led this time round. Shame as I have been holding on purchasing a new MacBook for quite some time due to the rumours of a 14 inch screen and mini led. If no mini led happens this year, think I'll just purchase last years M1 MacBook Pro/air, and sell it the following year when hopefully we do get it. Was even considering buying the iPad Pro mini led, but again decided against it because was expecting mini led on the MacBook Pro.

"There will be no Touch Bar included"

the thinkpad x1 carbon gen 2 had a touch bar and it failed. apple should've learned from them.

This doesn’t seem likely. Rumors were the M1X just started production this month. It should be months away from release. Ramp up takes months.
First of all, the rumors were that the M2 would be starting production in the summer, not the M1X.
The M2 would be for things like the new MacBook Air.
either way, they could easily announce it on June 7, and release it in July, just like they did with their recent hardware that they announced in April, and only released last week.

It won’t happen, WWDC is entirely software focused only

don’t forget he mentioned last year hardware like AirPods max being revealed for WWDC last year and yeah.. software event only Prosser
2012: New 2012 MacBook Air, 2012 MacBook Pro, and the first MacBook Pro with retina display.
2013: 2013 MacBook Air, 2013 Mac Pro, and new airport extreme
2017: 2017 MacBook Air update, 2017 MacBook Pro, 2017 iMac, 2017 iMac Pro, 2017 iPad pros, and the HomePod
2019: 2019 MacBook Pro, Pro Display XDR
even in 2020, we got sort of a hardware announcement with the Apple silicon developer transition kit.
either way, within the last 10 WWDC‘s, 5 of them had hardware. So, using that logic, we really do have a 50/50 shot.
and given that the rumor is the new MacBook pros Will be ready to go for the summer, plus the fact that the 16 inch MacBook Pro hasn’t been updated since November 2019, I think that there’s a pretty good chance of them being announced.
