Seeing as they just brought touch ID to the iMac, I don’t think it’s going anywhere on the MacBook Pro anytime soonI’m okay with losing the Touch Bar as long as they don’t lose TouchID.

Jony Ive’s product designs saved Apple and revolutionised the industrial design of the computer and smartphone. We don’t know how constrained he was in design changes under Cook’s leadership.Thank god Ive is gone.
Go back to WWDC 2017, it was chock full of hardware releases and announcements.
Tile design and the imacs , he got them right..so he has some good source, but just one of them its rightMark Gurman also said as early as summer, so Prosser is just regurgitating Gurman’s article. My take on Prosser is that he’s full of it.
I agree. The USB-C only design is one of the smarter choices by Apple. Makes little sense to pull back on it. Especially since any professionals have already adapted. But it's not like you cannot use HDMI with current Macbooks. You just need a dongle. In fact, pretty much most Windows ultrabooks use dongles as well. The only difference is Apple sells the dongle separately, while most Windows OEMs include at least 1 basic dongle (usually USB-C to USB-A + HDMI) with the laptop.
I'd rather have a multi-purpose port like USB-C that I can convert to almost anything vs a single-purpose port like HDMI.
It won’t happen, WWDC is entirely software focused only
That’s not clarifying, that’s changing what you said entirely!I should have clarified and mentioned “largely software focused”😊
Which iOS style limitations? If the new 16" model can match the performance of the 2019 16" (8-core, 5600m) with double the battery life and no Intel 65 degree idle, id be willing to put up with the workflow downsides and iOS-style limitations of big sur / ARM
His iPhone designs also saved Apple. He did it many, many times. One can make an argument that his 1998 iMac design saved apple
I was hoping this year would be 2 Legit 2 Quit.… and you’ll see why 2021 won’t be like 1991.
This sounds so go-o-o-o-o-d!!! Bring it on, Tim!
Announced June 7th, shipping late July, so effectively August. That is months. This doesn’t seem likely. Rumors were the M1X just started production this month. It should be months away from release. Ramp up takes months.
I’m really struggling to decide which one to get. The 16-inch would be the most powerful and beautiful computer I’ve ever owned but the 14-inch will be quite portable. Ultimately I may end up getting the 16-inch for power and long-term sessions, and also get an M1 MacBook Air (possibly the redesigned 2022 model) for portable needs like vacations and coffee shops.I'm first in line for either a 14 inch or 16 inches, depending on price.
LOL I feel the same way. However, the odds of getting anywhere near the amount I paid for my M1 Air are small. I'll just have 2 notebooks. I will trade in my 2018 MPB for the new M1 MBP and keep the M1 Air as my portable machineAnyone need a 13" M1 MBP? 🤔
You can buy from a retailer with a longer return window. Amazon is one option, although they are currently backordered on the MacBook Air.
I would use a burner device for a few days while you wait out the announcement.
No. I have an M1 Air and you can right click any application to see if it's Universal or Intel only. The Intel only apps run through Rosetta 2 and I don't see any slowdown compared to the app running on my Intel MBP.yeah, but isnt there a translation layer that affects performance?
