Man, their storage upgrade option is still more expensive than a kidney.

Where are you finding kidneys for this cheap? Those are normally in the 5 figure range, so at 4 figures, those would be a bargain.

These prices seem insane though. $1500 for the base. You can crank the price up to $3100 for top end everything (except leaving the hard drive at 500 GB, because who in their right mind pays $400 for another 500 GB or $1200 for another 1.5 TB?)

And, as far as I can tell, absolutely no AR/VR support.

The touchbar is neat and all (although it seems massively overpriced), but the lack of AR/VR support makes this a no-buy for me.

Is the Radeon pro 455 that much better than the 450? Do I upgrade to the 460? I'm not very familiar with graphics chips. I won't be running that many graphics heavy programs, but I don't want to have an inferior chip. Is it worth upgrading?

do these guys never use a usb drive on occasion or charge their iphone with their computer. Now I need an adapter for USB, plus all the VGA, HDMI, DP, Ethernet adapters I already have need to be replaced. lame. sick of adapters. Already tired of my earphone jack adapter on my iphone 7. And at least make a 512GB SSD standard. sheesh. Keeping my MacBook air. The slanted body is more comfortable to type on as well.

Don't worry! Apple Adapter Co has you covered! For the measly sum of $44, you can buy a revolutionary USB-C to USB adapter as well as an exciting new USB-C to Lightning cable! There really has never been such an exciting time to be a Mac user. Why use one adapter, when you can use 4?

This was kinda ridiculous, I'm glad I didn't wait for this one. They're seriously still using DDR3 RAM? And the non Touch Bar 13" only has 2 ports?!

Ironically, the non-touch bar model has a larger battery (54.5Wh) vs the touch bar variant (49.2Wh).

Disappointed as well. Surprised that not having the other colors affected by opinion so much!
The Touch Bar looks nicer than I was expecting, so that will be fun to see how my main apps will use it. I got a maxed out 13" - the 15" is just too big for me. Basically this new laptop will be the exact same size as my ipad pro 12.9 that I use with an eternal keyboard, just with macOS. I don't do a lot of graphics work and no gaming so this should do. I can see why professionals who would use this for work would be underwhelmed. But I write and code and it should be fine for that, it's an improvement over the old powerbook I've got!

This is absolute crap!!!!

Apple removes the 3.5mm jack from the iPhone 7 forcing the use of wireless or the Lightning port connected headphones (or the use of some stupid Lighting to 3.5mm converter).

So then consumers go out and purchase Lighting connected headphones and now the arrogant idiots release the new MacBook WITH a 3.5mm audio jack and NO Lighting connector.

Apple just finished telling everyone last month that the 3.5mm jack is a horrible outdated technology and we all should run out and purchase wireless or Lighting connected headphones.

Why would this machine shave a couple of hours off your work?

I actually thought the touch strip could be helpful. Then I saw the keynote, and I am not so convinced. Everything they showed could be accomplished with the keyboard and touchpad or a mouse, and as an added bonus, you don't need to move your hands or divert your gaze...

hmm..3k on this or a surface studio? I already bought the studio so I guess I had already made up my mind. No new macs this year. One gets a silly touchbar. The other is all touch. Apple will have to come up with better..

Man, my MacPro 2011 12 core and MBP 2015 15" seem more valuable than ever. I guess I'll keep them until they die for good.
Shame on you Apple for failing to address the Pro needs and overprice MBP just because the touch bar.
Get your act together!

You could buy a freaking car for these prices. A car. That travels places. Buy a $300 notebook. And spend the rest on a car. The car could be configured to have a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Everything sans the $3299. You're including the 1TB SSD which bumps it up $400. You also included the RX 460 4GB GPGPU that made it $2899. I agree that should have been the baseline GPGPU, across the board. And they should do away with soldered RAM or gut their RAM prices and have 32GB and 64GB BTO options.
I gave that example because that's the configuration I would have purchased, and the fact remains that for thirty five hundred dollars, you can't even pay them for another freaking 16 gigs of RAM, lol.

Why is there a headphone port?! I can't believe I'll need an adapter for my headphones, to charge my phone, to use older thunderbolt...

Nice new form factor, but I've been topped at 16GB of ram on a MacBook Pro since 2011. 5 years, yes five years later one still cannot pay *any* amount to have more than that on his macbook pro. True, SSDs are getting faster, but RAM is too. What made the MB "pro" IMHO was their workstation capacities, in particular with regards to RAM, quadcore CPUs and video cards.

Now we have 10 configurations to chose from in 2 colors, but none with "pro" specs in terms of RAM.

oh well, it should still sell well.

Apple have always been charging a premium for their products, but this just beyond being funny. One could always hope that so many people would walk away from the brand (especially with the new MS stuff being announced) that they will finally get the point ... sadly that will never happen.

And I just noticed that they killed off the 11" Air ... CRAP, I was hoping to upgrade my 11" Air to a Macbook, but with still only one USB-C port that is no option.

Jonathan Ive might have done some great things with the original iPhone, but I no longer see him being the "great" design God some have made him ... Apple is no longer bringing out tools for the professional stuff, this is expensive toys for the few ...

These are expensive professional machines, not toys for consumers.

The uk prices are absolutely ridiculous. Can't see many people paying these prices.

£2,789.00 that's a massive jump in price, thank you Brexit.

Borderline having a heart attack over here. £2699 versus £1999?! So an extra £500 in there for the currency depreciation of 25% and I presume a £200 port and function key removal fee...

Was expecting a £100 to £150 price increase against previous pricing tiers but this is mad. £1449 for the starter 13" MBP? £2349 for the entry level 15".

To replace my late 2011 15" MBP with enough storage to keep all of my data, I'm up to the 512GB SSD models. 15" starts at £2699?

I'm sorry, no. Even a 512GB MacBook with a Core M CPU is a hair under £1500. These new pricing tiers are whatever is on the far side of eyewatering.

A processor that is up to 130% faster than the MacBook Pros they replaced and you can't see where one might be able to shave time off their work?

Sure, however, there are a lot of computers with a lot more power than a mac that are even cheaper. So I guess I can save hours * 2 by not buying a mac?

I didn't realize it was April 1st already. Oh wait, its not?!?! Then I guess I'm just fully disappointed. I will be jumping ship and just put my Mac OS X into a VM for anything I need. Seriously Apple? LOL for $4299 for a "fully loaded" (Apple version) and its only 4GB Video card, horrible CPU and LMAO REALLY, 16GB RAM max??? Thats the best you got ESPECIALLY at that price? NNNEEEXXXTTT!!!

You should be storing data on two externals: one has a primary, the second as a back-up. A 256GB boot/application drive is plenty storage. I have a 512GB drive in my 2014 MacBook Pro, and I have 406GB available with no shortage of graphics and photography applications and fonts loaded onto my machine.

While surfing on the couch, are your two externals hanging at the side of your MacBook??
