Really underwhelmed. And that Dj demo was stupid. Why not put Dr. Dre on the stage and show how songwriters and producers may benefit from this technique on Logic or Protools?

Has to be one of the most embarrassing on-stage demonstrations. Tough to watch

RIP MacBook Air
RIP Magsafe (What an innovative feature back then... still so useful now when some clumsy students steps over the cable when I was in the library)
RIP cool backlit Apple logo behind the screen

RIP innovative Apple.
Wait no one told me about the logo being taken off. That's it. They took it too far. I was willing to compromise on the other things but not this

Since Apple is now titling all their products with Pro moniker wouldn't it just be regular? Drop the Pro name unless it actually offers something different. This was probably their worst product refresh in a long time. Dual core procs, Intel Iris? Really... What's pro about that?

On the receipt it says that it ships with an "Accessory Kit" - i'm assuming this is a bundle of Thunderbolt 3 to display/USB/etc... adaptors.

Man some weird stuff at Apple....
  • remove headphone jack on iPhone, keep it in Mac
  • Move iPhone to one port but that port doesn't exist on Mac
  • Lol @ those prices. Spec bump and a touch screen strip above the keyboard and BAM $2k.
  • No magsafe
  • No USB and this is somehow a "Pro" device?
Seems like Apple doesn't really know where to go lately other than to slap on a "Pro" moniker and raise the price. Luckily my rMBP is still going strong, because I really like MacOS, but not with the hardware that costs twice that of competitors.

With what Google has put out in the Pixel, I'm borderline ready to say screw it and ditch the Apple ecosystem. Because my phone, watch and computer all work together so well is why I keep them. But if the computer is going to be yesterdays tech at tomorrows prices while the phone hardware continues to trail with features, then maybe it's time...

No 32GB Memory option? FFS! If they're not going to announce a new Mac Pro, at least add an option for 32GB of memory.

Scrolling through the info and was looking for the same.
When there is no upgrade path, I save my $$ until I can get everythig maxed ot, but whatever we can tinker with.

Until I try this out in an Apple store, I won't comment on the touch bar.

Some posters make a good point that there should be at least a keyboard offered.

As for the keynote, yes underwhelming, but Apple operates in saturated markets and until that clog in the "best pipeline in years" is cleared we will just see step improvement as they have always done with existing products.

The Apple TV part was pathetic, but then I am not a TV addict and can still operate my remotes.

Who lot of crying about Pro models from people that aren't pro users in here. If you don't spend 4+ hours a day in pro apps, you aren't considered a pro user.

Real pros don't cry about the price because these machines help them get their job done faster and better. If these new machines shave a couple hours after their work in a month, they've paid for themselves even if they cost 2x as much.

Lack of 32GB and inclusion of a touch bar gimmick don't help pro users get the job done faster.

I actually thought the touch strip could be helpful. Then I saw the keynote, and I am not so convinced. Everything they showed could be accomplished with the keyboard and touchpad or a mouse, and as an added bonus, you don't need to move your hands or divert your gaze...

And that's key. Looking back and forth between monitor and kb would suck and be a big slow down. I wish they'd concentrated on a wacom/ipad device instead if they can't do touchscreen. USB-C ports and nothing to really take advantage of them. Where's the graphics amplifier?

Man, their storage upgrade option is still more expensive than a kidney.
funny you say that... i just googled how much i could get for a kidney , and according to google it depends where you sell it, US black market will give you the most.

so earpods with lightning connector? = adapter...or wireless

mini display port (which also pc's use now) is gone = adapter for video projector for business meetings

hdmi - adapter

asf...

I agree. What is all that research going? The released the iPhone with less than one tenth of that budget :-/

$10 billion in annual R&D and this is what we get?

The only way to get Apple to focus on desktops again is if their iPhone sales to tank. iPad sales have already tanked, iPhone 7 seems to not be doing as well as expected. The writing is on the wall. Tim Cook needs to go.

To use a new MacBook Pro at work and on the road, I'd need an adapter for:
  • USB wireless keyboard
  • USB wireless mouse
  • USB desk fan (yes, awesome)
  • Ethernet (our Wi-fi is too slow)
  • HDMI (external monitor)
  • iPhone (charging overnight)
  • iPad (charging overnight)
No thanks. Traveling for work is a pain in the ass enough as it is without having to worry about additional dongles and adapters.

No wonder they scheduled this event so close to Halloween. Big Boo! on Capt'n Cook. Those prices are scary!

16gb 13" MBP is $2K+tax+apple care for a Skylake machine? Hellz no. Need Kaby Lake for hardware HEVC 265 decoding since there's no dGPU.

I would have been happier if they just threw in new processors in the old design with the old prices with old fat design 6 months ago.

sticking with my 2008 MbP. Apple really has been disappointing this year. Price points are outrageous for that much storage. 1-hour to talk about a touch bar? It really is the little things that annoy me that never would have happened under S. Jobs watch. 13" MbP naming convention is confusing. iPhone dropped space gray and a headphone jack so maybe streamline MbP's and offer the same black and 1 lightning port for your new headphones that work w. best selling product?

A USB 3.1 to HDMI adaptor is less than $15. Suck it up and quit crying.

The SD slot was almost never used. Data shows less than 3% of users have ever used them. No point in including them when it simply adds extra expense and takes up space in the machine.
It was the only way to add storage (for things like iTunes libraries) without spending big bucks on proprietary SSD.
Also, it's not the $15 adapter cost I mind, it's the fact that I need AN ADAPTER!!

I swore I heard the LG Display was 5k but its a typical 4k display with TB3 for 699? Maybe a year ago.
Skylake core processors in 4Q 2016? At least go Xeon or get early access to Kaby Lake. Once again in the past few years Apple is late to the game. I really like the Touch Bar for video editing and it solves a lot of problems but not in the MBP package they are selling at the price they are selling.
Apple is an iPhone company and we should just accept that.

Microsoft must be feeling really good right now with their launch of Surface Studio a few days ago.

I have been waiting for several years to update my Mac Pro. I could never imagine I would ever buy anything but a Mac. Today I've decided to get a Surface Studio. All the innovation is happening OUTSIDE of Apple. They can't think their way out of a paper bag. Tim Cook sucks.
