So much for a "Pro" level laptop. Losing MagSafe, HDMI, and SDCard slots. I don't care about thinness in a Pro laptop. I value functionality way over thinness and portability. My Macbook Pro 2010 is the perfect size and weight. If you want to remove the ports that a lot of people use ALL THE TIME, then do that crap with the Macbook or the Air, not the Macbook Pro. That damn headphone jack better be there too or I'm roadtripping down to Cupertino.
I kinda like the idea of having 4 TB3 ports. The only "old" ports they should still use are the MagSafe and the Kensington security slot (RIP).

I'm ready to buy my first Mac laptop in years, and first pro portable in even more years.

I want thinness and lightness most of all.

I want speed next (but the current ones are fast enough).

And third, I want legacy ports gone. I plan to keep this thing a while, and delaying the transition doesn't help me. Combine the latest USB and Thubnderbolt in one port, along with DisplayPort and power! (And give me more than one of them, at least on the Pro.)

I want to get excite but I need to see that invitation this week.
I hope besides MBP they will also update the specs of the MacPro, Mac Mini and introduce stand alone TB displays at 4k and 5k. It's about freaking time!

Actually, days before. Apple development team sent me a lot of emails reminding me of enrolling in the Apple developer membership. And I sent back saying: after the new Mac released, I will enroll in. The rely says I cannot tell anything about our unreleased products, but most products are accompanied by press release.

well, he said "accompanied" then I didn't pay a lot of attention to it.

HATE the shallow flat keyboards. Terrible. Terrible. They've created the most unrewarding soulless typing experience.

I have dreams about the ThinkPad buttery keyboards.

One reason I'm still holding onto my 5 year old Thinkpad X220... It has an amazing keyboard.

I tried the "MacBook" thing keyboard, holy moly, what a turd of a keyboard on it...

Thanks for checking in John. Or is it Phil? Maybe Tim?

Several usb-c makes sense but no sd card slot would be a big surprise and a mistake. For the MacBook it makes sense to make it as thin as possible but with the MacBook Pro it's going to need to be a little thicker to accommodate a larger battery anyway so there should certainly be enough space for one and its something all photographers use and would need an adapter. So hopefully that is wrong since there are no usb-c DSLRs or mirrorless.

I can't believe Apple is shipping a product with an input method (Qwerty keyboard) that was developed in 1868. They should have 'courage' and remove the keyboard replacing with just one giant wireless detachable touchpad where you scribble out your input. Sure it'all only last 5 hours before needing recharging and the latency for gaming will be worse and it will have no tactile feedback, but this is future! Stop looking backwards and get with the program!

I don't care so much about the MagSafe, but as a photographer, the SDCard slot is very important for fieldwork. I guess the less components just adds to the bottom line. Shame on you Tim, you need to keep it a PRO! Guess I'll go to the refurbs and see if I can scrape up enough shekels to pay a discounted price for older models...Geesh!

"There have been no hints of an event and no invites have been sent out, so it's possible Apple will debut the machines more quietly, with just a press release."

We have been waiting for this since 2012.

Just a press release, when they got the OLED panel and a new track pad. They also need to talk a bit more about the Airpods, when will we be able to buy them.

2012 presentation

same identical computer new processor

seriously doubt they'll release anything new, if it's a redesign they'll have there show's and then say 2 weeks to 45 days down the road

I wouldn't be surprised if there won't be an event. To fill an entire hour with a touch panel and a slightly thinner body is rather...difficult.
Nah, they can always talk about Sierra adoption rates, the Mac App Store, Mac sales numbers...

Ok, maybe just the first two. :D

Keep the 'Pro' machines for pro users with the ports that are universal today with cameras...

Then again, Apple's excuse to everything is "look, we now have bought out adapters" as the reason to get rid of anything. It's always been that way..

Weather u look at the elimination of the eithernet port to make Pro's thinner (although that's true as well)

Please don't get rid of the MagSafe,

Magsafe, it's the one thing I truly miss since owning a MacBook 2016. I am indifferent to USB-C even though its stiffness means i spend more time trying to line-up whatever i'm plugging in to the hole, but 'having a clumsy' tripping over the power lead which I've done several times makes you appreciate the genuinely useful invention of MagSafe.

"OLED display touch panel that replaces the physical function keys at the top of the keyboard"

useless!

why not remove the WHOLE physical keyboard and make OLED display touch panel keyboard; so the keyboard can CHANGE depends of the app; that will be very useful for different apps like video editing and more.

something like this but better... of course.

I'm just the opposite. My laptop is 3 years old and doing fine, but I *could* be tempted by something amazing. USB-c only will be a deal breaker for me. I use the existing ports every single day and have no interest at all in a drawer full of adapters or replacing all of my peripherals.

At least with Megsafe u theoretically can't yank the cable out...... It does take more force...
