How does the battery cover fit on yours? Mine sticks out a little on the left and right hand side.
And also your top row of function keys, does it seem like they are crooked, sloping from left to right (left lower)?

That doesn't sound too good. My battery cover appears perfectly aligned. I can see a bit of a variation in the function keys but wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't gone looking - it's very minor, and when pressed they sit at the same level on both sides. I believe there's a thread running about crooked keys somewhere.

That's a shame - definitely no kind of gap like that here. Annoying when you've waited for it so long. I assume removing it doesn't improve the situation?
Removed it and put it back in and still no good, its the same on both sides.
I hope i can just get a replacement battery cover that fits, will drop in at white city on thursday when it opens and have a chat with them
It was a custom order, 2.8 with an 7200rpm HD.
Kind of disappointed that this was not picked up in the QA process, anyone looking at it can straight away tell that it does not fit, its even worse when you pick up it up cause there is no weight on the cover.
My battery casing doesn't sit exactly flush with the rest of the case, and looks just slightly warped on the right hand side. but this is only after taking a very close look at it. When I run my hand over the bottom I can't feel the seam between the battery case and the rest, except for a half-centimeter or so on the right.
For me, as it is now, I don't know if it's worth worrying about as it seems cosmetic, and in any case on the underside of the laptop out of sight.
Unless someone can point out why I'm totally wrong and it is worth worrying about!

I'm really sorry, that's so annoying. Are there any Apple Retail stores around, maybe they can switch batteries for you, to one that fits better.
For anyone interested, I've included the full tracking history on mine. This is a 2.8ghz MBP, 7200rpm 250gb drive, ordered 16/10 at 8:45pm UK time.
Incidentally, comparing this to the 2.53ghz I bought in the retail store, the screen on the 2.8 is much more yellow on the 2.8. I assume this is just the colour profile. Is it possible to somehow 'save' the profile from the 2.53 and move it to the 2.8?

would they do that though? considering it was purchased online?
Also personaly I would wait a couple of days let the rush of deliveries settle down then go down, i remember my powerbutton on my mac book pro went in on one side I took it back 9 months later got a new top casing.

There is one opening in white city on Thursday, So will pop over and get a replacement. At least its the battery cover so nothing serious

Yeah apple stores deal with online purchases also. I just want to report it asap, and then worry about getting a replacement cover. Just glad its the cover.

Ha, you'll probably have already had your first repair job by the time I get by MBP then!!
I ordered mine on the 18th as well. I hope it gets here soon... Luckily it doesn't have to travel the whole leg.
