I originally tried placing my order then but the guy on the other end of the phone couldn't get the higher education pricing to work for CTO machines. He told me to call back later. After sitting on hold for hours, I got through only to have the woman hang up on me. I had to find a way to order online through the HE store (not as easy as it might sound). I'm thinking if the first guy had managed to do his job then my machine would be shipping now too. 🙁
I've gone for the same hard drive as you but have added on a printer, an iPod and Applecare that's supposed to 'merge in transit'. I'm hoping that if they ship mine out tomorrow then it'll have a delivery date of Friday. {prays}
Yah Spanky I had a similar problem... the UK HE store was down for some time on the day of, and all calls to Apple UK post launch, were redirected to Apple US. I spoke to three customer service/sales reps at Apple US till one of them finally admitted he was getting bombarded by calls from the UK and nobody in the call center was informed as to why it was happening, or the fact that it was even happening... they were just getting a bunch of confused callers who thought they were calling the UK, and there was nothing they could do about it.
Anyways, I had to order the next morning because I wasn't smart enough to SSH on to my campus computer, and I didn't stick around for them to fix the store while I was at uni. So, my order is

Oh by the way, I realize Apple charges the UK an arm and a leg, but those student discounts.... Brilliant! I saved myself about 500 pounds going through the Edu store, and ended up picking up a heavily upgraded config 2, for less then the standard retail price of a standard config 2... and the apple care was even cut by 229 pounds on its own.
