What time did you place your order and did you CTO anything?

I think I've just missed out on the first batch of send outs. Mine's a CTO (different hard drive) and I placed my order at 9:50 PM GMT so 10:50 London time on Tuesday 14th.

I have placed my order 30mns after the keynote.
I have bought the 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 250GB Serial ATA @7200 and French keyboard

Hi!

I ordered mine from Spain. It's not the UK but I guess it's pretty similar with this.

I went for the 2,53 MBP with an upgraded HD (320GB 7.200 rpm). I placed my order some hours after the keynote and it said it would take 7 days for shipment and be here around 30/31st October.

Yesterday they changed it to 22nd (this wednesday!) and today it left China and now it's in Holland. In the UPS site they uploaded the information saying that it suffered an exception and may not be delivered the 22nd. It's something related to customs, I hope it can go on soon and be here this week!

Well, that's it by now! I'll keep on waiting! xDD

I originally tried placing my order then but the guy on the other end of the phone couldn't get the higher education pricing to work for CTO machines. He told me to call back later. After sitting on hold for hours, I got through only to have the woman hang up on me. I had to find a way to order online through the HE store (not as easy as it might sound). I'm thinking if the first guy had managed to do his job then my machine would be shipping now too. :(

I've gone for the same hard drive as you but have added on a printer, an iPod and Applecare that's supposed to 'merge in transit'. I'm hoping that if they ship mine out tomorrow then it'll have a delivery date of Friday. {prays}

i guess mines on the same plan as i have exactly the same message, mine has now updated and says :-

Package Progress
Location Date Local Time Description
SHANGHAI,
CN 10/21/2008 4:52 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
APELDOORN,
NL 10/20/2008 2:16 P.M. PACKAGE DATA PROCESSED BY BROKERAGE. WAITING FOR CLEARANCE

so i guess its thru the customs thing now and on its way!

Mine's updated and says just the same! I thought it was already in Holland, i guess i was just wishing that...

Well, they'll fly together.. xD

Same here. I ordered a 2.8Ghz MBPro at roughly the same time and received exactly the same estimates:

I suspect that our orders will go out in the same batch - let's hope it's soon!

Yah Spanky I had a similar problem... the UK HE store was down for some time on the day of, and all calls to Apple UK post launch, were redirected to Apple US. I spoke to three customer service/sales reps at Apple US till one of them finally admitted he was getting bombarded by calls from the UK and nobody in the call center was informed as to why it was happening, or the fact that it was even happening... they were just getting a bunch of confused callers who thought they were calling the UK, and there was nothing they could do about it.

Anyways, I had to order the next morning because I wasn't smart enough to SSH on to my campus computer, and I didn't stick around for them to fix the store while I was at uni. So, my order is

custom config 2.8 macbook pro with ssd option.

Oh by the way, I realize Apple charges the UK an arm and a leg, but those student discounts.... Brilliant! I saved myself about 500 pounds going through the Edu store, and ended up picking up a heavily upgraded config 2, for less then the standard retail price of a standard config 2... and the apple care was even cut by 229 pounds on its own.

I went to the apple store in regent street yesterday to try and buy one and they told me that they sold out their weeks delivery of MBP's (~1400) in 4 hours. They had to ask apple to up their deliveries but they were not sure if they'd get any more.

He did say that if I wanted to get one I would have to be there the moment the store opened as they would literally "fly off the shelves".

When will apple learn to produce enough computers!

Chris

It would be worth going to the store just to see them literally fly off the shelves! ;)

I notice now the online store says 7-10 days shipping for the 7200 drive, and the 2.8, while the SSD is now down to 7 days.

I called the Apple Regent Street store this morning. Yet again they didn't get any MBPs in, only a few MacBooks. Luckily I didn't bother getting up early so that I could be there at opening time today. Eugh, I wish my online order would just ship already! They should add another possible status in saying "unit reserved for manufacturing" or something so that you know that its being built right now, you're not in a queue anymore and it'll be on its way soon.

I did :( It's becoming part of my daily routine.

I was going to but then I thought, bah, bugger it, I was up until 2am, I've got a meeting at 2pm today and stuff to read for it. I can either spend an hour or two stuck on a cramped sweaty rush hour tube or in bed. I think I made the wiser choice. If my order were to ship then I wouldn't be tempted to go and buy one from the Regent Street store. If it hasn't shipped by late tonight then I might consider going in again tomorrow morning, although I'm not very hopeful that they'll have it in stock or that mine will ship out. :(

haha, relax!! Once it is shipped the anxiety gets worse, like: how long does a flight from Korea to who-knows-where take? If you're tired of refreshing the status page... wait until you got a ups number... xDD

Hahaha, don't say things like that!! Mind you, I've been through this stuff before with my Mac Pro and my previous Mac Mini although both of those weren't as hard to get as these new MBPs. Seriously, my productivity this past week has plummeted big time. I need this thing to arrive pronto so that I can actually do some work!! Obviously, the work will go much better on a MBP so I can justify putting work aside until it gets here...

I'm sooo happy :D Just pre-ordered my 2.4GHz MacBook Pro on Amazon.co.uk with an estimated delivery date of around the 5th Novemember. I had to buy from Amazon as I received a load of vouchers from an incentive site (Freepay to be exact) but have never spent this much money on one thing before.
Now I just hope that I wont have crooked keys, a loose case or an 'off' screen (touch wood!).

Still no joy on mine. I wonder what working hours the Shanghai factor use...

Apparently its 12:38am in Shanghai now. So if they work on 9-5 working hours (doubt it) then they'd be working from 2am to 10am UK time. Now I'm just confusing matters and over-obsessing!! :p

I'd order mine online, but I know the luck of the draw will be the Apple Stores getting them sooner than my order will arrive - so I'm sticking it out and waiting for the in-store stock to arrive.

It's so infuriating!

Am I the only one getting really fed up with the waiting (and lack of updates) especially when our US friends are getting them delivered all the time? Why are we in Europe treated so bad?

I got a new update:
