when ordering from play-asia, i have had stuff in under a week :(

ahh well -as you said, it is coming from china! what annoys me is the merge in transit...

Yea that adds a day or so then if its on a Friday then adds the weekend on as well!

I don't get it. I ordered a Macbook Pro and an iPod. Shipped 23 oct. Now it says:

Delivery scheduled by final carrier, see estimated delivery date. Estimated date is tomorrow 3th nov.

But when i look at the carrier it says:

NL DISTRIBUTION CENTER

but TNT doesn't deliver in Belgium i believe.. Hope i recieve it tomorrow though.

From reading what others have said in this thread, that estimated delivery date refers to the date Apple expect to receive the laptop at their distribution centre, not the date you get the laptop. If you look at the dispatch notification e-mail Apple will have sent you, I expect you'll see it estimates an arrival date of the 5th (that's what mine said); that's now when I think we'll get our laptops, as it seems to take Apple a day to merge everything, then TNT a day to transport the stuff to us.

Yep I think you're probably right about that. My initial despatch note actually said 6-7 Nov and changed to the 3rd as soon as it went out. Despite that initial estimate I will still be frustrated if it hasn't turned up by Tuesday - there is no reason for it to take this long and when you add the useless tracking into the mix the overall service is dreadful, especially when you consider the premium we're all paying.

My tracking hasn't changed since around Wednesday last week, although the date next to 'In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule' has now shifted from the 1st to the 2nd.

Now my status changed to "Delivery scheduled by final carrier, see estimated delivery date" Under Carrier Tracking Number it gives me the same reference number as before, but when i look at the carrier it says: NL DISTRIBUTION CENTER. So no carrier for me yet or? And why still NL when the shipment has gone through "In transit to destination country - next updates expected in 4-5 business days" and after that "In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule" and after that "Preparing handover to final carrier" and after that
"In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule" again. Is the shipment still in Holland? what about the message in transit to destination country or In transit to customer? This is ridiculous! Who is my carrier and why doesn´t my tracking number work, and where is the promised mail with the trackingnumber?!?!?

My status reverted back to "In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule" from "Preparing handover to final carrier"... GREAT GOING APPLE!

I think the preparing status means its at the distribution centre being merged and then when it goes back to in transit to customer its on the way to the courier who will then deliver it. Thats the only explanation i can come up with.

it seems from others that the in transit to customer status which comes after the preparing handover one is the final one before you get tracking details from tnt for the delivery.

What if

Okay so you guys were right as always, the eta had already changed to Nov 03 (getting real excited :D). The only thing im wondering about now is how the handover usually happens. Will they call me on my number before delivering it or will they just show up on my doorstep? Since I have classes tomorrow I'm slightly worried about missing the delivery etc (might have to stay home?). Anyone out there know for sure?

P.s I should probably just call them huh? :p

Yeah I think the major difference is that others got the handover message, then got their carrier tracking number and then maybe went back to in transit message. I've gone back to the transit message but with no tracking details. Apples online tracking facility is a disgrace compared to lesser companies as is their process of shipping a multiple order with a much slower shipping company and then refusing to let you track it. Probably because they don't want you to see how slow it actually is. And they wonder why we get annoyed when we ring up. I've given up hope of receiving mine on Monday and to be honest it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't come Tuesday.

Mate mine has now changed to "In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule 02 Nov 2008" but there's no carrier details anywhere yet and no e-mail from Apple (which I was promised!)

So we should receive an email with tracking number and its not just updated on the status page? Maybe it will update later tonight.

Was so looking forward to having it tomorrow and migrating everything over as I can free up the afternoon. I'm swamped all day on Tuesday so I'll probably get to open it and thats about it. :(

I'm the same, mine changed to that yesterday and was hoping that i would get the tracking details sometime today but maybe tnt dont work on sundays very well.

I would really like it to update tonight but cant see it happening

Well I would've thought we should get an e-mail from them, but when I first rang them up I was told by the nice American lady that she'd e-mail me when it went out for delivery. Who knows, they seem to say different stories all the time!

I've no idea when I'll actually get to play with it as I need to get it shipped to London now instead and I've got LOADS of coursework to get done this week so can't be learning a new system while doing that. Wish they'd at least offer Saturday deliveries - I'd have paid for it if I had to.

I have the same thing.

Shipped to XXXXXX, GB 25 Oct 2008
Estimated Delivery Date (Subject to change) 01 Nov 2008 (Subject to change)

Current Delivery Status In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule 02 Nov 2008

But still no tracking number

Also A update on the My order summary page, (not the detailed one)

Shipped on: Oct 26, 2008 via Syncreon Technology

Who's Syncreon Tech?

I really hope It comes tomorrow, Im not feeling very well, so Im not going to be at work so it will be perfect for me to have it delivered tomorrow.

Now Im really dreading my £1500 MBP will have something wrong with it (Dead Pixels, Dents, Scratches) But I hope it will be fine (Crosses fingers)

Syncreon Tech are the people who sort out the merging IIRC - they acquired Walsh & Western who used to do it.

FWIW, that 'in transit to customer' message means absolutely nothing - it's been showing for me since Wednesday or Thursday.

Also A update on the My order summary page, (not the detailed one)

lol how can you call the one detailed? surely one has not a lot of detail and the other has even less? lol

Mines in the same boat though.. turned back to "In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule" which im guessing means I will get it either Monday or Tuesday... though knowing my luck will be Tuesday... whats another days wait hey?

I think the 1st time it says that it means Apple as the customer... after being "prepared for final handover..." when it reverts back to it surely it means us as the customer... that would be the most logical explanation... but then again not much of this whole process has been logical!

lol how can you call the one detailed? surely one has not a lot of detail and the other has even less? lol

Yeah thats true.:)

So In transit to customer could mean it isnt really on its way

Im going to call apple in the morning and ask them where my MBP is, this is really frustrating me. WHy is "tracking page" (I use that term loosely) So freaking Vague.

...Well as long as I get it some time soon... They are giving me a free iPod and a reduction on the price too...

im under the impression that the first "In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule" is when its on its way to hinkley.

Then it says about preparing for final carier or something which I assume is when collections being arranged by TNT or whoever from hinkley.

Im guessing that the second In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule is when its en route to the local depot to the customer as I believe the next stage is something about scheduling delivery or something which I think is when it goes from the local depot to your house/work

Of course I could be wrong on the exact meanings of the different stages but I spoke to apple on Thursday and they said it no longer looked like id get it Friday but Monday/Tuesday is more promising. Assuming that wasnt a bunch of lies kind of ties in with what I imagine anyway.

If my educated guess is right if your current status is "In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule" and the last one was about final carrier then my guess is tracking number tomorrow and delivery tuesday... again just a guess so take with a pinch of salt but im still hoping for monday lol

Still waiting for....

Well, just to make you feel better, mine (2.8GHz) was ordered 7:30AM on the morning after the Keynote address and the dang thing is still at the factory.... as in I don't even have a shipped note yet. It was ordered through my university (had no choice), but it still seems to taking its sweet time..... since many that were ordered later... with exactly the same spec, have long been delivered. Am I the only one thats been waiting this long?:(

Very harsh!

Mine was ordered 30 mins after the keynote but changed my mind the next day to go with the 2.4 rather than 2.0

Mine has made its way from China over the weekend, via Korea and Koln, passing through Apeldoorn customs yesterday and is on its way from NL to the UK today. Should be here Wednesday which will be exactly 2 weeks from placing the order.

How do you track your order?

My MBP is being handled by the Sxxxxxxx Technology company. Is there any way to track my thing?
