It would be really nice, especially since Apple still is a computer company after all iPad/iPhone stuff (in despite of the name change some years ago)...

I'll be picking one up as soon as they come out, along with a shiny iPad. :D

Now to decide between 15" and 17"...

I'd be really surprised to see Apple interrupt the coverage of the iPad. We're about to see a whole new marketing push to show off the benefits of the 3G iPad, the announcement and preview today of OS 4.0. An international release for the iPad, all this month... that's enough to keep the news on Apple and its products. New iPhone in June, and probably the actual released of OS 4.0 around that time. That really leaves the month of May as sort of open for Apple, and the release of the new MBP might coincide well during that time to keep the news on Apple.

I think we're probably about to see the end of the Air. I know there are people out there still appalled at the idea of the iPad, but I've used mine for work all week now instead of my laptop, and I think for business travel it already offers a lot of things people enjoyed with the Air. True multitasking and some more productivity apps and it could be a suitable replacement for many users. Obviously not those that need high powered specs for serious CPU crunching applications, but those specs aren't really found on the Air either...

I have no basis for this prediction what so ever, but I'm going to predict May 11, 2010.

*If there is any one thing that might make an earlier release more likely, in my opinion, it is the tendency for laptops to be given as gifts to graduates and we are fast approaching the season. That might bring them out sooner, but I really think a May release is in our future.

Geez... it's about time!! Apple should be embarrassed by their current lineup at those prices.

For some reason I believe this. Hopefully this is a worthwhile update! :D

I probably won't buy one until June but I want to see them already. Well, I doubt they're going to be redesigned. So basically I want to see the specs! :apple:

Unless that 'person' is Steve Jobs, it's useless. There have been too many people who have guessed that. If they don't get released tuesday, someone is gonna call on the 20th.

oh i can see em over in the "waiting for arrandale" thread now.........;)

we will see........ been let down so many times already that im not giving a second thought.... i dont think...... hang on...... arghhh!!!!!:apple::rolleyes:

That used to be the case, but they have transitioned themselves into a content sales engine: focusing sales of devices designed to drive sales of apps/media though their storefront. That apps store and iTunes are the new cash cow: the rest of the product lines have been very neglected.

Ladies and Gentlemen!

Post your bets now!

Seriously, this forum instead of having positive and negative ratings should have virtual credit points to bet in prediction.

So far we could have had a big business with MBP and iPhone OS 4. :D

This rumor doesn't sound any more credible than any of the others. However, even a broken clock is right two times a day. If we have a new rumor every day eventually one will be right.

New redesigned Macbook Airs coming out this time in 2011. 15" ones coming out then or a little after.

And about this, Macbook Pro refresh will be happening for sure. I have confirmation from a source that hasn't been wrong about this before and informed me about the Magic Mouse way before it came out.

But have become so jaded because Steve Jobs wants to feign being all mysterious about it, instead of maning up and being honest and admitting that there is a supply problem.

I just hope its true, and it would be nice if we really were actually pleasantly surprised, instead of rolling our eyes in Meh

I agree. I don't understand why this always has to be such a big secret. If PC's had a decent alternative, I would have already bought one of those. They don't so I'll just continue waiting.

I'm also waiting for the new Mac Pro. I need a machine with two six-core processors. I need it!

May the force be with you!

My company is getting me a new laptop (Macbook Pro) and I need to give them what I need (specs) before April 20th!

If this is true, I am going to hold on and wait, so I can get the NEW 17" Macbook Pro!

<here's to hoping>

Releasing new MBP's won't take away the iPad's thunder! I don't understand these kinds of arguments. The mainstream media will stay focused on the iPad. When was the last time an MBP update got coverage on a news channel?

This isn't an attack on you, I just don't understand this way of thinking...

Back in febuary I posted that I guarantee the MacBook pros will be released Tuesday April 13th. Everyone called me a liar. Hopefully I'm right on the release dates. :D

Crap. Here we go again. I suppose if enough of these "rumors" keep coming one will eventually be accurate.

So can we start new rumors on an x-Mac, headless Mac or Mac mini tower? You know, something I'm actually interested in buying?

If I talk about it enough it will happen, right?

With iPad 3G and international iPad sales presumably launching at the end of April/early May, next Tuesday would probably be the last opportunity to launch the MacBook Pro refresh without product overlap. I really hope it's worth the wait. I'm not expecting quad core Clarksfield given the TDP and unimpressive clock speeds, but hopefully Apple was able to get a special higher clock speed Arrandale, say 2.93GHz, at least as a BTO. ATI DX11 GPUs would be appreciated, at least a Mobility HD5750. I can make due without nVidia Optimus since I'd probably almost always only needs the IGP while on battery anyways as long as Apple writes the driver to enable Arrandale's IGP to accelerate H.264 which it's more than capable of doing.

I wonder whatever happened to all the speculation of Apple getting first dibs on 6-core Gulftown Xeons for the Mac Pro? This would be an even easier refresh given Gulftown is just a drop-in replacement for Bloomfield. Given that nVidia's Fermi should finally be available on Monday, you'd think a Mac Pro refresh would be imminent assuming Apple would waiting for Fermi, maybe the GTX470 as the high-end GPU option on the Mac Pro since it'll have less supply constraints than the GTX480.

I have to agree that release of new MacBook Pros will not take away from the iPad release unless they have completely redesigned in and revolutionized it (and really I except this to be just a spec update, but a big one). If someone really think the iPad is a replacement for a MacBook Pro or MacBook, they are seriously mistaken.
