I have to agree that release of new MacBook Pros will not take away from the iPad release unless they have completely redesigned in and revolutionized it (and really I except this to be just a spec update, but a big one). If someone really think the iPad is a replacement for a MacBook Pro or MacBook, they are seriously mistaken.

Yeah I was wondering if the whole design would change, and if there would be a resolution upgrade. I just got a mbp in December (needed it because I quit my agency job and started freelancing) and I would love a res bump in the 15 inch. The 17 inch is just to much of a bitch to carry on the train everyday. And Jake spade doesnt make a bag that fits the 17inch :p

Ladies and Gentlemen!

Post your bets now!

Seriously, this forum instead of having positive and negative ratings should have virtual credit points to bet in prediction.

So far we could have had a big business with MBP and iPhone OS 4. :D

I actually PLACED a bet with a co-worker, and placed my numbers on a two week stretch from the end of May into early June. At this point I'd be happy to buy her lunch, however, if they do come out next week!

I am itching to buy a new 17" top end, but keep telling my self to wait a little longer. Not long to push.

How long after the announcements are they usually available? Immediately? I have been living with a macbook for a few years and its on its last legs. I have been going back and forth between getting an air or a pro with an SSD and I think I'm leaning towards the pro unless the upgraded air has a big boost in processor speed.

Fingers crossed for Tuesday!

Yup, I don't see a redesign happening. They just released the unibodies in 2008. It'll be all about the specs!

If there is no announce today directly from Steve J., there won't be any update next Tuesday, nor any of these days. Honestly, I am sick of waiting and this threads (that I am addicted to) makes me feel the same.

What a luck that my Powerbook G4 still works for the lower tasks (design, web, script, downloads) after 4 and a half years (365 days, 24 hours), but since I would like to do also some animation and HD video I really have to update now!

I will be 30 next Monday, MBP coming out at Tuesday would be a nice gift from Stevie boy.

I think we're probably about to see the end of the Air. I know there are people out there still appalled at the idea of the iPad, but I've used mine for work all week now instead of my laptop, and I think for business travel it already offers a lot of things people enjoyed with the Air. True multitasking and some more productivity apps and it could be a suitable replacement for many users. Obviously not those that need high powered specs for serious CPU crunching applications, but those specs aren't really found on the Air either...

I doubt that. I have a 3G iPad on order - just because... well, just because. But, it will not be a replacement for my Air. I am sitting in a cafe right now having breakfast as I type this on my Air. I carried it here in a small leather messenger bag, oblivious to its 3 lb. heft. I have sent a few emails, PP'd some photos in Aperture, fixed some contacts on mobile me and read the newspaper on it. Oh and I did not need to prop up the screen up with sugar bowl and coffee cup in order to read it... I could live without the iPad but I could not live without the Air.

I would love to see a good MBA update - it is a pity that Apple won't offer one with 3G connectivity built in along with an opt in/ out arrangement with AT&T.

I've been waiting since January. Sold my uMB in anticipation. Unfortunately, this week I have decided that I need to hold off until the end of summer for financial prudence.....going to be hard to hold off....

really hoping the 13" have dedicated graphics. Seems likely with optimus now being used.

I dont really know what else i want from an update other than the new processors. The benchmarks show a bit of a gain but maybe the battery life will be better by an hour or more in practice?

Better resolution on the screens would always be nice too but somehow i doubt it.

Apple's Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt is still FUD no matter the source of the rumor.

I think the problem was that the new macbook pro's will use 16" screens with an higher resolution (full HD).

Highly doubt it will be next Tuesday. Some of the more analytical forum members have pointed out the seeding of new OSX beta versions to developers shortly before new product releases.. and it doesn't seem like we have that trend. Apr 13 is too soon considering the nature of the shortages and how they've affected other providers.

But have become so jaded because Steve Jobs wants to feign being all mysterious about it, instead of maning up and being honest and admitting that there is a supply problem.

What a bizarre comment! Are you familiar with Apple at all? If you are, you'll know that Apple never comments on upcoming updates (unless they have to) until it's time to release those products. That's how they operate and always have. So Steve Jobs is not doing anything mysterious. He's doing what he always does.

My guess is yes they will be here next week. If for no other reason than after this past tueday, I gave up waiting and bought a new hardrive for my original core duo macbook. I'll keep it for another year now

I've never seen so many "unidentified sources" giving out information before

I guess if there is a new rumor every week about upcoming MBP releases for the next 52 weeks. eventually one will be spot on :p

If new MBP's are released, I presume two new specs will replace the current models.

And if so, what happens to the pricing? Do the new MBPs enter at the same price range or will buying a MBP become more expensive than currently is?

Reason I ask is I'm considering buying a 13 inch MBP soon and I want to know if I need to buy one now to get a MBP at the current price point or should I wait and get the better spec at the same price point.

I'm new to how Apple work and price their products so forgive me if the above is a stupid question.

Why not now if they are ready?

I really hope this is true and if it is, do us a favor Steve Jobs, just let us know at today's event.

"IPHONE 4 IS LIKE TOTALLY COOL MAN, HEY WHATS THAT THING *HOLDS MACBOOK PRO* YEAH THIS THINGS COOLER AND ITS COMING OUT NEXT TUESDAY" - steve jobs

I'm waiting for a new nice MBA too, and I was thinking about 3G connectivity as well.
It won't be bad have a sim tray already in for the new MBA(I hate my USB hanging on the laptop).
