Up your budget, I think

I so tire of people saying that. Its a real problem. When trying to convert people to Macs many see the prices and features of the current laptops and laugh it off. Really, they don't pass the laugh test.

The prices are stupid. The white one should be 699 at most and the others should start at 899. I will be waiting on the next iMac, I don't mind their price as at least the screens are cutting edge whereas the laptops are only cutting edge if you consider their weight/size to be worth the price. Seeing that many rarely move (as in many people I know with laptops rarely move them around unless they are after starbucks cred its not like the weight will matter). If weight is an issue I would stick with MBAs

!!!

I need to forget about this website asap...I'm going crazy checking the forums and news every other minute =D I mean IT"S JUST A MACBOOK...

I'm sorry I haven't said that...=)

I woke up this morning and checked the BB SKU #'s to see if there was any changes and they seem to have been pulled off the site. Not sure exactly what this means but I don't like it. I used to like seeing at least the SKU # bringing up a search result. Now it's like it was never there..

If the new 13" has a Hi-Res Antiglare... then I'm in...

Exciting times people!

Hey guys, I need a new Mac for work so I was wondering if I should pick one up today then swap it out when the new redesigned MBPs arrive. I know Apple's policy allows 14 days return/exchange with no restockng fee so I have nothing to lose right? Please advise.

Can't wait!

This is my first post on this forum - which I look at regularly!

I cancelled my order two weeks ago for the top spec 17" I wonder with all this speculation how impressive the next top spec version will be?

Very excited!

I dont know how smart that would be to do because it's only going to be a few days. I bought one on the 12th and am planning to return it tuesday or wednesday and the upgrade. I'm stoked. If it takes any longer than thursday i'll be SOL because i won't be able to return it. Kinda risky if you ask me

That's what my friend did about 2 weeks ago. His 14 days were up so he returned it got store credit and went to another apple store and purchased another MBP with the intention of using it till the new one comes out. One thing to keep in mind at least in Florida is that apple stores give you 14 days to return however if the purchase price is over $250 which obviously it will they will either refund the card your purchased it with or write you a check and have it mailed within 30 days. The card route takes about 3-5 business days to reflect back on your card. Another alternative is they issue you an instant gift card with the full amount. They say they are only allowed to refund up to $250 cash. Hope you understand. And your right you "shouldn't" have anything to lose. However, personally I would wait at least till the end of week if possible.

Don't bother. They are clearly coming this week.

Oh ok. Thank you all for the input. I suppose I'll tough it out until at least the end of the week... However my productivity is dead in the water.

Will Apple have a very limited stock of the new MBP in store on the 24th? Basically if I go there a few days after the machines are released will I be SOL in buying one?

Is there a line to buy new products? I know there is with iPhones but is there as well for Macs?

Someone must know something

All I know, is someone must know something....:p I was in the Apple store at Streets of Southpoint, Durham NC on Saturday. The MBP's were selling like hotcakes. At least 10 people bought one within 5 minutes. A couple of people were even buying one, and ipad, cases for both. Others were buying a MBP and a printer. Not a big sale as when the iMacs were redesigned, but still a lot of people walking around with a new one outside of the store.

Must be nice to have all that change to plop down in one buy. Either that or they are racking up their credit cards. Still though - a lot of MBP's were flying out the door. There was no sale or special going on, either. I wonder if people are scared of the new design and decided to get what they want now, then risk a design that may limit them?

I am need of an upgrade - not because there is anything wrong with my 2008 white mackbook (which there isn't - still runs like a dream). My problem is disk-space. It only has a 250gb hard drive. I am working on filling up an external 500gb.

Let's hope the new ones have 1tb drives...

Since my cash flow is low, may just spring to upgrade my current machine to 4gb ram. But I can dream of a new machine, can't I? ;)

Am I the only one hoping the design stays the same? I know its not all about appearance, but I don't want mba thinness bc it be less sturdy.

Do you guys think there will be a keynote event for the update? Or just a silent one in the store?

I'm more than sure that if there's a new design, there WILL be an event.

Why?

- Apple has been trying to showcase their events for a while
- It's another run through to test their web-capabilities
- Obviously, they need more people to hear about them, etc.
- But if there's a refresh in June (new design, etc likely), they will put that in WWDC where they showcase Mac OS X 10.7 and iOS 5.0 (if it's there).

I'm not really holding out for this; I think its a bit pre-mature at this point.
Apple hasn't been surprising for a while now.

So many things together? I doubt. But I guess, we will know soon.

Keynotes are usually slow or non-existant while Steve is out. Only keynotes to occur with this last medical leave was at WWDC. Steve likes the spot light, and he would only relinquish that for a developer's conference. If it is new hardware / gadgets - that is Steve's area.

Tim Cook could do it? Though, I guess the event would have been announced by now. Maybe today if we're lucky.

My point exactly dethmaShine, when there's keynotes - everybody talks about it. It's a major sale BOOSTER.

all MBP still ship within 24 hours here at the german apple store besides the better '13 one

i'd like to sell mine but i doubt i'll get much for it anymore, its nearly 1,5 years old

Doesn't really matter that I mention this considering most of us are pretty sure it is going to be updated this week but the Australian Apple store currently says ALL the MBP's will take 3-5 days to ship.

It's coming
