I am undecided between mac mini and 16-inch macbook pro, but in the end I will buy macbook pro 16 due to reasons related to mobility, work and video editing overall. Hoping the 16 / 32core GPU doesn't cost too much. Looking forward to look at the beasts

"New MacBook Pros Likely to Launch at Apple Event This Month, Says Gurman"

Just an amazing prediction, this guy can predict the future!

Maybe? Sure? With the chip shortages nothing would surprise me. It could be this month, or they may wait until next spring. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they introduce new Macs that don’t go on sale until January. Yeah, Christmas is coming up, but I doubt MacBook Pros are huge Christmas items, so Apple can easily wait a couple of months. However, AirPods are BIG Christmas items, so they May want to get those in stores ASAP, so they may have an event with only a couple of actual products immediately available. Any way, with the iPhone delays I expect new Mac delays to be even worse. At this point anything could happen, and things could change at the last minute.

Gurman and Kuo desperately need to drop a big rumor like DylanDK’s iPad M1 rumor to let us know they actually have an inside source and not just guessing. Lol
That’s likely true, Apple has really clamped down internally as recently shown with that employee lecture from Tim Cook about leaks. Their track records of info derived from employee leaks, 3rd party suppliers, or retailers getting advanced info has all dried up. Lol

So far I am perfectly happy with my M1 MacBook Air. But I AM waiting for an upcoming announcement regarding the next higher-end Mac Minis, since I am looking to replace my 2012 quad-core i7 Mini some time next year (either in the spring or summer).

Please Apple, all I ask for is there to be an option without the Touch Bar and that MagSafe comes back... I really hope I'm not disappointed but I have a bad feeling :O

As you know these 14”/16” redesigned AS MBP’s are a major release and not needing any holiday period for them to sell out. Also they are suppose to incorporate a more powerful AS device, so it hasn’t been a year since the M1 yet. I be more likely to suggest Apple using the one year anniversary of the M1 (Nov 10) as the release of what’s next, along with these MBPs. :)

Ditto on my M1 MBA. I bought it more as an entry level "travel" system and to get introduced to Apple Silicon. However I found it so good I sold my 32GB 2020 i5 13" MBP. If the 14" MBP knocks my socks off I might go for it though.

I want to be able to replace my 14 year-old Mac Pro with something else more modern, as a secondary machine. I have a laptop I could theoretically use, but I find using my MacBook to replace it is just a PITA. I understand budget is often an issue for many people of course, but even clamshell mode on Mac laptop for desktop use can be annoying.

A new M1X Mac mini would be great, but all I really want/need is a 16 GB M1 Mac mini with more ports. 6 USB ports (including USB-C and USB-A), video, and audio would be perfect. Basically, that would be the Intel Mac mini's ports like this*.

*It would be nice to get a new form factor and DisplayPort though.

Hmmm. "Stay tuned". Well, they say that 50 percent of all office rumors are true. I am guessing Apple will not unveil on the Windows 11 release day (other MS products shipping too), so Tuesday October 12 would cut off jibber jabber around that. But. I think Apple's timing is more likely to be driven by product readiness, which itself is governed by the software (MacOS) matching the hardware (in the pipeline). I have not been following the betas on this, so ... no opinion on the announcement date. Since we all might reasonably choose between an iMac and a laptop, working at home and travel being what they are in these COVID-19 days of 2021-22, I too am waiting for the iMac Pro announcement. Given two computers of equal power, and considering how nice the iPad Air is for mobile this-and-that (just not xCode development), I would be inclined to tip the scales in the direction of the iMac, these days. But ... stayin' Tuned! Cheers!🍸😹

I just don't like how the battery in my 2015 MBP keeps swelling. I'm hoping we'll get some new machines before mine explodes.
Go to Apple store and have them replace it... wether you get a new one or not.... It's still a good machjine and a swelling battery can ruin it.

My friends, colleagues, and I have been waiting all year for this upgrade. Despite the supply chain issues, I am still predicting an October event— Apple has to get these things out the door. If not, it could come in November on the anniversary of the original M1 launch. Let’s all keep fingers crossed that Gurman is right and it’s October, though 🤞😊

My gut is telling me Nov...makes more sense:
  • celebrate the incredibly successful M1 launch while at the same time announcing what is next for AS
  • getting in right before the Black Friday/Holiday rush...
  • using the month of October to build up inventory and having a sufficient quantity of product at hand for the initial launch window and preventing items from going OOS and losing on sales.
On the other hand, if rumors are true that Apple has been stockpiling these products since the summer...well, then bullet #3 is a moot point and they can announce it in October.
