Can current M1 Macs handle COD Warzone? If not, would that be the turning point for PC/Mac wars when a M1X laptop can handle such graphics-intensive games?

My gut is telling me Nov...makes more sense:
  • celebrate the incredibly successful M1 launch while at the same time announcing what is next for AS
  • getting in right before the Black Friday/Holiday rush...
  • using the month of October to build up inventory and having a sufficient quantity of product at hand for the initial launch window and preventing items from going OOS and losing on sales.
On the other hand, if rumors are true that Apple has been stockpiling these products since the summer...well, then bullet #3 is a moot point and they can announce it in October.
Let's not forget about Monterey beta timeline if its tied to new products, and pretty much repeats Big Sur. That would be one more thing on your list towards November.

"New MacBook Pros Likely to Launch at Apple Event This Month, Says Gurman"

Just an amazing prediction, this guy can predict the future!
It's obvious precisely because Gurman and others have been saying that for months.
If they had been predicting new iMacs, the release of new MacBook Pros wouldn't be that obvious, would it?

And no, the number of cores he's been predicting is far from obvious. In fact, many experts were surprised by the prediction of 8 + 2 cores.

If the 14" Macbook Pro becomes a reality, they've got my money. With Apple's track record this year, I'm only half-expecting it.

Wonder if I'll update. I'm currently using an M1 MacBook Air that I bought last January when I was still in college, but now I find my job is requiring more demanding apps than this Mac can comfortably handle with 8GBs of RAM. I'm doing a lot more video editing, photoshop, and podcast editing than I expected to, and sometimes things move super slow on. If a 14" M1X comes with a standard 16GB of RAM and I can sell this Air for a good price I may update...

Mac mini, Mac mini, Mac mini 🤞🥳

Will be interesting to see if it’s just the laptops or the upgraded “pro” Mini and iMac.

I was really hoping we’d get FaceID on the new MBP but I guess that’s a few years off and it will be touchid for the foreseeable.

Is anybody still buying the Intel MacBook Pros? If I get a good deal on a 26 inch, I’ll use it as a transition machine for all my legacy VMs.

What’s with all the negative in this thread? Seriously take whatever is being said with a grain of salt and enjoy the upcoming keynote. People need to chill it’s like people have some financial gamble in these predictions. If you are a company and cannot wait to upgrade then make your purchase now and in two weeks decide to either cancel, return the received shipment of hardware and if you are a consumer then two weeks to make a decision is not going to be the end of you considering you have waited this long already.

The current MacBook Pro has been tainted with many past and still current issues, let’s hope that Apple delivers and return the MacBook Pro to its former glory.
As long as they are able to sell poor quality, there is no incentive to improve.

It’s because he states the obvious.
A better question is why are you letting it bother you? Do you have some personal issue with any of these people? Did they make you look foolish in front of your family, friends or other that you try to use they previous “predictions” to make yourself look cool in-front of them and then it did not turn out as so and you looked ill-informed.

Curious that is all. 😃

I am kind of skittish this year to upgrade any hardware or software coming from Apple, I have had some negative experiences lately that the odds are not looking good. I will hold-off any upgrade plans till 2022 and hopefully this is just a bad patch Apple is going through in 2021.

TBH I'd far rather the likes of Mark Gurman ceased their activities as I want to be blown away on the official reveal or equally disappointed. Only reason they do this is to line their own pockets, hopefully Apple will weed out the leakers and parasites.

From a professional point of view if one puts a great deal of time, money and effort into a project the likes of Gurman have absolutely no place in the equation...

Yep. If you go to configure a current model, it tells you 2-3 weeks turnaround time. My guess is that new models will be shipping by the end of October.

probably will be production delays just like what is now happening with the iPhone 13.

A supply chain nightmare.

I don't know if they'll replace the current MBP immediately, but I think the 13" MacBook Pro size will be eventually discontinued and after that all MBPs will be at least 14". Perhaps something like this:

2020 - M1: 13" MacBook Air, 13" MacBook Pro, Mac mini, 24" iMac
2021 - M1X: 14" & 16" MacBook Pro, Mac mini (new design), 30" iMac (wishful thinking?). M1 models would continue to be sold.
2022 - M2: 13" MacBook Air, 14" MacBook Pro, Mac mini (new design), 24" iMac. Old M1 models discontinued.

Personally, I just want a Mac mini with more ports and a new design. I don't need an M1X. My friends and relatives want the 29/30" iMac though. Alternatively, I could get a 29/30" iMac and use my 30" Cinema HD Display as a second monitor and don't bother with a Mac mini at all. Right now I use a 2017 iMac beside a Mac Pro with that 30" Cinema Display, but Apple is offering me over CAD$900 to buy back my used iMac.
I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that the 24" form factor is going to continue at the top of the M1 iMac line. Along with that, it would be necessary for Apple to heavily beef up the Mac mini so that you can construct configurations that are more powerful and configurable than the iMac. I just can't see a 30" all in one; that's a lot of desk real estate to lock into their most popular desktop offering.
