I keep hearing “M1X” but I will be surprised if marketing uses that name. The M1 is a year old at this point. If an M2 is coming out next year in a MacBook Air then most people will think that M2 is better than M1X. It is best to use a different moniker for the pro chips. Maybe “P1”

Many of these reporters (I’m sure Gurman is one) get their info from official Apple sources. As in, Apple PR reaches out to them and gives them some approved snippets

TBH I'd far rather the likes of Mark Gurman ceased their activities as I want to be blown away on the official reveal or equally disappointed. Only reason they do this is to line their own pockets, hopefully Apple will weed out the leakers and parasites.

From a professional point of view if one puts a great deal of time, money and effort into a project the likes of Gurman have absolutely no place in the equation...

Q-6
Yet you are here on a rumour site for Apple products, etc. 😳

I don't think those stats are relevant now that Apple has really increased security/monitoring of product leaks. How many have been warned by Apple lawyers this year.
Didn’t Tim Cook also say he was “doubling down” some years ago. 🤔

I'm interested on the max amount of RAM that they'll support, hoping they will maintain 64GB of RAM even if they promise it to come at a later date compared to lower configurations.

Do we know if they’ll be a new Air or iMac?
Are you referring to MacBook Air or iPad Air as an iPad Air refresh can happen silently on the website no need to make mention of a routine update. MacBook Air on the other hand it does not look likely as that was done in late 2020 and next probably in 2022.

I am thinking on a Pro model possibly 34 and 64GB RAM options with the possibility of an entry 16GB RAM model.

It would be a welcome surprise for a 128GB RAM model but I feel that’s a MacPro option.

Yep. If you go to configure a current model, it tells you 2-3 weeks turnaround time. My guess is that new models will be shipping by the end of October.
Not a good indicator this year due to component shortages, it could be something or nothing.

I'm am sure he did, but you can actually see how well Apple have been during this transition rollout during 2021 to the detriment of all those rumor sources. ;)

They all need to improved their dartboard accuracy. :D

Will be interesting to see if it’s just the laptops or the upgraded “pro” Mini and iMac.

I was really hoping we’d get FaceID on the new MBP but I guess that’s a few years off and it will be touchid for the foreseeable.
Well the bricks are being placed for FaceID to be incorporated into a Mac laptop as the M1 MBA starts up when you open the lid and boots up quickly, next will be FaceID to Auto Login into your account from sleep mode.

My gut is telling me Nov...makes more sense:
  • celebrate the incredibly successful M1 launch while at the same time announcing what is next for AS
  • getting in right before the Black Friday/Holiday rush...
  • using the month of October to build up inventory and having a sufficient quantity of product at hand for the initial launch window and preventing items from going OOS and losing on sales.
On the other hand, if rumors are true that Apple has been stockpiling these products since the summer...well, then bullet #3 is a moot point and they can announce it in October.
I sincerely hope they have been stockpiling them for a couple months because I want the event in October and to receive a BTO option in November 😊 💻

Certain local pandemic restrictions and supply chain uncertainty may also be playing into 2021 “predictions” I would gather. 😉

I would not hesitate to order quickly when provided if I were you as there seems to be quite the demand if going off this forum.

Why do any of you listen to this guy? his record is awful.
Because it is a rumors site not a factoid site. All kidding aside it, to me anyway, being a rumor site affords me the opportunity of what people think may happen in the future. It’s kind of neat to see who is spot on with a prediction versus someone who ends up not being in the same country with their prediction.

I recently purchased a stock MBAir M1 1TB as there was not enough difference between it and the MBPro M1 in terms of performance. Especially since the Pro aLSO has only two ports. This MBAir will morph into a gift for the next grandkid going to college. Will be looking at the fully loaded 14" MBPro to compliment my fully loaded 2019 16" MBPro.

I really really really really hope the mac mini will be announced too, as it would be much cheaper, and better, for my setup.
It would also make sense to release it now, giving the rest of next year to refresh the iMac 27" (probably in a spring 2022 event), the newly designer Macbook Air somewhen in the middle of the year and the mac pro in late 2022.
And then the whole transition will finally be over, giving apple time to develop pretty much exclusively for the apple silicon systems, hopefully inviting more developers, like discord, to make an apple silicon version of their app.

Same. I have a high spec intel 16". So that will do me laptop wise for few years. I do need another comptuer do and an M1x mini would fit the bill perfectly

Can current M1 Macs handle COD Warzone? If not, would that be the turning point for PC/Mac wars when a M1X laptop can handle such graphics-intensive games?
Macs have never and will never be anywhere CLOSE to being good for gaming. They can't (and never have) been able to handle the intense graphical requirements, to say nothing of the piss-poor thermals they have among other issues.

Nobody games on a Mac and for good reason.

Oh, definitely— will be like an iPhone 12 Pro Max order at 8:00AM Eastern 😊 Demand will be through the roof for these things if judging by all the forums I’ve participated in since before WWDC (when they were originally meant to be released).

After its first event of the fall, Apple is on track
next month, where it will debut brand new MacBook Pros with a faster "M1X" Apple silicon chip, an updated design, and improved display technology, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

Apple last year held its Mac event in November, but in the past, it has held Mac events in October. Till now, there's been some unknown about whether Apple will stick with its November or October timeframe for this year.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman says the company is poised to announce M1X powered MacBook Pros within the next month, noting that "Apple typically does its major new Mac introductions in October. So stay tuned." In the paywalled section of the newsletter, Gurman also reiterated what we can expect performance-wise from the new machines.
Previous report suggests that alongside the new MacBook Pros, Apple may also announce a redesigned Mac mini. Apple last month announced the iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7, a new generation iPad, and the sixth-generation iPad mini, and besides new Macs, the company is also rumored to be releasing third-generation AirPods before the end of this year.
