Probably another Apple event with underwhelming product announcements. It was already bizarre that they brought the MacBook and MB Pro so close together in performance and price. Heck the whole Mac lineup except the Mac Pro pretty much have similar performance because they utilize the M1 chip. Hopefully they won't raise the price of the next gen MacBook Pros.

The sooner the better. Been waiting so long for this model though I feel like I'm just going to be disappointed since it's just going to feel like a year old M1 with more multitasking power at this point.
It will be interesting to see if there's a significant gain in performance compared to the M1. Hopefully the price increase is a false rumor.

Apple Could Release Products At Some Point

Analyst AB stated today that Apple is likely making things other than those that are currently available for purchase. Hot off the news that those things will at some point be for sale, came further details outlining how these products are probably going to be made out of materials. AB states that as per sources on the supply chain, those materials will have been harvested from somewhere on the planet Earth and with adequate science may be recyclable.

Make sure to smash that dingus and put a thumb up my…*ahem* subscription portal.

Mark Gurman has a pretty serious problem with guessing and receiving information from his made-up unicorn contacts over at Apple. Just saying....

Just bought a IPad Pro 12.9. Not yet sure if I want to keep it. A new Pro with mini Led is probably enough to return this for…

Here on Day 690 since the last 16-inch MBP update, I’ll be thrilled with a 16-inch MBP with Apple silicon. Anything beyond that will seem like a bonus.

My mid-2014 MBP is feeling long in the tooth. While she still pumps, I’m ready to step into the freezer* - I mean, future.

* shout out to my fellow phans lurking in these forums.

My late-2016 MBP died in May. This has been a long, long wait, but buying an Intel version made no sense.

I guess I should consider myself lucky. My mid-2011 13" MBA is still going strong here, but after 10 years, I'm definitely needing an upgrade, as I can't go past Sierra, and Intel will be gone by the end of next year. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if NO Intel-based Macs are announced this year.

Wonder if I'll update. I'm currently using an M1 MacBook Air that I bought last January when I was still in college, but now I find my job is requiring more demanding apps than this Mac can comfortably handle with 8GBs of RAM. I'm doing a lot more video editing, photoshop, and podcast editing than I expected to, and sometimes things move super slow on. If a 14" M1X comes with a standard 16GB of RAM and I can sell this Air for a good price I may update...

I thought the same thing 10 years ago, when I thought that the MBAs back then would be able to comfortably handle any work I needed to do.... I was proven wrong when it came to any type of livestreaming and photo editing I was going to do, especially as the MBA got really hot any time I ran any type of streaming software. From then, I knew that I needed nothing less than the MBP.

So is it this month or next month?

Yes.

BL.

It’s not new news I guess, though the core counts are new info to me. Rather, I look at it as a confirming source.

Do you guys expect Bloomberg or MR to just say “Nah, everyone knows already let’s not bother with this one”

You’re not getting either. Well, maybe Pro Motion, but no Face ID. And you can say Apple isn’t getting your money, but a ton of other people are saying the same thing and I’m betting every last one of them will cave when they’re released, including you.
They most likely will, not me, I’ll be keeping my M1 MacBook Pro, till apple stops holding back features.

They’ll all switch to Gentoo 🤣

I don't think the rumored 14" MBP will replace the current MBP with M1 but replace the upper end 13" MBP/Intel. I was originally waiting for the 16" MBP but decided to get the 13" M1 and am very happy with it. Runs VS Code just fine and will do all the other things I need as well.

The Mac mini, though, is something I'm looking for to replace my 2017 iMac. That'll have me set for years to come.

Hopefully, though, these announcements will be a bit more exciting than the iPhone announcements...
Why would they have both a 13 inch MBP and a 14 inch MBP? It's obviously replacing the former. I notice a lot of people do this thing where they downplay new products coming out because they want to feel that their current holding is "still good". It's so irrational. Technology doesn't really care about how much you paid for last gen products. You can be happy for new superior technology, and still perfectly satisfied with what you have, without feeling the need to do these kind of mental gymnastics.

Mark Gurman has the second best rating on Apple Track which I suspect is in part down to the fact that his rumours are never that far out in time and quite conservative https://appletrack.com/leaderboard/

a simple chart doesn’t show the real details. Waiting to state the obvious so many times AND through research contacts that pour fully into the entire supply chain and deals of the main company he works at - Bloomberg it’s not a leak he’s doing. So I don’t value him as a “leaker”.

All rumors and leaks on the 14 and 16 inch MBP point towards a massive upgrade over the M1 with incredible graphics performance on the cards. It's also a brand new design with MiniLED and extra ports. What it won't have is Promotion or FaceID. I personally think it's going to be a mighty impressive announcement.

I hate to be a "Debbie Downer," but you wonder with the current chip shortage situation and now the critical power generation issues in China, if Apple is now seriously considering a MAJOR reconfiguration of its new product releases and delay them all to 2022.
