You obviously have never been to a Microsoft forum. :p

I knew it was going downhill when they changed the name from Apple Computer to Apple Inc.

And what in your opinion has gone 'downhill' since the company changed their name to reflect that they don't just sell computers?

Broader product range, prices reducing, company profits up, brand awareness up, app store and iTunes store dominating online sales of media?

Anything "downhill" about that?

I don't keep up on when new models may be coming out...

BUT, when I went into the mac store in salem, oregon 2 weeks ago to buy a new macbook, (I ended up buying a macbook pro), I asked the salesperson AND the manager if there was a new model coming out soon...

... they both stared at me like I was speaking Swahili.

Why were you ripped off exactly? If the device you intend to purchase isn't fit for purchase, don't buy it. If it is, then go ahead and purchase. There will always be a new model on the way. That's the nature of consumer electronics, not a con.

Also - why do you think those apple store employees have any idea when the new models are going to be released? They'll be told at the latest available opportunity and will probably also have signed NDA's - it's their job to sell you Apple products, not tell you to wait...

stagnation of the actual computers? idk

I was thinking the same thing and one more thing. This is a chart of Apple shares in the last 2 years. Not much downhill there... unless gravity switched up and down or something.:D

Shipping on the 2.66ghz 13" macbook pro has changed to 3-5 business days on the apple uk store!

Looking forward to it!

iOS is where most of Apples focus is these days.
Every step they are taking at the moment seems to be geared towards making the Mac more iOS-like.
I just hope they don`t ruin the Mac.

Could you cite some examples please? I don't feel this way at all.

The latest iMac refresh was stunning, it's an incredible machine. The studio macbooks and pros are also fantastic - better build quality, speed and lower in relative cost than five years ago.

The iPhone, iPad and AppleTV are also great devices.

I think a company the size of Apple might have - wait for this massive surprise - more than one team of people focussing on more than one product at a time.

It's not four people in an office saying "right guys, today we're going to focus on iOS"

Do get a grip.

What stagnation? The iMac I'm running is barely a year old in it's current form. It outperforms any windows desktop I've come across.

Is less than one fundamental upgrade a year stagnation in your world? I'm quite happy with the incremental upgrades and improvements on build quality, heat management and overall performance.

I don't need a new form factor every other year, my attention span isn't that of a four year old.

The operating system is under two years old and we're expecting a brand new one at some point in the next six or seven months, there have been point updates to the OS every month or so during that time. Stagnation?!

You mean "you" not "the rest of us".

Take a look at sales figures, customer satisfaction, profit margin and expansion of service. It would seem to put your opinion in the minority if the actions of the majority of Apples customer's count for anything.

BTW - what does c2d mean? I'm extremely happy with the entire mac range - wouldn't mind a new form factor on the Pro - but then, what a pro tower looks like is irrelevant, and if it ain't broke...

I am also constantly on here updating and reading all these people fighting about dumb crap just hoping that one more real spec leaks, or a pic, or some new tiny piece on information that I don't already know...:D Glad to see I'm not the only one tho

You two folks at least make me feel less of a loser although honestly at this point, I am beyond caring. All my coworkers/friends/family are sick and tired of me talking about wanting a new mbp.

Meanwhile, I promise everyone that even if it doesn't look like an awesome mockup from italy below, I will love my new MBP come this thursday.

Yep. Me too. Can't put my iPhone down for longer than 10 mins! It's ruining my enjoyment of Real Madrid vs Levante!

I have a tech question for (probably) uk based people. Every laptop I own seems to struggle with football manager. I've never been able to use a large database and the 3D match generator is out of the question. If I were to use FM to it's full capacity, plus a fairly advanced music programme like pro logic, plus lightroom, what kind of spec would I need to look at?

Ta.
