He doesn't even know what c2d is. :rolleyes:

Oh the processor - the core two duo. Well, my machine runs lightening fast and I'm running the i7 that's been available for well over a year. So why would I be unhappy. The macbooks, macbook pros and macbook airs that my company owns are also lightening fast. Very, very happy indeed.

Inter vs Cagliari now ;-)

Not sure why they are being knobs about it. Its the intel Core2Duo range of processors.

Thanks fella.

They are being knobs because they are professional complainers. It doesn't matter what is announced, they have a gripe - this is because it's easier to criticise than give credit.

I'm sitting in my hotel room in LA sorting through malpractice insurance BS. This site is a great distraction. :D

Could you cite some examples please? I don't feel this way at all.

The latest iMac refresh was stunning, it's an incredible machine. The studio macbooks and pros are also fantastic - better build quality, speed and lower in relative cost than five years ago.

The iPhone, iPad and AppleTV are also great devices.

I think a company the size of Apple might have - wait for this massive surprise - more than one team of people focussing on more than one product at a time.

It's not four people in an office saying "right guys, today we're going to focus on iOS"

Do get a grip.

I can cite some examples.

The last Mac Pro refresh took almost two years, and it wasn't very impressive.

Graphics in OSX sucks compared to windows. By the way, if Apple has such a large staff they could invest some time in finally bringing OpenGL 3 to OSX.

As of today, Apple seems to think that 1000$ is a fair price for a computer with a C2D processor (three years old!). They used to sell cutting edge technology, but now they're always one step behind the curve.

But then, you're criticizing now too.

And I never had a gripe.

Honestly, I don't see LP or no-ODDs as a BIG deal for justifying a special event, especially without SJ around...Apple could simply update its splash page with some frontline announcements regarding the new technologies.

But having said that, I don't expect at all the introduction of LP.

My guesses are as follows:

- new SB chips, including one quad-core option for the 17 incher;
- bigger HDs and better GPUs, possibly with SDDs included in all models;
- all of them using MBA-like designs;
- higher-res displays.

The NOTS:

- NO Blu-Ray (which is moribund anyway);
- NO LP;
- NO USB 3.0;

The MAYBES:

- faster eSATA ports.

- new SB chips: Yes

- Quad-core option for the 17 incher: Is there one coming with a TDP that the current 17 inch can handle. I thought there was not.

- bigger HDs and better GPUs, possibly with SDDs included in all models: Yes, Yes an Yes

- all of them using MBA-like designs: I still think a new design and one that removes the ODD will warrant a special event.

- higher-res displays: 13; yes, 15; The high-res option will become then new default standard, 17; no.

The NOTS:

- NO Blu-Ray (which is moribund anyway): Sadly, never

- NO LP: Year(s)...

- NO USB 3.0: Not this go-round, Intel has yet to implement it. Until then, Apple will wait.

The MAYBES:

- faster eSATA ports: I think the internal will go from 3 to 6 gbps.

I have been planning on buying a Mac for a long time now, but keep putting it off for various financial reasons. I am now in the market for a new system (PC is over 5 years old) and this is coming at just the right time. I think its time to take the plunge.

And oh my do I hope that they use that "Liquid metal" look, damn.
