I have been planning on buying a Mac for a long time now, but keep putting it off for various financial reasons. I am now in the market for a new system (PC is over 5 years old) and this is coming at just the right time. I think its time to take the plunge.

And oh my do I hope that use that "Liquid metal" look, damn.

Time to invest in LQMT stock. ;)

hmm im wondering if id rather have dark grey like that color or the black weve seen in mockups..i really do like the idea of silver on the outside and black on the outside its soo cool

I'm sure Apple will tell us what we'll like. :p

Edit: I trust Johnny Ive to make it a stunning, functional piece of art.

Now to decide whether to go 13, 15, or 17".

We have 13" Macbook Pros at work and I really like them. But I kind of want more power + Screen real estate.

I may have to go 17"

I think those hoping for a Liquid Metal MBP are going to end up in disappointment. Apple will never implement such a major shift in design without having a Keynote.

That said, this will be a major update in terms of "next generation of notebooks". Lot of MacBook Air-esque changes to the entire line.

i still think theyre not going to have a keynote because of jobs but also its poooooossible they will have an event next week

Can't wait to replace my Early 2008 MacBook Pro with a Macbook Pro/Air hybrid.

I'm still on this 2007 Santa Rosa MBP. The battery life is down under an hour. It's about time for a build-to-order option for blu-ray!

You might be right. Things aren't the same w/o SJ! Or maybe SJ just has better things to do on his birthday than give a silly keynote. haha

lol yup i wonder how you guessed

Ha, too bad my first assumption was incorrect.

Could you cite some examples please? I don't feel this way at all.

The latest iMac refresh was stunning, it's an incredible machine. The studio macbooks and pros are also fantastic - better build quality, speed and lower in relative cost than five years ago.

The iPhone, iPad and AppleTV are also great devices.

I think a company the size of Apple might have - wait for this massive surprise - more than one team of people focussing on more than one product at a time.

It's not four people in an office saying "right guys, today we're going to focus on iOS"

Do get a grip.

Ive heard that apple runs like a start up company.

I dont think anything has changed. i think that the MB MBA MBP and all the mac side i think those rumors are burried in the slew of ipad and iphone rumors.

apple has been inundated with the success of the recent ipad.

+1 macbooks really need to be updated..who thinks theyll get rid of the white macbook??

The Aussie online store is open, but not shipping 17 inchers straight away like the 15's

they also aren't shipping 13" straight away. But its weird the apple store seems to have some in stock but shops like JB HIFI and Dicksmith don't. Also in USA best buy seems to be shipping with in 1-2 weeks.
