Light Peak coming soon?

Found this on some Danish site. No idea if it's old, new, fake, real, anything. But it's a cool picture all the same...

that's a sweet color scheme between aurora and the black /drool

Macbook air: The future of macbooks.
What does that mean? Either thinner design (which I doubt, as the design didn't change in the last air update), either standard SSD configuration (<-this).

Unfortunately, if this doesn't turn out to be a full redesign, I won't be purchasing one. I, like a poster above me, want to be on a redesign purchase schedule. While I may not feel the need to get one every time they do redesign them, I feel that it's too late in this design's timeline to jump in. Maybe the fall? Guess we'll find out soon. :(

So my conservative predictions (reads: minimum purchasing factors) for the 13" macbook pro update:

-core i3 (core i5 CTO)
-4gb DDR3 1333mhz (upgradeable to 8gb CTO)
-320gb 7200 rpm HD (750gb or a 128gb SSD CTO)
-Nvidia GeForce 425m
everything else the same as the current 13" macbook pro. Simply this is enough to get me to buy; However if the specs end up better than this so much the better :D

that said, if it falls short of this in any way, I might go with the last gen model, get an air or not get a macbook at all. Considering I just bought an SSD in anticipation of this update, the air might not really be an option. I'll find out soon ;)

I too suspect it well simply be a spec bump. Kinda happy as I dont want to spend my money on a pro right now but I know I'd want to if it was exciting.

I'm still using the last of the non-unibody 17" MBPs. I, too, am wary about buying a spec-bump at this point in the life cycle.

The only way that I believe customers will see a redesign of the Macbook Pro is if there is an invitation for an event. I have not seen that rumor yet.

overpriced?!!

MC724LL/A-SKU# 9755395 – $1499 – 13 inch
MC700LL/A-SKU# 9755322 – $1199 – 13 inch
MC725LL/A-SKU# 1535918 – $2499 – 17 inch
MC723LL/A-SKU# 1535845 – $2199 – 15 inch
MC721LL/A-SKU# 1535836 – $1799 – 15 inch

What's with the $2499 price tag on the 17", that's $200 more than the current entry level one listed in the Apple store?! Is this the "aggressive" pricing that was rumored to be all about? All the price points are still the same, 'cept that 17"; it better have some serious f'n GREAT specs to justify itself.

There wasn't an event for the last Mac Mini redesign, and the Mini is a way bigger deal.

EDIT: *sarcasm*

Don't we remember the October 2010 Event?

That's where Steve Jobs introduced the new Macbook Air -- featuring the new wedge unibody body and the built-in SSD and RAM. If the new MBP's are following these design cues as part of the "Next Generation of Macbooks", then there's not much left to have a news conference about. The big reveal has already been done. Any new Macbook models are just filling in the category.

So, I can see Apple doing a next Thursday release without all the drama and hoopla.

(Sorry to my 2010 Core i5 MBP, you've served me well. But Craigslist -- here I come!)

I'm all for better graphics in this update. I had a 9400M graphics card in my older MBP and that couldn't run anything past MW2, and I had to turn down every game to minimum graphics since then.

I need a MBpro, I can't just get a PC, so if it could run the latest games, it would be amazing. What do you guys think?

Any pro-opinion on the new graphics?

That would be Swedish but never mind.

I think it's a fake one, just look at the touchpad, it's to small to be real…
(I could be wrong)
But it looks nice eaterway :)

Yeah we can be glad it's just a mockup, a 2008 one even. Surely Apple wouldn't launch anything that ugly. :)

I guess the lack of an event may not necessarily mean new MBPs won't have great specs, and new features, it just seems unlikely.

Although Apple may have decided not to hold one as they were unsure when they would be releasing them due to the chipset flaw.

if it's going to be a complete REDESIGN, don't you think we'd see some factory leaks on new parts by now at least? I'm sure they would be in production already, has apple kept redesigns a complete secret till the day of before?

We didn't see any leaked parts before Mac mini updates last year

If your main interest is gaming, you should definitely go for a PC. They're way cheaper and outperform macs in graphics.

If you run a game in a mac with Os X and compare the performance with the same game in the same mac running windows 7 you'll notice that windows gets a higher framerate.

Maybe Apple will finally get serious about graphics drivers, but as of today you'll get a better gaming experience with a PC, while spending a lot less money.
